Overview
Even with just half a day to spare, get out of Kraków and visit one of Poland’s most cherished monuments on a guided tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Get picked up at your hotel for an easy journey to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll descend deep underground to explore a vast network of historic mining tunnels, saline lakes, and intricate salt sculptures carved over centuries.
What to Expect
After pickup at your Kraków hotel, travel for about an hour to reach Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of the oldest and largest salt mines in the world. With your included entrance fee, enter the mine and descend more than 200 steps into an expensive underground network. A guide will show you the way through a maze of tunnels, chambers, and stairways built over eight centuries.

Learn about the fascinating history of the mine and browse a collection of antique mining equipment that dates back to the Middle Ages. Breathe deep in the mine’s mineral-rich microclimate, which is thought to have health benefits, and admire detailed shrines and sculptures carved entirely from salt rock.

You’ll be dropped off at a convenient point in central Kraków after the tour. As a bonus, receive a free Kraków sightseeing audio guide when you book.

Excellent tour of Salt Mine

Seamless trip to the Salt Mine. Very well organised. Our guide at the mine, Marcin I think he was called, was excellent. There was nothing I would say negative about this tour ans would use the company again.

Truly amazing

A truly amazing tour with knowledgeable guides. Many, many steps, so you must be fairly fit, especially if visiting after a day trip to Auschwitz. Take your camera and make sure it is fully charged. We took so many beautiful photos to treasure and, unlike...More

Initially there is a continuous series of steps which are all downwards. there is a lift down which gives you a more limited tour
