Full-Day Cave Tubing, Including a Picnic
From US$95.00
Overview
Float through an ancient underground cave system and hike through the Belizean rain forest on a cave tubing adventure from San Ignacio. This full-day excursion takes you deeper than shorter tours, with time to experience three different caves once used for mysterious Maya ceremonies. Back in the daylight, free-float through the jungle, swim in a natural pool, and enjoy a homemade picnic with rum punch.
What to Expect
Meet in downtown San Ignacio and enjoy the 1.5-hour drive on the scenic Western Highway to the Caves Branch River trailhead. Don the provided headlamp, helmet, and inflatable inner tube, before a 45-minute hike on a flat trail through the Belizean jungle to the first cave entrance. Float along the river’s gentle currents in and out of winding cave systems, marveling at intricate rock formations with the help of your headlamp. Along the way, learn about the area’s geology and the history of the Maya people, who considered these caves the sacred entrance to the underworld.

Break for a snack and a refreshing swim in a natural jungle pool before floating through the third and final cave, home to wild bat colonies. Back in the sunlight, relax on a 20-minute float down the open river to the van. Recharge with a provided picnic lunch, before the return drive to San Ignacio.
