- millwatermadman0 contributionsTop day touring Waiheke with a top blokeEnjoi Tours curated an excellent tour, a mix of iconic and lesser known Waiheke Vineyards. Postage Stamp, a relative newcomer from an excellent stable started the day in style with a crackling rose, and way too drinkable rose, very palatable Pinot Gris too. Te Motu, a classic, charming setting and of course classic Bordeaux style reds. Been here that long that vertical tasting dates back and back and back, classy! The Batch for lunch was serendipity in itself. You couldn’t help but be pleasantly surprised by this smooth operation and fantastic lunch spot, the highest on the island. Great Methode Champenoise, easy to drink Merlot Malbec. A quick detour to Onetangi beach to dip the toes in the sparkling Waitemata, then on to a real delight, Casita Miro. Excellent tasting, little bites matching food with wine and inspired touch! Paprika oil! OMG get some, wines, including a fortified wine, flavors explode when wine is correctly paired with the morsels provided. Back to the ferry and say goodbye to our host for the day, David, with more stories of Island Life than there are episodes of Shortland Street, An absolute character and a lot of fun.Written 4 February 2024

- DEB C0 contributionsExceeded expectations!! Highly recommend this tour and this company! This experience far exceeded our expectations. The wineries were fabulous. The trip was well organized. And David, the driver /guide was terrific. His driving was careful, his commentary was fun and informative, and his demeanor was professional. The winery that was chosen for lunch was spectacular, the food was so good!! Days before the trip my interaction with the owner was prompt and super helpful as she added was able to accommodate another couple at the last minute. I cannot say enough good things about this trip and this company. Highly recommend!!!Written 3 February 2024

Total of 15 tasting- so one short of the stated 16 tasting but at a certain point one doesn’t need the last one. Daniel our driver/guide was very good. Had good experience at the different wineries except at the Batch winery. The tasting was a RUSH to get us thru and then we ate lunch there. Food was good but packed us in like cattle. David, our guide was a great laugh and made the day very interesting. All the vineyards offered something a little different and we enjoyed the lunch stop at The Batch Winery. We had a really great tour guide and our group got along really well, highly credit the guide for this. I have been on a lot of tours, but have never been with a group of different peoples from different parts of the World, who had so much fun together! I wish I had written our tour guide name down.
There were 6 of us that signed up for the tour, but we signed up after the other 4 did; this caused us to be on a different tour than them. BUT, we wound up being glad we did, because we had so much fun! The other 4 enjoyed their tour, but said it sounded like we had more fun than they did. That was due to our tour guide; he knew how to involve everyone and ensure everyone enjoyed the tour.
We toured Goldie Estate, Postage Stamp (Obsidian) Vineyard, Batch Winery, Cellar Door Vineyard, and Churchill Vineyard; we enjoyed each one. We had time to explore each one, the wines we tasted were explained, plenty of time for questions, and never felt rushed.
We were back in time for the ferry we wanted to catch. Recommend reserving your ferry tickets ahead of time, if possible, to make sure you can get on the ferry you need. You will need to exchange the electronic ticket for a paper one; we did this the day before. We showed our ID and they looked it up online, then printed the tickets for us (not the tour group, the ferry service office does this).
Of note, when you get off the ferry, there are a number of tour guides with signs. Initially, we spoke to someone with a sign for tour for vineyards, but they were not the correct one; this was our fault. Make sure you look for someone with the ‘Enjoi’ sign. If you book through GetYourGuide, all the information is available there; we booked the winery tour that way, was easy.

AMAZING Wine Region atop an Island! But could experience the same for cheaper via hop-on/hop-off bus
Mar 2024 • Friends
Overall, I would highly recommend any drinker or enjoyer of wines visit Waiheke! I may have rather chosen the "hop-on, hop-off" bus experience.
Although the day is listed as a 6 hour activity, it's realistically closer to 5, or even 4.5 hours. The listed start time is 10:35 AM, but none of the ferries arrived perfectly at that 10:35 or just before it, so we took the 9am ferry and arrived at 10am, and had to wait around until 10:35. Then, we had to wait longer still for people who took the 10am ferry to arrive at 10:45, so we did not get the tour started until around 11am. At the end, the tour guide seemed to be eager for us to get on the 4pm ferry. This meant ending our last winery tasting by 3:45. So, the day did not feel quite like the full 6 hours as advertised.
Our four vineyard stops on a Tuesday in late March included:
1st stop: Mudbrick
2nd stop: Te Motu
3rd stop: Batch Winery (lunch stop)
4th stop: Casita Miro
Most had 4 tastings, I think the last one only had 5. Our tour guide, John, was efficient and good at monitoring our timing. Unfortunately, this left me feeling rushed throughout the day. The tastings were approximately 20 minutes or so each but when one was done, we were shuttled to the next one and I did not feel like there was much time to buy another glass or look around at the wineries' shops.
The wineries themselves were, of course, amazing and delicious. Lots of interesting information at each with knowledgeable tasting guides.
The Enjoi "tour guide" was essentially just a driver, though. I personally felt rushed more often than not. As someone who has done winery tours in the Marlborough and Otago regions, I would recommend seasoned tasters use the hop on hop off bus instead for a cheaper price and more freedom with your schedule.

Our guide, Dave, was fun and fabulous! In terms of the wineries, Mudbick and Batch stood out as stellar in terms of location, hospitality, knowledge and wines. Postage Stamp lacked customer care, atmosphere, location and tasting were skinny and not well interpreted...I would recommend Enjoi to pick another winery from this one. Wild on Waiheke was great on customer service, wine and food but there are no views here-only fun things to do. I would recommend to include Soho and/or Casino Miro and you could probably fit 5 wineries into your 4 schedule. I noticed that your organisation was super adaptable to some of our group I didn't know who were late, missed the ferry, caught up with us later, needed a ride to the first tasting (as they had missed it) etc. I was impressed with how communicative and flexible, accommodation you were to all of this! Overall, I really enjoyed my day-little wee fan rattled a bit and aircon didn't fully run, the choice of wineries is crucial and needs a bit of a review. 100% for the guide.

This was truly not worth money
Nobody and ferry landing on arrival although I was early so I found bus
Absent driver
lots of unattended luggage reserving seats
and a few people onboard
Driver eventually came back 5 mins before start time
No roll call no explanation then sit there without explanation waiting on two travelers
Bus dangerously overcrowded
all seat full and little mid passage way flip downs used
MOST UNCOMFORTABLE and crowded
Very little dialogue from driver
No itinerary given
First winery Mudbrick shunted into a corner to stand in full sun
orders taken for lunches
At lunch the service and organisation was haphazard
I ordered seared fish
EVERONE at tale had finished and i asked and the guy jut grabbed a plate off another staff member who was walking around aimlessly in silence
It was stone cold
The last winery we arrived and there was not a single place for us to taste
So out guide told people to stand in a field or in our case sit at a bar
a clearly wat yo busy woman brought us a glass of ???
We asked her what is was she didn't answer
It was some sort of white sparkling which was flat
Then we were herded onto a dirty table and the same woman just poured a few glasses
No water no spitoon
and just and announcement of the name of the wine
This was not a tour for anyone interested in wine
The offerings at each winery were all very young and not premium wines. I am not expecting 50 year old wines but... come on.
It was the driver rushing to get back to the ferry
I am sorry I delayed him, we could have saved ourselves the money and you need not have run the tour
I did 3 other wine tasting trips in Auckland this was by far the worst
an d one in Napier --still the worst for organisation and customer comfort

Thank you for your feed back. Due to covid our other drivers were in isolation, rather than cancel your tour last minute we got a back up driver.
With the ferries being late and guests arriving at different times some get in the bus with luggage. The driver would have been greeting the late comers.
I do apologise there was no greeting and itinerary run through as this is what we do on all our tours.
I am also extremely sorry the vineyards were over crowded and you felt shunted into a corner, we have no control on they way they serve you BUT we do visit cellar doors that we trust will give our guests a great experience, this all comes down to staffing issues due to covid. Maybe where you arrived from does not have the same issues as we are experiencing.
You chose the busiest time of the year and unfortunately again we have no control over ferries and busy venues, it is not our organisation.
I will talk to the guide that took your tour as we do pride ourselves on service and this is extremely upsetting to read.
You will see from past reviews that we do offer a fun and lasting experience.
I’m glad you enjoyed other wine tours in Napier and Auckland, it’s obvious that the 5,000 extra visitors off the cruise ship came to Waiheke and allowed you comfort.
Happy to refund you!!!

I cannot say enough good things about this wine tour, particularly about our guide Zoltan, who was absolutely delightful.
On this particular trip, we visited four wineries — Batch, Postage Stamp, Stonyridge and Mudbrick. There was something for everyone to enjoy in our small group of nine, including folks from Australia, Canada, Scotland and Ireland. Each winery had stunning views, friendly staff and enjoyable wines. Zoltan paced the tour exceptionally well, with no one feeling rushed. He shared great knowledge of the island in between stops, took time to let us take some epic snaps at a scenic viewpoint, and even gave me a great recommendation for a cliffside hike after the tour was over. Even as a solo traveler, I felt exceptionally comfortable throughout and had a great time on this beautiful island. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a scenic and easygoing break from Auckland’s hustle and bustle.

We had the best time on our expert guided tour of Waiheke. This tour was a last minute decision after we found our we couldn't book the hop on hop off bus option. So glad we did this instead. Not only did we get a Waikeke local and all around amazing person (Michelle) as our guide, but we also got to make the most of our one day on Waiheke! If we had booked our original plan of hop on, hop off we definitely wouldn't have had as nice of an experience. Those lines are long for the hop on hop off, and sometimes we wouldn't have been able to get another bus for over an hour due to the buses being full already. Anyway, back to the tour review. Michelle took us to 4 amazing vineyards, gave us a locals tour of the island, entertained us with her amazing stories of Waiheke and then safely dropped us off at the ferry. I seriously didn't want to leave the island. Next trip to NZ we will definitely be staying ON Waiheke for a couple of days. Just an overall amazing experience and I can't wait to come back for more!

Great selection of wineries (4) our fave was Casita Miro! Lunch & cocktails at The Batch was pre-ordered delicious! Glorious views once the rain clouds had cleared for the afternoon. Our driver Dave was excellent banter/DJ and very knowledgeable about the island inhabitants and local businesses. He is obviously very proud of his home and passionate about people - lovely man!
We were slightly disapointed about missing out on the morning coffee stop due to waiting for late arrivals on next ferry. Saturdays are busy crossings so arrive early people! However this did not spoil the rest of the day.
Thank you!

What an amazing experience! The amount of vineyards, wine and sightseeing you get makes this tour incredible value for money.
The tour is only as good as the guide and in Michelle you have a one of a kind person. Not only did she have a depth of knowledge that was unmatched, but she was one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Me and my partner came to view the vineyards and the island before embarking on a year long working holiday visa and Michelle didn't just give us great tips, she went out of her way to help us understand the work available on the island and introduce us to the vineyards as well. It was a magical day and space.
The joy of this tour is measured by the pure beauty of Wahieke, the delicious wines in beautiful settings and the legend that is Michelle!

After catching the (very packed) ferry to Waiheke Island we and 13 others were picked up by our tour guide ( and her dog) in a fairly basic mini van. The van lacked air conditioning and a rear vision mirror, and the microphone was also broken which meant the guide had to shout throughout the tour. We visited four wineries, tasting three or four wines at each. At the last two tastings there was limited or no seating available. At lunch time the guide left us at one winery for 90 minutes to have a pre-ordered lunch which we paid for individually. The delivery of the lunch came out in dribs and drabs and seemed somewhat disorganised.
We were dropped off at the ferry at 4pm, but as it was a sunny Sunday the boarding line was very long and we shuffled forward until finally boarding at 5.15pm.
I had advised in writing that I had some mobility issues due to a recent operation, but no provision was made to address this. I found the stairs in and out of the bus and up to two of the wineries very challenging, and there was no assistance offered or chair provided, so I sat on a metal ladder in one winery.
In summary, this could not be described as a luxury tour, despite paying $330 for two. It also doesn’t really suit people with mobility problems. The guide was friendly and knowledgeable and we enjoyed the company of our fellow passengers. Perhaps better suited to a younger clientele?

Fantastic tour of Waheike vineyards!!!
Michelle, our guide, is just wonderful! She gave us heaps of information about the island and the wines as we travelled around the beautiful countryside. She ensured everyone had a great time and felt comfortable around eachother. She also gave us lots of great tips and recommendations for the rest of our NZ trip!!
The tour is great value for money, as you get to try a lot of wine in such beautiful surroundings! We loved the Postage Stamp vineyard in particular.
Would 100% recommend this tour!

We purchased our ferry ticket electronically, ahead of time, to ensure we got the time we wanted; but, you have to go to where you buy the ferry tickets, to exchange electronic one for paper one. But, this ensures you get the ferry time you want.

If you ask in advance sometimes they can fit it in the day but it's a 40 min drive on a metal road so something else has to give. Best to dedicate another day to just Man o War on it's own. Worth the effort

I just want to make sure I am understanding correctly: I catch the 10am ferry from Fuller and I will make it on time for the tour? I am reading that the ferry ride is close to 40 minutes. I dont want to miss the tour by 5-10 mins :(
