Can't rave enough
Absolutely loved our trip! So exciting to see the dolphins! The music was beautiful & the music in the cave bought a tear to my eye!! Highly recommend. Just need the commentary to be louder.

Awesome Trip
Apr 2021
Fantastic trip if you want a different dolphin watching/boating experience compared to the catamaran competitor. Fox 11 is a genuine 99 year old wooden (NZ rimu) sailing ship originally built for trading around Auckland. Halfway down the harbour up went the sail and we sailed and motored out to the Akaroa harbour and beyond. Great commentary from Captain Roy with his lovely New York Accent. Throughly recommended.

Simply The Best
If you are in beautiful Akaroa and thinking of taking a Sailing and Wildlife Cruise, Captain Roy has daily departures from Daly's Wharf on the Fox II, NZ's oldest gaff rigged ketch. You are guaranteed to see Hectors Dolphins 🐬 and we also saw a penguin, seals, albatross and numerous other seabirds. Roy has incredible knowledge of the area and gave a running commentary whilst his able Hand Sabrina took care of rigging and making us hot drinks. Forget the rest... GO WITH THE BEST!

A must do!
Booked last minute and so happy we did as it was the highlight of our trip. How nice to travel in an old boat with such history. The Captain provides so much Information. Delighted we picked this boat over the other bigger boats. Great value for money!

We are sailing, we are watching nature live.
Feb 2021
The whole experience from go to whoa was a thrilling and memorable adventure. We enjoyed the comfortable ride, the informative commentary by the skipper, seeing the bird life, visiting the 'cathedral' cove, having an exciting sail out on the sea at the harbour entrance, and of course watching the many hectors dolphins doing their 'stuff'. Several females had calves with them and the antics of the dolphins as usual were amazing to view. To top the journey off we had sparkly wine to celebrate and others purchased drinks too.
The 'first mate' Sabrina was very affable and provided a free hot drink and biscuit to end the trip. Totally recommend.

Best sailing adventure in Akaroa
Feb 2021
An amazing “must do” experience when in Akaroa. More authentic than the other options. I saw Hector’s dolphins, little blue penguins and seals, plus such interesting commentary about the history of Akaroa from the wonderful captain Roy. An absolute treat!

Fantastic 3 hour’s
Spur of the moment decision however one of the best 3 hours spent. Excellent commentary and the ability to get close to shore to see the seals, shags etc. Plenty of opportunities to see the Hectors Dolphins up close. The ketch goes past the heads out into the Pacific Ocean and we were lucky enough to see Albatross looking for fish. Coming back under full sail with no motor is amazing. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Akaroa

Awesome trip
Myself & 8yr old Grand daughter went on this awesome Ketch, we spent about 3 hrs enjoying the Hector dolphins, seals & we saw 1 little blue penguin. The captain pointed out landmarks and explained the history of Akaroa as we sailed. When when stopped to enjoy the dolphins, music was played and it was like the dolphins were dancing around the boat. I would love to enjoy this cruise another time, great value, and an awesome afternoon, thank you.

THE BEST!!!~!!!
Jan 2021
Listen up ladies and gents this IS the tour to do if your in Akaroa, Captain and crew are great and very knowledged about the area. The boat is fantastic. Don't waste your time on a big cat when this is available. We literally watched dolphins for eva as the swam along with the boat, personally I think they liked the theme from Star Wars the best (ok maybe that was me). Best $$ I spent on my South Island trip.
