Overview
Start your great Xunantunich & Cave tubing Combo when your local guide greets you (7:30am) at your hotel in San Ignacio Town,  followed by a short drive to the  majestic Mayan complex of Xunantunich, where you will hike for about an hour exploring this impressive epicenter.

After exploring this interesting Maya site you will then be taken to 'Jaguar Paw' where you will enjoy lunch before cave tubing through a fascinating cave system, considered a portal to the secretive underworld, where the Maya once practiced religious rituals. Go cave tubing, through the crystalline water of this underground system and enjoy a relaxing tubing adventure.

(This tour may be affected by seasonal rains - flash floods, so your tour may be susceptible to changes only during extremely wet days)

(lunch for this tour is packed lunch especially for special dietary needs)
Highlights
  • Visit Xunantunich Maya ruins and go cave tubing in the same day
  • Climb to the top of one of the tallest ceremonial pyramids in Belize
  • Float through an intricate cave system on an underground river
  • With round-trip transport from San Ignacio, see Cayo district highlights
What to Expect
Meet your guide at pickup from your San Ignacio accommodations and drive to the nearby archaeological site of Xunantunich, crossing the Mopan River on a traditional hand-cranked ferry to reach the hilltop ruins. Learn the history of this ancient Maya city as you explore the remnants of palaces, ball courts, and the imposing El Castillo temple, which offers expansive jungle views from the top. Take a break for an included lunch before heading to the entrance of a massive underground cave system. Climb into a sturdy inner tube and float through caverns once used by the Maya for ceremonial purposes and filled with sparkling stalagmite and stalagmite formations. Back in the light of day, dry off for the return to your San Ignacio hotel.
