Overview

Get to know Prague Castle and the Castle District on foot during this half-day walking tour. Book this guided tour, and check a major must-see off your to-do list. Learn about the ancient history of the area through your guide's in-depth commentary as you explore Mala Strana, the Golden Lane, and views of St. Vitus Cathedral.

What to Expect

Meet your guide and group in central Prague, and set off on your walking tour. You won't have to worry about fussing with a map or planning a route because your guide has planned out a comprehensive Prague Castle itinerary for you.

Cross the Vltava River and catch your first views of the castle as your guide provides an orientation. Then climb the hillside and enter the baroque Mala Strana district. Pause to snap photos of the World War II memorial and St. Nicholas Church, and then take the tram up to the castle.

Enter through the North Gate, passing the Powder Bridge and the Royal Gardens on the way to Hradčany Square. See the Scwarzenberg Palace, the Second and Third Courtyards, and the enormous St. Vitus Cathedral. After checking out the church's interior, head for the Golden Lane, where your guide sheds light on the past inhabitants, including Franz Kafka, goldsmiths, and fusiliers. Get much more information on this history-rich area from your guide than you would exploring on your own.

End up at a spot on the hillside that looks out over the city, a perfect vantage point for a last photo. Alternatively, walk back to the Charles Bridge together, where your guided tour ends.

We took two SANDEMANs tours in Prague: the free walking tour and the castle tour. Both were fantastic. Our free walking tour guide, Ian, was laid back and very knowledgeable about the city. We asked him for restaurant recommendations as we wanted to try traditional...More

Stephan is a very good guide!

We started the tour with someone else, but switched after 5 minutes, because we heared Stephan had a nice accent. For tourist is nice to hear a native speaker, and Stephan sounds native, although he is a czech.

The tour starts with a 30 minute walk from the city centre to eventually a tram stop that takes you uphill to outside the entrance of the Castle gardens. From there we walked for about 2 hours. There was a break of about 20... More

No...but I think it may be on an "off the beaten path tour" which is listed on this trip advisor site. It's only US$12.85 for a 2.5 hour tour...(less than what you might give as a tip on a "free" tour). But you should write... More
