Even though most travelers only opt to visit Ayers Rock (Uluru), there’s so much more to see in Australia's Red Centre. Make the most of your time in the desert on a 4-day camping tour that provides the most comprehensive overview of the area. Traveling by 4WD vehicle and camping beneath the stars, discover places that many tourists don’t as you explore Ayers Rock (Uluru), Kings Canyon, and the Olgas (Kata Tjuta), and the West MacDonnell Ranges at a relaxed pace.
  • See more of the Red Centre on a 4-day camping trip
  • Travel between landmarks with ease in a 4WD vehicle
  • Tick off less-known and therefore less-crowded attractions
  • See Ayers Rock (Uluru) at sunrise and sunset
What to Expect
This 4-day tour covers the highlights of Australia’s Red Centre at a relaxed pace. In an intimate group limited to 16, tick off natural wonders such as Ayers Rock (Uluru)—which you see at both sunrise and sunset—and the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Learn about Aboriginal folklore and tradition, discover the West MacDonnell Ranges and Ellery Creek, and embark on guided hikes through the Outback. Plus, all meals are included, along with camping gear, drinking water (bring your own bottle), transportation by 4WD, and hotel pickup and drop-off.

The itinerary for this tour and all the sights you see are spectacular and the tour group was friendly and nice. However, if you are looking to see the sights while still enjoying a decent sleep and shower, then this isn’t the tour for you. The campsites are actually just at

When the itinerary you get when you book this tour is so different from the experience you get with this company, you could ask WTF? So we did, ask the company, and like other reviewers we got excuses, platitudes, and lots of words around "misalignment of expectations" etc. We

It may not be suitable unless you are used to camping where restroom facilities are a 10 min walk in the dark or too few for the number of campers. You arrive and depart campgrounds after dark. Prepare to rise very early, minimal continental breakfast, very little time for

Response from StaceyH_Feedback, Wayoutback Australian Safaris at 4-Day 4WD Camping Tour: Uluru, Kata Tjuta, and Kings Canyon
Responded 6 Jun 2019
Dear RainbowTraveller_11, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback following your recent Wayoutback Tour. I am sorry to see that some aspects of your tour have not met your expectations and I welcome you to contact me at if you would like to discuss your concerns further. While we make every effort to be clear about our products the reality of the outback, while beautiful, is indeed rugged and remote with enduring red dirt and long distances between destinations however our offering is not intended to be a luxury experience, rather an authentic outback camping adventure. I can appreciate that the long days and busy itinerary can be tiring however as many of our passengers will experience this area once in their lifetime we make every effort to include as many attractions as reasonable fits in the time available. Experiencing sunrise and sunset is an iconic experience and while it does mean arriving and departing campsites in the dark passengers usually agree that it's worth it. I'm sorry to hear that you found the sleeping arrangements and vehicle uncomfortable; our linen, sleeping bags and mattresses are regularly cleaned, inspected for damage and replaced as necessary. Similarly our 4WD vehicles are purpose built for tackling the Top End and as such they won't offer the same facilities as a coach would, however they are regularly maintained and meet all requirements set by the local NT Government. Finally I can clarify that in addition to the Royal Flying Doctor service there are medical clinics located at Yulara and Kings Canyon Resort. Our guides are all first aid trained and carry satellite phones at all times should emergency medical attention be required. Once again thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, while it is always disappointing to hear that we have not met a passengers expectations your comments allow us to continually improve the quality of our products
