- K2346WVchelseaa0 contributionsWonderful tourJames and Kris were amazing! We only had one day to spend in DC and with this tour we were able to experience many of the monuments, the Potomac River cruise and learn so much about the area. James was very knowledgeable about all the places and buildings around us, he was a joy to listen to. James also pointed out little things at some of the monuments one might not know and the plaques don’t tell you. Kris, the driver, was incredible. He navigated the busy city with ease. He even took us by the Pentagon, we went the day after 9/11 and we got to see where the plane crashed into it, it was displayed with a large American flag. We had a wonderful day spent with James and Kris.Written 13 September 2024

- JulianN4600 contributionsGreat tour and experience through DCThis was the last tour on our trip to New York and it was as enjoyable as our New York tour. Tyrone and Chris were our excellent guide / foodie and driver. I learnt so much from the tour and Tyrone’s expert knowledge. Tyrone is a fountain of knowledge and kept all of us entertained throughout the entire tour. Both assisted a young kid who was on a wheelchair and were patient with everyone as it was a hot tiring walk at times. Cold bottled water is provided to quench your thirst. Tyrone’s knowledge of food also guided us on what to eat and when to eat. The tour covered most of the important DC monuments and gives you width of monuments which you can then use to decide which to spend time on later. The tour bus is very comfortable and air-conditioned - note that there is no WiFi on the bus. Including Georgetown certainly allowed us to try better American foods and enjoy a lazy and relaxing cruise. Thanks for the wonderful tour.Written 23 August 2024

- infopls0 contributionsTip about tippingJust a tip..bring at least $10 in cash in case you want a beverage or an ice cream. There are plenty of vendors but most don't take cards. And people please be prepared to tip the guide/driver. They are non-stop talking, joking, explaining, taking interest in the children, answering questions and lugging the strollers etc in and out of the bus storage every 10minutes! Come on! Bring more than $5.00!??Written 23 June 2024
- janaQ5331KF0 contributionsWAY better than expected!FAR exceeded expectations. I had friends over from Europe, first time in the US. I dreaded the DC traffic and decided to park at the end of the orange metro line in Fairfax, and ride the metro to town. Greatest decision ever. 6 minute walk from Fed Triangle metro stop to the tour bus. Kris is one hell of a driver, absolute confidence in what he does and smooth as can be. Thank you. And then our guide James. My God what an endless well of knowledge. He has spent years in studying and soaking up information to share with us. He is obviously committed and passionate about what he does, and keeps looking for more to learn. He said we would make the most out of the tour by staying close and listening to him. He did an awesome job educating us about the history and the monuments and landmarks, warned us ahead of time about photo ops "Right side of bus get your cameras ready, something coming up you will want a picture of". MUCH appreciated. Its like he was a professional tour guide or something! :D We never had to wonder whats coming up next or what we were looking at, or how long time we had to spend at each stop. The schedule is tight, because there is an incredible number of things to show. 6 hours went past quickly. The boat cruise was a nice break in the busy bus tour, perfect weather and refreshing breeze were rejuvenating. James stayed with us and when he had a chance, he spent time getting to know all the families and couples we had in our group, taking time to give us individual attention and talk about our different origins and countries people were from. We developed a personal connection with him, he is very sociable and FUNNY too. A perfect blend of personality, experience and knowledge for that kind of work. Last thing i want to say, (ok well not the last) it was WELL WORTH THE MONEY. I can't believe it was only $89 or something. Easily worth double that, now that I know what it gets me. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the perfect tour, our friends were thoroughly impressed too. THAT is what we wanted to show them, first time visiting the US and our nation's capital. They were shown the buildings too where all the big decisions and laws are made that govern our country, everything explained. Im still blown away. I dont usually waste my time writing reviews. These guys deserve all the praise. TIP WELL if you go. In many other countries tipping is not common practice.Written 3 June 2024

The tour guide we had was terrible. She couldn’t finish a thought and gave out incorrect historical information. She was unable to keep to a timeline and had the bus driver dangerously pull his bus across multiple lanes of traffic, so she could take one of the security chains down by the Vietnam Memorial to keep from walking to the corner where the bus was originally parked. She was disrespectful to the tourists, calling one a cow and thought it was funny. Additionally she was disrespectful to our nations veterans, the memorials and what they represent. It was a very disappointing and frustration experience, that I would not recommend anyone spend there money on.

We took the Moonlit Tour this past week. Sally and Chris were outstanding! Not only did us (parents) enjoy the tour, but we had our two 8th graders with us that enjoyed it as well. We've been to DC before, but this was our first tour. We learned so much information about the town and sites, and Sally kept us engaged with her level of detail. We were happy to not have had to burn ourselves out walking to all the sites. Also, the bus was comfortable, clean, and since it was a semi-rainy cold evening it was great to hop off take our pictures and hop right back in to warm up. We feel that we got our moneys worth on this tour and would defintely use them again for other excursions.

Vernon was super knowledgeable and entertaining throughout the tour. He kept everyone engaged, even my hard-to-impress teens. Chuck, the driver, was friendly and did a great job driving that huge bus in very crowded areas. This tour was well worth the money, and we felt safe and comfortable the entire time. Seeing the monuments and memorials at night was a memorable experience and we were able to get great photos.
When I booked the tour, I could add tickets for the Washington Monument the next day. We paid quite a bit more to get those tickets, but they had specific timeslots on them, so we almost didn't get to use them at all because our flights were that evening. When I spoke with the NPS staff at the monument (they were able to accommodate us earlier than the time on the tickets, but that is unusual for busy season), they were upset to learn that we had paid a tour company for these free tickets - since we hadn't been able to get tickets on our own, I was willing to pay for them. So be aware that tour companies are not supposed to be selling passes for the Monument and if you do buy them, you won't get a choice about the times on the passes.

We did this tour on what was an exceptionally cold but clear night. Our guide was superb and knowledgeable and our bus driver was very good. The sites included ones that have an exceptional beauty at night as well as a stop in Arlington.
It is important that you arrive early -- before 7. They line up people, check tickets and then loaded up three buses. There were still people waiting when we left who had arrived after 7 and presumably were awaiting the arrival of other buses.
It was bitter cold; it would have been great to have hot chocolate or something else. Dress warmly.
They do include a bathroom site and do make sure that no one has been left behind.

From the moment we got on the bus Sally was welcoming, informative and humorous.Chris and Sally expertly brought us around the sights avoiding the crowds as best as possible.
The duration of the tour was perfect, plenty of time to take in the sites and take some photos.

Sally our tour guide was awesome! Very informative, well paced and funny. Chris our driver did a great job too, helping the families with strollers on/off bus and making sure we didn’t lose anyone.
We took the 3 hour morning tour and got to see many of the sites we wanted to. I would recommend this for a quick first day and you can find out where else you’d like to visit on more detail or I’m sure sally could point you in the direction of other sites. Sally knew her history! Highly recommend.

I would NOT recommend this touring company to anyone.
My father and I were in DC only for a couple nights. The highlight of the trip was supposed to be this tour.
We got to the designated area at 7:00 per the instructions. We were checked in by a rep who scanned our ticket and gave guys stickers showing we were on the tour. The gentleman said to wait they will come back to get us when it’s time. The tour was supposed to begin at 7:30.
After waiting 50 minutes with at least 20 other people at the stop I called the company to see what the delay was. No answer, I left a message.
I went on trip advisor and did the live chat, no reply.
We waited 80 minutes then a bus came. It was already almost full and only fit a couple more people. They told us to wait another bus would come and took my number and said someone would call me when they were on their wait. The women PROMISED someone would call and come.
We sat and waited. No one called.
I called the tour company again, by now it is 8:42PM. A man picked up. I explained the situation and the man said to hold tight he would call me back in 3 minutes... he never called back. I waited another 20 minutes and called back several times, no answer.
We waited 2 hours and then finally left as it was clear no one was coming to get us or even have the decency to call us back. This company is beyond unprofessional. The situation was handled so poorly and wasted our entire night in DC.
The only decent thing they did was refund my money 4 days after I submitted the request.
Disappointed is an understatement, what this company did was downright mean they should be embarrassed of themselves.

We had a great tour and a great tour guide who taught a lot along the way. His name was Charles. The tour ran a little long but only because there was a lot of construction and we had the same 2 people who returned late at every single stop we made. We left on the tour at 7:00 pm and returned a little after 11:00 pm. We sat in the back of the bus so by the time folks organized themselves to get off at each stop we were down to 10 minutes at most stops and 30 minutes at the big stop. Wish we could have stayed a little longer at the big 3 (Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korean) memorial but that construction really slowed things down.
They kept a lot of water bottles on the bus and there was a restroom on the bus and at 2 of the stops.

I, the adult of our group, is writing this review, which is largely written by the Teen and Tween who accompanied me. I will then end this review with my comments.
Teen (CJ) & Tween (Mel): Our favorite part of the tour was our guide, David, who was detailed in his explanations; he also had a good sense of humor. David explained the many sights we saw and told us a LOT about the monuments that we experienced for the first time. He gave us lots of photo opportunities. The guided tour will inform you about much unknown or little-known history. Expect that history will be learned on this tour. The tour bus driver, Chris, was helpful beyond driving: he scanned our tickets when we arrived (letting us know that we were in the right place at the right time) and kept us safe on the bus when we got separated from David and thought we'd been left (we hadn't been; we'd just gotten so excited at the Lincoln Memorial that we lost track of David, who'd given us such good preparation that we knew where to go to mee the bus).
Adult (Godmommy): I loved that David did not shy away from historical facts that were uncomfortable. He managed to be accurate and non-political. I loved that David included (vs. excluded or ignored) Black/African American figures and feats. I loved that David spoke of other nations' contributions to the U.S. monuments' diversity of style; it was great to hear the ethnic and national origins of artists who contributed to the Nation's treasures. I loved how proud David is of being from Washington, DC. His expertise was evident; his memory seemed photographic, and were he not so rushed to get so much in? Could have kept our attention for an entire day, if he had the time. Our group was pretty quiet and mild-mannered; we weren't raucous or even high energy. Yet? David managed to get laughter from us several times. Dusk and nighttime are hard time slots in which to do a good job. David and Chris were excellent. I am grateful and feel lucky to have stumbled upon their tour, especially while having children in tow. The tour was for them and it was a BIG hit.

Sally, our tour guide and Chris, our driver, we’re great. Sally is very knowledgeable about DC and gave a very informative tour, as well as answering any questions. Chris helped me on and off the bus at each stop (I am in my 70’s and have some mobility issues. The tour sites were beautiful in the evening and gave us a different perspective of the city. I would definitely take this tour again.

Confused about the add-on self-guided tour of the Washington Monument for the next day: is this a guaranteed spot to ride to the top?
Written 24 May 2023
The best way to ride to the top of the Washington Monument is to book it online. It costs a dollar per person to do so, using the parks service at the recreation.gov website. (Just Google it)
You can book about a month in advance for a particular slot but you will probably need to try to book each day at about the time the tickets are released. From memory this is about 10am local time. This is what I did and it took 4 attempts (4 days). The next best option is probably to go to the ticket office by the monument but you need to be there early: the time depends on the time of year. You can then take pot luck and try to get tickets for that day. The night tour you refer to will sell you a "free" ticket, which they presumably pre-ordered, as an add on to the tour. This is obviously an expensive way to do it but if you are too late to apply online before your visit to Washington, or you do not wish to queue first thing in the morning, it is a way to go up the monument. The tickets are for a stipulated time. Once you are up there, you may stay as long as you like to enjoy the view. It was good weather on the day we went and it was well worth the trip. Good luck. Which town is safe to stay near Washington DC? Maybe 15-30 minutes drive with variety of restaurants and supermarkets

While we were visiting Washington DC, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Alexandria - Carlyle. It is off of the Eisenhower Stop of the Yellow Line. You can see the hotel from the platform. We ate our meals in DC, and took the train back to the Hotel.

How do you accommodate the elderly with mobility issues. Is everyone expected to get off the bus?
Written 27 June 2022
It is entirely up to you. Towards the end I stayed on the bus as I was getting too tired and too cold😂 Having said that if you or somebody from your party is planning to stay on the bus the entire time I would look at other options where you have better visibility from the bus and maybe more spacious one than the one we had.

They asked us what hotel we were staying at but they didn’t come pick us up. I can say that the train stop is only a block from the meeting spot
