She took us to 4 food stops, talked about some history of Georgetown and added some architectural tidbits as well. We are local and will definitely return to the places we visited on the tour. Also, currently looking at other tours that Mangia DC offers. Can't wait to go on another one!Written 11 November 2023

- N788GUsarahk0 contributionsPrivate Georgetown Food Tour for BacheloretteWow, what an amazing time we had on our tour. From the planning stages, Dave was extremely helpful and detail oriented. We quickly organized a private tour in Georgetown, keeping in mind food allergies for our group of 11 women. Dave was very responsive and assisted us with information about parking and navigating where to find our tour guide, Marsha. As soon as we met Marsha, we were blown away. She was fabulous! From the get go, she was engaging, friendly, and enthusiastic. She's extremely knowledgeable about the area and all of the historical and interesting stops along the tour. The restaurants were delicious and everything was set for us when we arrived at each place. Staff at the restaurants were all friendly and helpful as well! Throughout the tour, I had girls coming up to me and asking me where I found Mangia DC and what a wonderful activity; they absolutely LOVED it! We were comfortably full, interested in further exploring the area, and happy as can be. We have the Mangia DC team, especially Marsha, to thank for that! We also loved the mission of Mangia DC. They give back to those in need and bring us to restaurants with amazing stories and missions. The cherry on top! I could not say one negative thing about our experience and I am excited to recommend to others.Written 17 July 2023

We recommend anyone who visits Washington, this fooding and touring experience in Georgetown. Listening to all the great stories related to the amazing history of GEORGETOWN is a delight. As a group of 6 friends attending the International Visitor Leadership Program, our tour was led by the journalist/editor Marsha R.
We particularly appreciated the joyful energy that animated her and her hability to transport us back in times of cotton, tobocco and flour trade history as well as the canal construction or even during J.F. Kennedy's period as Senator... among other facts and stories. For a couple of hours, the architecture of Georgetown was filled with significant meaning and the entire neighborhood became more vibrant to us visitors.
Needless to add that we also enjoyed the fooding experience. The selected establishments based on family, love and friendship affairs were just perfect. In addition to the great tastes and food quality that were provided, the tour concept manages to convey the following key values: hospitality, generosity, equal opportunity, and sustainability.
Thank you for this great unforgettable experience.

Wonderful and unique experience! I usually visit D.C. at least once a year. The wealth of history and activities, make it an ideal tourist destination. Last year, I made my way into Georgetown for lunch and the beauty of the architecture and businesses peaked my interest. I made it my goal to do a tour on my next visit. Here we are a year later and Mangia DC Food Tours gave me everything I needed and more from this visit. The Georgetown Foodie Tour was such a great and unique way to see the sights and tastes of the area. Firstly, we started out at a very easy location. Brian, our tour guide, also communicated prior to offer assistance in finding the space. Once we met, we had a nice opportunity to get acquainted as a group, which I enjoyed. We were provided with a guide which included a map and complimentary coupons that could be used at the locations we stopped at. That was a really unique touch and I don't think I've ever received that during a food tour. We did a total of 4 food stops with a number of beautiful sights in between. Each stop was unique and the portions were significant, about the size of large appetizer. At the end, you will have eaten about as much as whole lunch meal and dessert. Among my favorites, City Sliders were the best. The bbq pork slider was flavorful and prepared well! The Dog tag bakery was probably the most heartwarming and a great way to end the tour. Moreover, we received a beverage at each stop which was very helpful given the hot, humid weather that day. Among the sites, I'd say Julia child's home, Emma Brown's school, and the canal, were favorites. Brian was not only personable, but very knowledgeable as well. He provided a lot of background information on the area and pointed out the small things like star bolts which would probably go overlooked on a regular day. Moreover, his attention to detail in describing the dishes were appreciated and lends to the anticipation of each stop. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend to others. Its perfect for families with teenagers, couples, or solo travelers. I will definitely be returning for another tour.

Our tour was a gift from our children. Even if we had paid, it’s a great value. You get way more than what you pay for. Each stop offered fantastic samples which made us want to come back another time. Our guide Christine was phenomenal, a great fit for this work with her personality and ability to dialogue with ease on the historical background of each stop.

I've been on a lot of food tours all over the world, and this is definitely one of the best. Our guide was Dave, and he was fun and knowledgeable. I loved that he had a personal connection with a lot of the shop owners/employees, so it truly felt like we were getting a special and personal visit at each stop. There was a nice variety of food items, and it seems like each location was chosen with purpose. Perhaps this is the glutton in me, but I felt that this tour didn't have quite as much food as some others I've been on. Other than that, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great way to eat and explore like a local.

This was such a great experience!!! I looked into a lot of food tours before deciding to book this one. I muat say the positive reviews did not point us wrong. Lydia was a great guide! She was so funny and accommodating! She went above and beyond, bringing ponchos and hand warmers on a cold, rainy day. Someone in the group had a birthday and Lydia even put together a cake for them at the last stop! Sure the weather could've been better, but with Lydia it didn't matter! She has lots of interesting info to share. We loved the diverse selection of restaurants (something for everyone but nothing too scary!) and touring streets off the main drag. I highly recommend this tour and I am sure any of the other tours they do are just as good! You learn so much about the history of the neighborhood and the restaurants themselves! I can't picture coming to DC and not doing something like this. A pro tip we learned was to park at the 4 Seasons Hotel via the app Spot Hero. It saved us big bucks on valet parking!

3 ( parents in our 50's and daughter age 22) of us took this tour this past weekend which we had scheduled several weeks ago after reading reviews. I thought this was a great tour with a little history mixed in with a little local knowledge and some great food. I had read where some were disappointed there were only 4 stops and wished they would have had a little more variety. I found the 4 stops to be just about right as you recieved decent portions for each. We stopped at a polish deli, Korean BBQ , Vegan taco and bakery place. Personally thought 3 of the 4 were excellent and the 4th being the vegan taco place was good but not great. I would definetly recommend for anyone or group of 2-10 for a great afternoon. The entire tour took about 3 hours. Also, I should mention our guide Lydia was wonderful !! If I had to make any changes I would take out the vegan stop and put in another ethnic stop. also, maybe throw in a beer stop or two :)

It was a wonderful experience walking through the beautiful neighborhoods of Georgetown. We heard some very interesting stories about the history of the city, the structures, and many fun facts. But let's talk about the food. The food offerings were delicious and filling. I'm glad we were walking because I had to work up an appetite for between stops. Shannon was very knowledgeable and gracious to the entire group! If you're a foodie or have never tried a food tour, this is a great experience!

We couldn't have asked for better weather than we had on this clear, crisp early spring Sunday. And what better place to spend it than historic old Georgetown in our nation's Capitol.
What really made this event so special were the four very unique eateries we were led to by our guide, each one offering the most unique, & tasty offerings, from phenomenal Pirozhki's at Stachowksi's, awesome brisket sliders from City Sliders, delicious vegetarian tacos from Chaia Georgetown, and fantastic Blondies from Dog Tag Bakery.
But what really pulled this all together, & made it so special was our tour guide Brian. His pleasantly warm personality, & extremely articulate delivery of some of the most interesting tidbits & anecdotes about the places we passed along the way, was just perfect.
Whether you are a lifelong Washingtonian like me, or a visiting tourist, you'll really enjoy this event. It's not too long, & it's not too short. It's just right. It's a perfect little outing you're sure to enjoy...don't forget to bring your appetite! :-}}

Elizabeth and Brian provided a great deal of information about the history, architecture, and culinary traditions behind the Georgetown food scene!
Excellent walking tour through the Georgetown neighborhoods with local food which included four stops in this order:
Stachowski’s Market with tasty Half Smoke sausage with a homemade grainy mustard and a full Pastrami Perogie. The corner market has a wide selection of fresh seafood, fish, beef, lamb, and veal, among other offerings, pate, terrines, and sausages. A delight to eat at this market.
City Sliders with a smoked brisket slider on homemade brioche bun with crispy onions and a barbecue sauce, paired with a lager beer, a perfect match made in heaven!
Chaia Georgetown next to the C&O Canal, with a vegetarian taco of CREAMY KALE & POTATO with pepperjack, salsa verde & pickled red onion.
Dog Tag Bakery with a selection of coffee or tea with a Blondie for dessert. A perfect finish to a foodie adventure tour.
Elizabeth and Brian added great detail and background to each location and during the walking between locations with historic features and locations including stops at were Julia Child lived on Olive Street, the last residence of JFK before his presidency, and Emma V. Brown’s house.
So much more to the tour, don’t want to give it all away, make sure you sign up for this special tour!

Brian was a fantastic guide on the foodie tour. He shared information on the history of the Georgetown area, explained the unique architectural details we saw on our walking tour. And he gave us really detailed, evocative descriptions of the food we tried. I was a bit worried about joining the tour solo, but I ended up having lovely conversation with the others on the tour. True to his word, the tour resulted in learning something new, having a good time, and leaving with our bellies pleasantly full.

Hi - I am a vegetarian. Is it worth “ food tour” for vegetarians?
Written 20 October 2019
They are pretty accommodating, would suggest you make the request. In fact, one of the food stops offered a vegetarian taco that was a highlight of the tour!

The tour is from 3pm to 5pm. Will it be too cold or windy at late afternoon in end of Nov?
Written 11 September 2019
Definitely check the weather before you go so you know how to dress. You will be outside a fair amount, but you will also be inside the restaurants as well. That time of year should still be fine for this type of tour.

Absolutely! Their are alcohol and non alcohol drinks available, plus lots of good history from your guide. The whole tour was just fascinating!
