- BethanyB8000 contributionsGreat driving tour to get a taste of Belize CityI did this tour with my mom and my teenage sons. We were lucky to have Aaron as our tour guide. He took us all around Belize City, pointing out landmarks and important buildings, and teaching us about Belize history and culture. We only stopped a couple times and mostly looked at things through the van windows, but it was still good. The Belizean food, rum, and ice cream we tried were all excellent. I'm sad we don't have a way to get that Belize food at home! Definitely recommended if you are in Belize City for a few hours!Written 13 February 2025

- sheilaroxann0 contributionsGreat City Tour and Food TastingOur tour guide was Aaron and he was extremely knowledgeable of the city and country and had deep roots in Belize. He gave us so much history of the area. We made 3 stops. One for the taquitos and empanadas, one for rum tasting and last stop for ice cream. It was a nice little tour and Aaron was an excellent tour guide.Written 9 February 2025
- Connector682206921360 contributionsCave tube and zip line. Just awesome!Kenton took our family of 5 today on a journey that we thoroughly enjoyed. He had lots of experience and knowledge of the country, the birds, plants, the caves etc. Could learn from him all day. He showed my kids a great time (age 10, 12 and 14), and I would recommend both the zip lining and cave tubing for this age group. I recommend 5 star and KentonWritten 12 January 2025
- ashontif540 contributionsTake this tour!!!Due to weather our tour started about 2 hours late, which made my group very anxious about the duration of the tour and getting back to the ship in time. Therefore, we were skeptical as the tour started. However, our guide Aaron turned our experience around. He was very knowledgeable on his country and very engaging. I loved that he gave us food from a local authentic business and fed hungry children along the way. The tour was very enjoyable, accessible for everyone, and informative. The soursop ice cream we had and view of the city was a unique experience .I would recommend the tour to everyone who wants to immerse themselves in authentic Belize culture.Written 12 January 2025
- ej1710 contributionsGreat experienceOur group of 17 had a wonderful experience doing both ziplining and cave tubing. The staff were incredibly accommodating (a member of the group is handicapped) and ensured our safety and comfort throughout the activities. Lunch provided was delicious! Would definitely recommend if you are in Belize.Written 1 January 2025

- Excursion258392685190 contributionsGreat 1st day and intro to Belize!!My tour was with Manuel and it was great!!! Manuel was very funny and sweet and answered all the questions I had about food and the country with ease and expertise. He knows his stuff! Manuel was quick to give recommendations to food he thought I’d enjoy. The rum factory, Kelsey’s restaurant, the fruit stand and ice cream were all nice touches. Even though the tour la title is bits and bites, I was more than satisfied with the salbutes, panades, and fry tacos. The food was yummy, the fruit was good, the ice cream was good and Manuel as a tour guide was even better!!! By the way the Rompopo is a must try at the rum tasting. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to tip Manuel more as I was on a budget because he deserves it! Thanks again for an amazing welcome and 1st day in Belize!!Written 18 December 2024
- bfwolf358050 contributionsThey do the best with what they’ve gotI was here on a cruise ship. For someone with my tastes who likes adventure activities, Belize City didn’t speak to me at all. I had no interest in floating down a river in an inner tube and the Mayan ruins seemed a little far (and I’ve seen more famous ones). So I thought, hey I’ll do this food/city tour and see what the real Belize City is all about. And the truth is that Belize City is pretty boring. Aaron was a very good tour guide. He dutifully and enthusiastically pointed out the city sights as he drove me and the other 2 folks on the tour around, but honestly there’s nothing that’s of any real interest here. We stopped early on for some Belizean fast food which included taquitos, something resembling an open faced taco, and fish empanadas. It was pretty good! In the middle of the tour we went to a rum distillery—you can see them making the rum and taste a few samples. The cream one was really good. We finished the tour with high quality ice cream on a delicious homemade waffle cone. There’s a couple of unique flavors you won’t see elsewhere. All in all, it was a pleasant day. Five Star does the best they can with what they have.Written 13 December 2024
- Kerry S0 contributionsBits and bites of BelizeNot your average tour, but we saw the good and bad of Belize City. Our guide Kendall was awesome. He had great energy, he was born and raised in Belize City. The food we tasted was spot on. We did a rum factory tour and much more. I would recommend and would do it again.Written 21 November 2024

- c_dricl8910 contributionsMemorable tour! 100% recommendAmazing tour! We did both the cave tubing and the zipline. Our guide was amazing! He explained the history behind everything that we saw, from the wildlife to the different trees and plants, along with their uses. He made our excursion memorable and we 100% recommend. Worth every penny.Written 17 October 2024
- Davenport120 contributionsDon't waste your time or money. You are better off staying on a cruise shipDO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! We made an online reservation for 2 far in advance for a private tour with zip lining and cave tubing. We were so excited for this. However, from the very beginning it was a complete mess. We came to terminal 1 as instructed, but it was so chaotic with long lines and no clear signs. The Shore Excursion's directions were bad!! We could not get in hold of anyone associated with the excursion. Noone was familiar with the organizer of the excursion; instead, all the other companied tried to sell us their own excursion. Eventually one of the tour guides told us he can take us to the River/Jungle, and we can look for the excursion there. We asked him how much it costs to get there, and he said $35 per person. The way he was trying to come up with the price was like it was his first day on job, totally unaware of how much to charge. In general, this was the common theme there. Next time, we are staying on the ship. We contacted the excursion company numerous times (at least 10 times), but they said, they will not refund us any money.Written 1 October 2024
- Gnat60 contributionsFun cave tubing! Zip line was mehThe underground cave tubing was really cool and met my expectations. I’d highly recommend it. The zip line near the cave tubing was a little disappointing with only four platforms (two of which were very short) and we felt very rushed (the zip line staff was really amazing though). The excursion started an hour late because a group was late in the tender port. They didn’t do the zip line but we were still in the same van so they waited while we zip lined and when we were done we only had about ten minutes to inhale our lunch before we had to get back to the port. The guides did their best to make it all work but I think we should’ve been in a separate group that left on time and with people who also signed up to zip line so we weren’t so rushed.Written 23 September 2024

So thank you A’RONNNN 😂 for a great tour of your home 💙. -TeaunshaWritten 10 September 2024

A group of us decided to take the Jaguar Paw Cave tubing tours with jungle trek while visiting Belize City on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Located about an hour from Belize City, the Jaguar Paw area contains a section of rainforest as well as a deep cave with an underground creek running through it. After loading into a bus, the guides narrated many interesting facts about the area, once at the Jaguar Paw site, you can change into swimwear (or clothing that can get wet) and leave any items you do not want to take with you in lockers. There is a cost for a lock. We were each given a lifejacket, lighted helmet and tube which we carried for the half hour walk through a river and pathed jungle before reaching the cave. When we were there Belize had a lot of rain, so the river was waist high (versus knee high) with brisk current. Once arriving at the cave, our tubes were tied together as the guides led us through the amazing natural cave system. The guides were amazing, helpful and very proud to share this Belizean experience with us. NOTE: There is no age limit for this excursion - but the river was very difficult to navigate as bottom was rocky and current strong. We were told in the rainy season the cave may fill with water - making this trek impossible. The week before we were everything was canceled due to strong winds (boat tenders were unable to navigate passengers from cruise ships)

Our guide Jimmy was waiting for us at the port upon our arrival. This was our first time in Belize and he gave us some history as we were driving to our destination. The weather was hot and it was a great day despite us being in Belize during their rainy season. Once we got to the park we had to gear up (head gear with lamps, life jacket and inner tubes). After we had to walk approximately 1 mile to our tubing destination. You have to wade through 3 separate parts of the river during the trek but the deepest part was about to my knee. I recommend water shoes that have a good thick sole because the ones I brought weren't very thick and hurt my feet from walking on rocks. Mosquitoes are also very active in the rainforest so bug spray might be a good idea, even though they didn't bite me. We stopped along our route in the rainforest to hear history about the trees, stories from previous trips.
Once we arrived to the water Jimmy put our tubes in the water and latched them together. Then he sat us in the tubes for what was best for our group. Jimmy didn't have a tube he walked, pulled and pushed us through the water and gave us history about the cave. During our trip there are parts of the water that are low so he'd give us a heads up to raise our rears. The cave was beautiful and the water was so clear. There isn't anything in the water that can hurt anyone! After the cave we completed our water tubing adventure and headed back to the front of the park where we had lunch at a picnic bench. They have rest rooms available also so we changed out of our wet clothes. Did a little bit of shopping at the local vendors. Ernest is one of the vendors and engraves pieces of stone with art. He was really nice and we purchased a few pieces from him.
Then it was time to head back to the port where we were picked up from. Jimmy got us back in plenty of time.

Jimmy, our tour guide was fabulous. Our cave tubing adventure was canceled and 5 Star took us on an alternate tour which included the Myan ruins, a visit to a rum distillery and a city tour. Jimmy was knowledgeable, entertaining and very personable. The whole group had a blast!! I would totally recommend this tour group as they’re local business and know all the hidden gems of Belize. We’ll use them again for sure and they’re way cheaper than booking through the cruise line.

Well I won't be using 5 star tours again.
1 - We never received any info on what time the tour would leave
( their email just mentioned the day and place to meet. we emailed and called but no response) Finally we got hold of a live person the day before and they said the trip was on and we should meet at 8am
2- We had to get up very early because of the long tender rides plus the big lines on the ship. when we arrived it took 14 minutes before ant representatives showed up.
3- They bussed us to a staging area and THEN told us the cave tour was canceled
( when I asked why the didn't text us that morning or BEFORE we wasted our time with the bus ride to the staging area, they said they had just gotten notice of high water in the caves moments before!)
4- Then they proceeded to try and sell us one of their other tours . When we politely refused they refunded our money and told us we could WALK back to the ship!
5- We found out later after to talking to other tour operators at the port that there actually was high water in the caves but that everyone had been notified at 6am
So 5 star could have easily texted us and we could have taken our time getting off the ship.
PS. We booked a city tour and Beach trip with a different tour operator (Too bad 5star couldn't have have played it straight with us instead of the old bait and switch!)

On this Day a couple things went wrong sir 1 the advisory for the caves did come out at 8am yes it usually comes out at 6am ..2nd You didn't meet us at Terminal 1 you met us at the water taxi where overnight guests comes in from the cayes that's why we had to to bus you to Terminal 1 it was a coincidence we met up to you ..When the caves are closed we try to give everyone an option to do something else for the same value and price we don't believe that is being shady ..We apologize for our part in this misunderstanding,,,

What an awesome trip and big bang for your money. Kenton is incredible and picked us and up and drive us in a very comfortable vehicle giving us all the history of the island on our 50 minute drive to the launch point. He is incredibly brilliant and a wealth of knowledge who had us laughing the whole way.
He then guided us on through the jungle on an easy hike for about 45 minutes stopping a long the way to show us things we would have missed if not for him. The water felt great once we got our tunes in the water and it was surreal seeing the beauty of the canes while flowing through as he guided and pointed out various things. You get out of the tube a few times to jump off rocks into the water inside the caves and then end outside where the tour ends but then have a really delicious lunch of chicken stew and rice and beans.
There is another gentleman (Rini) who serves up carved up pineapples and you mix your own drink (good rum) and various juices however or how strong you wanted. ($15 US and worth it / $12 if you don’t use the rum). He is also hilarious.
We then departed back and recapped what we saw with more history and a full pineapple for the ride back..
Again, we had an amazing time and learned so much from Kenton and grateful we had him for our tour guide. A great display of hospitality.and fun l.
Give that man a raise! Thank you Kenton

We found this excursion here on Trip Advisor and couldn’t pass it up after reading the reviews. We kept seeing Manuel’s name and decided to request him as our tour guide. We couldn’t have been happier.
Manuel was amazing. He was waiting for us at the port when we arrived and was accommodating the moment we met. We had a group of 13 and he was engaging with everyone down to the children. Manuel was efficient and gave us a lot of fun facts about his country, trees, plants and the terrain as we walked through the jungle to reach the cave entrance.
I will have to say that the Chicken Tamales that were provided after finishing the tour were excellent and in abundance. I think I ate two myself LOL. You really get a bang for your buck with this tour.
I would suggest booking an excursion with a local company as opposed to booking with the cruise ship any day. The guided tours with the ship spend more time stopping and talking rather than doing. We passed several on the walk to the cave.

It was a bit disorganized. 5 star was organized with greeting and getting you to pick up point but large bus and waited an hour 1/2 to leave (waiting for others and different bus). 90 min ride, lots of waiting since large number. Be ready to hike with tube and our large number had to wait a lot to keep everyone together. Once in water, only so so views, commentary from guide, adventure, leadership/advice. We have done many caves/caverns but never from water. We heard other guides, some with 5 star give better tours so probably bad luck of the draw as our guide struggled with both controlling the tubes and commentary. I have reached out to 5 star with feedback. Tamale was very tasty but we had to rush to eat to start bus ride back. Estimates on times was most disappointing. Arrived at 815 off boat at port. Greeted 5 star staff, left for tour on bus 10:00. Guides gave tour of area on bus. This was good but bus ride was nonetheless long. Arrived at park at 1115/30, waited for tubes/safety gear, big group to change, go to bathroom. Started quoted 20 min walk and it took at least 40 if not hour. Bit of chaos at River edge, tying tubes and dividing groups (lots other groups and tubers too). Our guide was inexperienced and unskilled/unsafe and we were behind rest of group. Saw other better guides. Tube ride was hour and half, short hike back. Had to scarf down tamale, load bus. Didn’t get back to port to catch tender boat back to ship until 3:15. Long day, lots of waiting, not fun, frustrating day. Wish we had stayed on ship. 5 Star staff were polite, tried hard, but missed the mark. We did see others have fun so if the travel time, hike (love hiking btw, wish we had done Mayan hike but some on hike struggled), you may want to take chance. I would recommend smaller group and more organized company.

I decided to book the cave tubing experience with 5 Star tours and I have to say it was the best decision I made! Once we arrived in Belize I received a message from 5 Star giving me directions on where to find them from the port. The information provided was detailed and precise. Our guide was Kendrick who immediately made me and my boys feel so welcomed and comfortable. We were taken in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with a drive that lasted about 40min. What I like about this tour group is that they truly know what it means to customize and tailor each experience to your group! We had a great surprise at the end of our tour when Kendrick heard I wanted to get some Belizean rum so he took me to a rum factory on the way back to the port. Definitely amazing rum and they offer tastings 😉 My teen boys (16yrs old) said that tubing in Belize was so much fun and icing on the cake was having Kendrick as our tour guide. He has so much knowledge of his country and made us want to learn more. The tubing experience was exciting, full of history, relaxing and something everyone should try at least once when in Belize. If you are debating about taking this tour, just do it! And don’t forget to ask for Kendrick!! You will not be disappointed!

We booked this trip with Carnival Cruise Lines for Wednesday March 22, 2023. Long bus ride but we didn't expect the caves to be right in town. Raymond was so engaging and entertaining, we couldn't help but enjoy the long ride(s). I cannot recall the name of our river cave tubing and jungle tour guide, (Jorge?) but he was also amazing. It was fairly easy to get outfitted and get in a group of 6 for cave tubing. When we arrived back at "camp", the food was just okay, and not at all presented like in the picture. We got stuff slapped into a takeout container and a dixie cup full of watered down koolaid. Bus ride home was more subdued, but Raymond was still funny and answered many questions. The cave tubing and the walk ("foot massage") was very fun and beautiful, but they could do better with the lunch. Would do it again if we can get the same guides. ;-)

If I could give more stars I would! Jimmy picked us up at our hotel in a clean, air-conditioned van and took us on a tour of the city while we waited for the other couple that were on our tour as their cruise ship was a bit late.
Jimmy was fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable and fun. He was incredibly helpful the whole way. During cave tubing he explained where we were, the history and pointed out the many different rock formations - some well known and some of his own creation! He took his time, made jokes, answered questions and let other groups pass us so we weren’t rushed. And from the sound of the other groups, we were having the most fun!
Highly recommend this tour (ask for Jimmy!) and will be checking out the other tours next time I’m in Belize. Thanks Jimmy for making our day amazing!
