    Fabulous tour
One of the best tours we have had. Our guide, regrettably I cannot remember her name, was absolutely super, she was so knowledgeable and kind. The tour is very accommodating with time, making sure everyone had a good time and knew about the food they were eating. The tour even ran over and the guide was still very attentive. I would not recommend this tour for vegetarians as there is a lot of meat, although there may be meat free alternatives I'm unaware of. Such an interesting building with history and of course the market itself is bustling, with a great atmosphere. I would 100% recommend this tour so you get a more in depth knowledge of one of Rigas best attractions.

Rushed and tour guide no interest in us at all we were processed food was fine but rushed
Arrived late everyone was stood around very cold, never asked our names and we felt rushed all way through just dumped us at end and went off to do another tour, not a relaxed tour at all

    Really interesting local food market
Had a brilliant time going around this fascinating market trying meats, cheeses, soup, drinks, candy…. Very knowledgable and engaging host and great value at €29 given the amount of food and the length of the tour. Highly recommend. Helped us make food choices for the rest of the time we were in Latvia and also in making purchases to bring back!

    Latvian food tasting tour.
Very disappointed as night our tour got email saying it was cancelled as not enough people signed up for it. Also said we could rebook but we were leaving the next day.

Fast IN Fast OUT - just how i LOVE it!
So, I came in very much at the end of the day, thinking that probably all meal had run out, but no, I came lucky ! Very much to do with that was the person behind the counter as I could not make out what was left, and not, with all written in Latvian, on certain days I am more challenged than on others and I was short for time as I had to be in the next place within 10 minutes. Thus, I made the choice for a ''soup-like'' Chicken dish served with the right trimmings, rice atop and offered Nan-bread I did not say no. Glass of water (free) made it up at EUR 5 I was happy! Not much later the owner came by greeted me, we exchanged some words - I was glad to see him as am I when I see his wife - because the two of them together made my life here in Riga bearable when they opened an affordable. Staff turnover has always been low with people staying at minimum 6-7 years which also brings the story forward so if you are hungry - Go THERE! Also if a Vegetarian or Vegan - they will accommodate you! But, as they are deservedly popular, don't wait till 5 p m , 11:00 - 15:00 is PRIME time!:) Thank you Richard & Linda and great staff! Keep going, we need you so much!!:)

    Taste of Latvia
Nice variety of Latvian cuisine in the largest central market in Europe. Some delicious, others good but we probably wouldn’t like to have again, and some others we didn’t like at all. But testing them out was part of the fun. Communication could’ve been much better and straightforward from the start of booking. Initial meeting place changed for seemingly no reason, and many seemed confused as to why we don’t meet at the market itself (better than random, changing addresses followed by a walk through a dusty construction zone). Also the guide was mostly congenial but she snapped at a group member at one point just for asking her to repeat the name of a fish (her first language was not English and although she speaks it decently enough, it’s not always easy to understand her). She also could do a better job of waiting to start speaking until all group members have caught up to the next stop.

    Highly recommend this foodie experience
Highly recommend this food tour for anyone wanting to experience a wide range of Latvian cuisine and hear the stories behind them. Our tour guide was amazing, very friendly and funny, giving us a great experience. We tried many different meats, fishes, cheese, pickled vegetables, drinks and sweets. Nothing was obligatory but we tried everything and had a great time. It gave us a really good understanding of Latvian food and the markets were really interesting, there is so much to see.

Fun and informative Art Nouveau tour.
Our guide was friendly and unhurried. She shared the knowledge in a fun way. She knew a lot about the general history of Latvia, but especially about the architecture of Riga. In particular, about Art Nouveau. After all, that was what we booked the tour for!

    Very nice, but overpriced
The tour itself is nice, you are exploring Central market in Riga with a nice guide who explains a lot about Latvian food and drinks. There are also some degustations included, what is great to enrich your experience. The only minus is, by my opinion, a bit overpriced ticket, 50 EUR, on Tripadvisor.

Plenty of snacks with a side of booze.
Interesting, fun, and yummy food tour in Riga. The advertisement was for "samples", but we had so much food! The guide was really informative and nice, and had a lot of interesting facts. Fun tour and a little boozy.

    Good food tour
Good food tour with a small amount of history. Guide was a little late but she made an extra food stop to make up for it. We essentially had a meat, cheese, veggie and fish station where we had food as well as a quick stop for local spirits a few times. The meat and fish were challenging for me but the cheese and veggies were awesome. The alcohol was all strong but very good.

good tasting of Latvian food , group size is probably slightly too large
You meet about 5 mins outside of the market (this probably isn't necessary anymore). Good assortment of tastings and explanation of food/drink. I think the group size was slightly too large and sometimes you couldn't hear what the guide was saying.

    Amazing tour and delicious food
We had an absolutely amazing time on this tour! Our guide Guna was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history and the variety of produce at the Central Markets. The food was amazing and we even tried some Latvian Balsam and artisan honey vodka :) I couldn't recommend this tour more highly!

You are crazy if you don’t do this tour
We weren’t going to do yet another city tour but caved with this one. It was SOOOOOO worth it. For over 2 hours our fabulous guide, Guna, walked us thru the city markets. We tried an incredible variety of traditional Latvian foods and beverages. We learned so much, things we never would have even known to try. It is more than a tasting tour…. It is authentic Latvia.

This walking tour was fantastic. Rita our guide was there before time and engaged with each member of the tour and found something that interest them and then included it during the tour which gives a fantastic feel of the old town but she was very eager to encourage exploration of other areas of her city. She was local and gave huge insight to us that would have been missed.

Yes, we agree Rita is fantastic and so was your time, as we see! Excellent to know and we hope rest of the stay in Riga for you was just as good as the tour!

We spent a couple of hours in Guna’s company & in that time we learnt a lot about Latvia and Riga’s history. Guna made sure that the content was interesting & easy to listen to. We really enjoyed the experience!

Enjoyed walking the old town of Riga with Guna (sp?) our guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of Riga and included some fun tidbits. Enjoy doing about the locks in the city and having the love locks for melted down along with old keys from city towns people to make the large key by the Townhall. Loved seeing the art nouveau buildings and learning the history of the house of the Blackheads, and the origins of the “first” Christmas tree.

This walking tour was fantastic. Our guide was Rita, and she told us about the history of Latvia, the city of Riga, Latvian food, and, popular traditions. It was easy to follow along, and took about 1.5 hours.

I booked and paid for this tour through Trip Advisor. The meeting point was easy to find and Guna is an excellent guide. We were a large group but Guna made sure we all were able to see and hear everything.
It turned out this is a free walking tour where the other guests tip her whatever they want but she explained to me and one other person that we should not tip her as we had already paid through TA. Even in the link to review it, it has come up as a no-cost tour. Whatever you pay, Guna is worth every penny - I just hope she gets every penny!

I usually like to take a short city tour to start my visit at a new city, then decide where I'd like to further explore. This walking tour is a great way to start learning something about this country's history and culture. I learned a lot from a short tour, so much information that I'd spend hours researching otherwise. You can also hear many interesting stories and fun "secrets" during this tour.
My guide's name is Guna. She's one of the most impressive guides I've ever met! She's very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I was really touched by her passion about her job and her deep love for her country and people. As a tourist on a short trip, one of my few opportunities to get in touch with locals is with guides. Guna definitely made herself a great "sample" of Latvian people!

Our guide Guna was informative and knowledgable and we learnt so much about Riga’s history from her stories and facts. If we had walked around on our own we would have missed so much. The black balsam & chocolate were much appreciated., Highly recommend this tour.

Really informative, engaging and interesting walk around the key sites in the old town. A great orientation on the first day. The guide was a really personable and entertaining local, this able to give a genuine perspective. Did not shy away from controversial issues but conveyed a sense of national pride. Highly recommend. We followed it straight after with a food tour of the central market with the same company - actually the same guide!

Our tour guide was great, she also mixed in some personal family stories which I appreciate. We saw quite a bit in the 1:45; she kept it at a good pace. I always recommend this kind of a tour as an intro, so you can explore on your own for the remaining trip.

An excellent walking tour with our guide Guna, who took us around the Old Town providing lots of fascinating stories and many details we may never have spotted on our own. It was all very interesting and the stories were told with humour and sensitivity. An hour and a half very well spent. Highly recommended! (You can book online for free to reserve your place but pay the guide at the end of the tour, so bring cash).
