Put down your guidebook and skip the stress of navigating on your own when you book a gourmet food and walking tour through historic Georgetown. Your guide takes you off the beaten path to highly-rated establishments, from a deli loved by locals to an Indian restaurant that’s been around for 20 years. Along the way, see hidden landmarks often missed by visitors, including Julia Child’s former home.
What to Expect

Explore Georgetown, learning about its early iconic years ranging from the town's flour mills, meat packing district, and C&O Canal, to Julia Childs' house as we stroll off-the-beaten path for a taste from local eateries.

Starting at 2:00pm, set off on foot, walking a total of about 1.5 miles (2.5 km) with your guide, at a comfortable pace. You'll stop about every 20 minutes to visit a local eatery.  We may stand or sit, depending upon the stop, while indulging in a total of four to five tantalizing food samples and one wine or Spritz pairing.

Between tastings, learn from your guide about Georgetown, its culture and architecture. Afterward, you're free to explore more on your own!

This 'eat like a local' food tour features a local deli, an Indian-owned twenty-year institution, International Spice and Olive Oil, Italian Cafe and Grocery Store, and a highly recognized military-focused American bakery.  Specific establishments may vary.

Approximately 1.4 mile walk with 4 food stops

Walk was gentle; no major elevation changes. We stopped at 4 good out-of-the-way eateries. The best was Chaia, which makes outstanding vegetarian tacos. Final stop at the Dog Tag Bakery. The only thing better than their cookies is their mission.

G'Town History and Food

We had an enjoyable tour with Alan through Georgetown! It was nice that the tour involved walking through less-congested areas. The food stops included substantial portions and NOT little Costco-sized bites (so come hungry and skip that huge breakfast brunch you think you may need!)...More
