- michellesR3887AB0 contributionsNo whining about this wonderful private wine tour. Too good to be true.Debbie Harris made sure our tour was wonderful in every way possible. She was highly informative, friendly, and well versed in the local lore of the boutique wineries we visited. She also was knowledgeable about the wines and their various qualities, histories, and the makers. Overall, a thoroughly relaxing day, made even better by her excellent driving on some very picturesque but windy, narrow country lanes. Her beautiful personality was filled with an open heart and grateful nature making us feel blessed and comfortable with her and our spiritual connection.Written 18 October 2024

- markfG2503VK0 contributionsFantastic Waiheke Wine TourWaiheke is a beautiful island and despite being winter was warm. The three vineyards we visited were all excellent and the wine amazing. Lunch at 372 on the beach was also fantastic. We were lucky enough to be the only group on the tour and our guide, Jo, was absolutely brilliant - knowledgable, entertaining and helpful. Thanks for making it such a great trip Jo!Written 31 July 2024
- Hamiltoncs0 contributionsExcellent Opportunity to visit some top wineries!A great opportunity to not only sample some excellent wines but also explore beautiful Waiheke Island. Simon was our guide, and he was GREAT!, not only knowledgeable about the vineyards we visited but also about the history of the Island itself. We visited three vineyards, one a certified organic that also had excellent olive oil and honey. Also, this was our first activity after arriving in New Zealand and a great way to kick off the trip, the short ferry ride provides a beautiful view of Aukland, and fresh air following many hours of flying. The tastings were all superb - my only regret is not being able to bring more wine home. Highly recommend this day trip.Written 27 June 2024

- lonk550 contributionsFlexibility on a private tourA great day with our private tour guide Janis. A comfortable drive throughout the Island with commentary about the history, culture, nature and, of course, wine. Private tastings at top wineries but the real benefit was Janis’ flexibility in adjusting our tour on the fly according to our tastes and preferences. An unscheduled visit to a private art gallery was the highlight.Written 19 April 2024

- bakedpuddin0 contributionsFirst time in Waiheke; SO glad I went with Ananda ToursMe and 7 friends (the "back-of-the-bus bandits") booked the Essence of Waiheke Wine Tour on Sat 13 Apr as a belated birthday celebration and to get to know each other more outside of work. I cannot recommend Ananda Tours enough! We were hosted by Simon, a friendly, knowledgeable and charismatic character with a great passion for what he does. He takes great care of his guests and easy to build rapport. We stopped at Mudbrick, Goldie and Casita Miro; Simon was extremely organised and with a laid back attitude that made you feel like you're all one big group of friends on an adventure together. Not to mention, the van was very clean with working windows, bright and airy for a comfortable ride. This was my first time on Waiheke Island and Ananda Tours (& Simon) really helped do the Island justice. We made amazing memories; I cannot wait to go back and will 100% be booking my next tour through Ananda as well.Written 13 April 2024

We had a wonderful day with Lance, our guide. He was so knowledgable about the island and so warm and kind. We picked this tour group, because they allowed my children to accompany us, where most tour companies in the area would not. We are well travelled expats, so the kids are used to such things. All of us enjoyed the olive oil tasting and the delicious charcuterie platter for lunch. Each vineyard did a great job of accommodating a dairy free request and various food allergies. Everyone in the group received delicious dark chocolate from Lance at the end of the tour. This was a most memorable day spent eating, drinking and enjoying beautiful scenery. The day is very well paced and was a highlight of our trip.

It was such a lovely day on the island!
We went to 4 amazing wineries, tasted some delicious wines perfectly paired with food, I highly recommend booking this tour! Debbi showed us around and talked about life on the island, time flew by wish I could’ve staid more..
Waiheke is beautiful and I recommend booking a wine tour as public transportation is not great and all the wineries get booked out in advanced.
Make sure you arrive 45min earlier for the ferry as it gets really busy.

You can always feel good about a tour when your destination is pretty much the same as a ferry boat loaded with locals. Right away on the scenic and frequently run 35:00 Ferry ride across Auckland Harbour, we chatted with several Kiwis who assured us we were in for a treat. They were right. From the minute Lance, a local island resident and dry humor specialist met our boat, we had a day full of interesting and beautifully situated small vineyards and tasting rooms, culminating with a picnic table lunch at one of the highest vineyards on the island.
We also did an olive oil stop and a food and wine pairing vineyard. All of the wineries were expecting us and gave us excellent samples and presentations.
We hated to say goodbye to Lance, but enjoyed spectacular weather and smooth sailing back across to Downtown Auckland. Just a glorious day.

Wow! This was such an amazing tour in so many ways and we highly recommend this tour to others. Our tour guide Bil, was so knowledgeable and friendly, making us immediately feel comfortable and welcome.
We went to three wineries and the Rangihoua Olive Oil Estate. We received a presentation from staff at each location and were provided a variety of delicious fresh food paired to compliment the wine tastings. You could see the amount of passion from the staff, who were enthusiastic and helpful to answer any questions.
For what this tour provided, we thought it was well priced. It really exceeded our expectations, thank you for a lovely day.

We visited 1 olive oil tasting room and 3 wineries. Wines and olive oil were good. The problem was the actual tour. Couldn’t hear the drivers narration in the small packed van if you were in the back. We told him we couldn’t hear in the back but nothing was done about it. So we heard nothing about this beautiful little island. The last stop we had a full pour of wine plus lunch which turned out to be just 3 appetizer trays. We sat and watched the pastry chef make delicious looking tiramisu but sadly didn’t get any!!!

Hi Pamela,
Thanks for taking the time to communicate your disappointments about your tour.
Our company policy is to refund your tour in full if your not 100% satisfied
which we shall do today.
There are a few things that could have made the experience better for you.
The vehicle we used on that day is our late model Mercedes Sprinter with a spare seat in the front which may have suited you better. It is advertised has having a maximum of 18 people and yes we did have 18 people on the tour that day.
Normally on a Monday wed expect 6 or 8 people but this season has been exceptionally busy every day.
For this reason we changed your tour group from our usual lunch venue which we knew was heavily booked, to Poderi Crisci a well respected Italian , a little further into the countryside.
After checking with everybody on the tour first, we extended the day by one hour to allow enough time for a more relaxed experience.
With group tours we have an arrangement with the vineyard for lunch and a glass of wine. Should anyone want more wine, beer,or a dessert this is just a matter of asking for it and being prepared to pay the extra.
Maybe this could have been made more clear to you before the lunch began
I have checked the speaker system and it works perfectly. The driver said he remembered someone asking him to turn up volume which he did.
Im glad the olive oil and the the 3 vineyards were all good.
Sorry the tour wasn't perfect
Please contact us with your booking details so we can issue a refund.

Ananda went above and beyond for us! We had booked the half day gourmet tour but decided the Saturday before the Monday, during the busiest week of the year (between Christmas and New Years) that we would like to do a private tour. Brooke at Ananda scrambled and spent hours of her busy Saturday morning crafting a bespoke tour of the Allpress olive farm, and the Mudbrick winery.
To add to that, when we met our guide Jo, she mentioned that there was another winery which had recently won Best Syrah in the World, as well as Best New Zealand wine and Best Organic Red Wine—Kennedy Point. She mobilized and set up a private tour for us there while we were enjoying the olive farm tour, and we were fortunate to not only taste the actual triple award winning wine, but also meet the winemaker Randall.
Jo them showed us other parts of the island and shared history and cultural anecdotes, and took us to a lunch (again, reserved at a busy time at the last minute by Brooke) on a beautiful beach.
Bottom line, Ananda moved swiftly and well to create a bespoke tour for us with a lot of care and support. We will use them in the future and heartily recommend them!

This was the highlight of our Auckland trip. Our tour guide Simon was absolutely amazing, as was the set up and hosts at each of the places visited (3 wineries + one olive oil tasting.) Food was paired well and perfect for us -- more tapas and apps, vs. a heavy meal. It was nice to see so much of the island with the help and transportation of a tour, since otherwise we would have seen hardly anything and been quite lost. Would highly recommend this tour!

Ananda tours were excellent. They answered my queries I had before I booked promptly. The Gourmet’s Food and Wine tour was excellently guided by Michael on the day who kept the minibus entertained with commentary on the views of Waiheke Island and general chit chat. The vineyards were all well presented and different from each other. The time flew and the lunch platter was most generous. Would recommend!

What a great experience from start to finish, and that’s from the booking. Arranged ferry without asking, most of all due to road works splitting the island had a van come to pick us up and drop at the main group then took us home again in own van, we’ll to the beach actually. The operators were both top of their game and were only complimented by the Vineyard host. A fantastic experience and highly recommended. Great wine tasting and the food with each tasting was incredible. Lunch just topped it off!

Had an amazing day exploring with Simon. We were taken to 3 very different wineries & a patio restaurant on the beach for lunch. The gardens & views at Budbrick Vineyard were especially spectacular. Simon colorfully shared so much about the history of the island along with info on Waiheke wines, people & businesses. The mini-bus was spotless and I really appreciated the super clean windows as the views were exceptional. He also dropped me off in town close to a beach access to enjoy the remainder of the day.
