Overview
Getting to Cesky Krumlov from Prague independently is possible by bus or train, but leaves you in the UNESCO-listed town to find your way around and possibly overlook important details. Make the most of the town and its castle, uncover their history, and avoid the associated travel hassles, with this guided tour. Plus, it includes lunch in one of Cesky’s oldest buildings: an experience you might otherwise miss.
What to Expect
Your day begins with pickup at your central Prague hotel, where you board a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle to drive to Cesky Krumlov.

On arrival in the UNESCO-listed town, absorb the sense of history infused in the squares, pastel-painted houses, and narrow streets. Take a walking tour as your guide charts Cesky’s history and shows you the must-sees, including the Gothic, Renaissance, and baroque mansions once owned by powerful medieval nobles.

Then head for Cesky Krumlov Castle, the fortress that dominates the town, and the Czech Republic’s second-biggest.

In summertime, explore the main rooms with their antiques, tapestries, and weaponry. Alternatively, when the castle is closed—on Mondays or in winter—explore the Castle Museum to chart its history and treasures of Cesky’s one-time ruling nobles.

Finally, enjoy time to stroll and shop independently before your trip ends at the original Prague starting point.

Hi. We went in a bus but I’d estimate 2.5 hours in a car with a short stop. Depends on time of year you’re going with tourist traffic etc. It seemed to be a good road and bus handled it easily. The bus tour is good as they... More
