About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jean-Pierre J0 contributionsGreat tour mixing hiking and wine tastingWe loved this original tour. The lady guide was exceptional. We talked a lot about everything, the local trees and flowers, our families, and our trip experiences. We visited two wineries, and were lucky enough to be hosted by young frenchies (we are french ourselves). Arriving at a winery on foot, walking down to the tasting area, was very unusual. Wines of the second winery were worth it.Written 2 December 2024
- Inspire288240771770 contributionsAttentive tour guide, very beautiful walk! Our tour guide was Justine, we had a lovely time with her. She was so attentive and caring, always checking in on how we were doing, and took wonderful care of us. We walked through so many beautiful and scenic spots!Written 2 December 2024
- T5402QLmartinm0 contributionsOutstanding TourVery professional. Dell was waiting for us at the ferry terminal as promised and treated us to a fully personalized tour of the island. By the end of the day we felt like we were visiting with a close friend.Written 1 December 2024
- Matthew C0 contributionsWaiheke Island ExpertsDel was an excellent guide. She knows Waiheke Island in depth and was very flexible in customizing our experience. Unfortunately one of the wine tastings we scheduled was unavailable at the last minute but Del rearranged things to accommodate that issue.Written 1 December 2024
- samswobo0 contributionsAmazing!Maria was amazing and really made the tour special. She was incredibly knowledgeable about wildlife on the island (especially birds) plant life, and Māori history. My partner and I had an incredible time and she recommended some other activities for us to check out later on in the trip. Could not be more pleased with the experience nor more happy to have met her.Written 30 November 2024
- Mhseymour0 contributionsExcellent tourWe had a wonderful guide, Cindy, whose knowledge of the local plants and animals added enormously to our tour that took in beautiful countryside and spectaular views together with a couple of fabulous wine tastings . Her knowledge of the Maori culture and history also gave us a fascinating insight into how New Zealand is today.Written 29 November 2024
- Vacation7403690 contributionsIncredible walkWe recently enjoyed a wonderful day combining a scenic bush walk with visits to local vineyards, and it was a truly memorable experience. The bush walk itself was a peaceful escape. Justine was incredibly knowledgeable and made our experience wonderful! We learned so much about Waiheke Island. During the walk, we made our way to two nearby vineyards. The wine tasting was fantastic, with knowledgeable wine guides guiding us through a selection of wines. Justine took the best care making sure we were on time to our time slots. It was the ideal day for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy both the beauty of the island and the pleasures of wine. Highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful retreat with a touch of luxury!Written 28 November 2024
- Journey7102900 contributionsMy Guided Hike around the Waiheke Island with Terra and TideI recently visited the Waiheke Island as part of my solo new Zealand Adventure. As soon as I deboarded the Ferry, I was greeted by my Terra and Tide guide and hike partner for the day Dell. From there we embarked on a remarkable hiking adventure around the island. It was a roughly 5 KM hike, completely achievable by anyone with some hiking experience. The scenic beauty along the way is absolutely breathtaking and it follows you throughout the hike. Dell is very informed, and she constantly educated me on the Maori culture, introduced me to the native plants and bird species. She is also so kind and ensured I was comfortable and safe throughout the trip. At the end of the hike, we had a lovely picnic lunch by the sea and also dipped our feet in the cold and crisp water. From there, Dell took me to have a hokey pokey ice cream, before I took the ferry back to the mainland. This was truly a highlight of my New Zealand trip and Dell truly made it feel extra special. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and getting to spend a day with Dell, learning more about New Zealand, its culture, flora and fauna. Cannot wait to be back and would definitely book another hike with Terra and tide.Written 28 November 2024
- KDavisTampa0 contributionsGreat Hike and wonderful guideJustine was an amazing and knowledgeable guide. She quickly assessed our needs and combined our hike with a stop for olive and wine tasting. We really enjoyed both stops! It was simply a perfect and memorable day. I highly recommend this tour if you want to combine some activity with some relaxation.Written 27 November 2024
- Terese H0 contributionsGreat hiking tour - customizable for all abilities. Our guide and experience was phenomenal. Justine customized our tour based on our time constraint and she took us on an amazing hike and we did wine and olive oil tasting. Highly recommend this tour. 5 Star.Written 27 November 2024
- Curious477843943130 contributionsGreat day on WaihekeWaiheke Island is spectacular. Our travel agent had scheduled all of us for the 6 mile hike of the headlands. However, when we realized that not all of us would be able to complete 6 miles, our guide Justine made appropriate changes which enabled us all to see the town, have lunch on the beach and have a wonderful day on the island. Justine went the extra mile and more to make sure that all of us learned about the trees of New Zealand and had a good time, within our abilities.Written 26 November 2024
- Joan O0 contributionsWaiheke Double Headland WalkWe had two wonderful guides (one in training), both knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, history, environmental regulations and more. Interesting all the way round the Headlands. The 5 hours of hiking was ambitious and our guides watched that we were aware of some “difficult” areas on the path near a cliff or going up/down challenging sections. Overall it was a very worthwhile and memorable adventure. We highly recommend! Jim & JoanWritten 24 November 2024

Our guide, Tracy with Walking by Nature did an excellent job!! She shared history of the island, guided us through trails on the Headland Coastal area, through forest trails, and several beaches. She was very knowledgeable about life on the island, birds, trees and plants. We visited the Mud Brick Vineyard, and had our lunch on a beautiful beach in the village. She customized our trip for our interests and abilities. We definitely recommend this tour and Tracy, as our guide!! Ann and Charlie from North Carolina. USA/

We recently did the walking tour with Tracy and had a great experience! Everything ran on time and the walk was exactly what we were looking for. We got some good exercise in and also learned a lot about the island. We did a few hours of walking in the morning, followed by a delicious lunch on the beach that we picked up from the supermarket on the island, and then a shorter walk in the afternoon. Absolutely recommend regardless of your fitness level, as the guides will tailor the tour to you!

As one of the first things I decided to do after the lockdown, Waiheke was on top of the list. After searching a bit I found Walking by Nature and I decided to book this walking tour. The whole process was pretty straightforward!
I had the pleasure to have Gabrielle as my tour guide. She took the time to explain to me things that otherwise I wouldn´t have the chance to know - I think that makes the difference because it gives you a different perspective.
It was an amazing experience, the landscape is just astonishing! I highly recommend them!

We really enjoyed the stunning views and bays of Waiheke isl. Tyler guided us during the walk and shared her great knowledge about the beautiful nature. Towards the end of the hike Tyler got us a nice lunch so we got our energy boosted for the last hills to a beautiful 360* view of the island.
We'll certainly come back for another adventure.....

Really enjoyed our time w Justine. She came prepared w walking sticks for us (we’re 65 & 63). The weather was a little iffy but she allowed us to do whatever we felt comfortable with so the excursion ended up being a great experience for my wife & I.

This was our first stop on our honeymoon in New Zealand and our guide was Maria. I had done a lot of research on New Zealand and was really wanting to know more about the island of Waiheke. Maria was incredibly knowledgeable about all the animal and plant life and the conservation efforts for the island. This tour was a true highlight and she truly made this a magical experience as our introduction for New Zealand and it's ecology. It was truly unforgettable!

Lucie was super informative and fun to be with. She made our first full day in NZ really special.bShe knew a lot about Waiheke and was able to give us a very full understanding. In addition to the walk, she was able to then do a driving tour with us to more thoroughly see Waiheke.

had an excellent day hiking around the headlands with Lucie!!!! Had a nice orientation before we headed out and spent the morning hiking around the beautiful headlands of the Island. Then we had a great lunch on the beach followed by some time in town to have coffee and peruse the shops (your choice) before heading back on a hike to the ferry. Saw beautiful sights, birds, plants, and learned a lot about New Zealand!! Would definitely recommend.

Our first day out after arriving in New Zealand was this beautiful hike around Waiheke Island with our lovely guide, Justine. She set a lively pace and checked on us often to make sure we were comfortable. Be sure to know this more of a hike than a walk, but no better way to see the magnificent view near the top! We had lunch at an adorable cafe near the beach and then an easy walk back to the ferry. Justine was so friendly, easy to talk with and had excellent knowledge of the island. Highly recommend.
