      Amazing morning on the water
AMAZING morning out with Joel & Cassie. Joel entertained us the right amount of whale information and eco facts. We saw lots of whales, and saw them breaching close to the boat. Would absolutely recommend!

      Whales, whales, whales!
What a great time we had whale watching on Saturday with the crew from Cooley Eco Tours. Great small tour on a fast and modern boat-we enjoyed cruising up the river then out to sea! So many whales we didn't know where to look-the boat was so flexible we could move quickly to follow multiple pods. Friendly and knowledgeable crew and great value for money. Thanks Cooley Eco for a great trip!! 😊👍

      Swim With Whales 11/06/2024
An absolutely amazing experience swimming with the whales - being up so close in the sea with them. To have the whales constantly breaching was just incredible they were happy displaying their skills spinning 360 degrees and exploding as high as they could out of the sea making the biggest slash they could for us. Thank you to the captain Lach, crew Cass and Georgia. Cheers Malcolm

Such an amazing experience! Georgie and Lachy were so great and Lachy had some really cool information about the whales! We saw some breach and lots of tail action. Such a great way to start the day!!

      Wonderful day out
Great experience with a fun and knowledgeable crew as well as an entertaining presentation of marine life. This is a wonderful way to explore sea life around the Tweed and the Gold Coast.

      Amazing turtle morning
We had the best morning swimming with the turtles. We where blessed with perfect weather conditions and loads of turtles. Joel, Julia and Mika looked after us so well. I would recommend this tour to anyone, they only take a maximum of 9 people out so snorkelling is very calm and you can take your time. The gear you are provided with is great and doesn’t feel like it’s been worn by 1000 people before you. On the way over to cook island we paused to let the dolphins come and say hello which was also amazing. If you are in two minds about booking a ‘swim with turtle’ tour I would say you can’t go wrong with these guys and book on. Thank you for a morning we will never forget

      Love the Turtles
Stunning experience. So peaceful under the water with many species of colourful fish to see, the movements of the underwater sea grass and the motions of the surf. The boat favourite was definitely the graceful turtles. Amazing, beautiful turtles in their natural habitat. Highly recommend the Cooly Eco team, Cass and Joel looked after all our needs and ensured everyone was comfortable in the water. We loved hearing the turtle stories, and importantly ways to keep marine life safe and our oceans thriving.

Wonderful local gem, just minutes away from Coolangatta & Tweed Heads.
Very professional tour conducted by two very competent, knowledgeable and friendly tourist operators who clearly have a passion for their business and the ecological area they share with guests. Nothing was too much trouble and they catered for a very diverse group from novices to the joy of snorkeling to experienced seasoned divers. I would highly recommend spending three hours with these guys.

      Great whale watching
I had a fantastic experience on this whale-watching trip! We saw many whales, although we couldn't swim with them as they stayed a bit far from the boat. The sea was quite rough, causing some seasickness, but the friendly team assisted us throughout. The captain shared insightful knowledge about the whales. I'd love to do it again on a day when the whales are closer and the ocean is calmer!

      Great Time Whale Watching
Had a lovely time whale watching. Friendly, helpful staff. I liked the smaller boat, less people = better views of whales. Was a great trip.

      A morning to remember!
Me and my partner did the snorkelling with turtles trip. The meeting point was easy to find, and given the small group, we were kitted up and on the boat swiftly. On the way to the turtle's spot, we were able to see pods of dolphins jumping through the water, which was really cool! It was my first experience snorkelling around turtles, and it's honestly one of the best experiences I've had in Australia. Not only were there lots of turtles, but there was an abundance of different fish and even a (sleeping) shark! We were able to snorkel for a good amount of time and, when getting back on the boat, was offered a collection of fruit, which was a nice extra :) On the way back, lachie (the skipper) spotted some humpback whales and made sure to stop and get closer so everyone could see and get pictures. Overall, a great morning and well worth it! Would definitely recommend it.

Best tour we have done backpacking aus! Definitely recommend :)
We had the most amazing morning swimming with turtles with Cass and Lachie. The communication was great from the start and the meeting point was easy to find. The wetsuits, snorkels and flippers were all provided and we even got anti fog to put in the snorkels! We were lucky to not only see turtles but also see dolphins and whales on our way out to the island which Lachie was very informative about. Sunscreen was also provided on the boat! The boat ride was very smooth and enjoyable. We saw turtles almost immediately upon getting into the water and had over an hour to swim with them. There was another girl in our group who was not a confident swimmer but Cass made sure that she was comfortable in the water, giving her a lifejacket and float to hold onto and staying close to her the whole time meaning that this girl did not miss out on any of the experience which was lovely. We also saw a wobbegong shark and lots of different types of fish. After the snorkelling we got back onto the boat and were given fresh fruit which we thought was the perfect extra touch. Overall I could not recommend this tour enough, a once in a lifetime experience to see the turtles up close and all our friends and family back home are very jealous!

      Great Day
Had a great day with Joel and Julia today on the water. We booked a whale swim. We did get a brief swim which I wish had been longer but at the end of the day you need to keep in mind that the whales are wild and it's up to them if they feel like playing ball. We had plenty above water encounters with the whales and the Cooly team did everything in their power to make it a great experience

      Life changing
This was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had in my life, coming face to face with majestic whales underwater was absolutely amazing. The tour was professional, informative and respectful to the whales, letting them come to us. Would highly recommend and would definitely do it again! 11/10

My 60th birthday present to myself!
I've holidayed in the area for decades and did not know what lived under the surface of Cook Island, just 700m from Fingal Heads. Coral, so many fish (lets find Nemo), eel, Wobbegong and yes turtles. I had the privilege on the trip to swim close and slow with a mature Green Turtle. And then there were the dolphins coming up to the inflatable craft as we headed back towards the river mouth.
I don't use the word AWESOME randomly but this trip really was.

We are so luckly to see a family of dolphins on the way of Cook Island. Also, I can swim along with a sea turtle and I can see a shark lying on the rock. So amazing. So many different kinds of colorful fishes near the seashore.
Due to the different time zone of Gold Coast and New South Wales, the meeting time is 8:00 a.m. of the meeting point is 7:00 a.m. of my place of hotel at Gold Coast. We are so luckly to arrive a little bite late and need to say sorry for the participants and hosts.
This is my first time to see sea turtles so close. I strongly recommend to join this tour because no any difficulties and the beginners will also enjoy this activity.😃

Hey Kelvin, Thank you for the wicked review! We are so glad that you had such an amazing experience with us and got to see a wide range of marine life! Yes we do run on NSW time making it a bit confusing for Queenslanders, but we thank you for your apology :) and we can’t wait to see you next time!

Great snorkelling with a friendly and professional team. Fantastic marine life, turtles, wobbegong, squid, loads of other fish, corals. Everything from the gear to the excellent boat and safety instructions was spot on and in no time we were out through the river and into the ocean. We had a group ranging in age from 9 to about 60 and everyone had a great adventure, even lucky enough to see a sizeable pod of dolphins. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended, thanks Lachey and Gwen

Had the most amazing morning with the Cooly Eco Adventures crew heading out to Cook Island. They provided all the equipment including wetsuits, fins and snorkelling gear, as well as offering us morning coffees whilst we got kitted up and had the safety briefing.

A short ride down the Tweed and along the coast and we arrived at Cook Island and we’re quickly in the water and exploring the coral shelf. The best thing about this trip is that you are allowed to explore and don’t have to stay in a big group. There were lots of turtles and beautiful fish, and we also found a good sized wobbigong and carpet shark (?)

We were in the for what felt like forever, and then once back on the boat were offered fresh fruit refreshments before heading back to dry land.

My second tour with the crew in the last year having joined them for a whale swim earlier in the year; both thoroughly recommended! I’ll look forward to jumping on board with the Cooly Eco team again super soon and will be advising all my visiting customers and locals alike to join them for an adventure as soon as possible!

Our family of 4 had a brilliant time today - Julia and Lachie were so friendly and helpful, especially with our young kids. They provided really helpful tips and info and shared lots of interesting info about the wildlife and the area. We saw dolphins surfing and it was amazing, they were so close, it was magical! The snorkelling with turtles off the island was amazing too. We are not experienced snorkellers but we still enjoyed it. Amazing fish everywhere you could see. And so many turtles! What a day. Thanks to Lachie and Julia for helping our kids who were quite unsure and for making it such an wonderful experience.

Great speedboat trip to snorkel with turtles and didn’t disappoint with one turtle swimming 2 feet away from me and dolphins 12 foot away from our boat. My family and I will def do this again (I had an 11 and 13 year old with us). Some on the boat got sick so be mindful of this and take some travacalm if you want to avoid that and bring a walm top for the return trip

We had a wonderful trip with Anthony and Lachy and were amazed at how many turtles we saw. The whole experience was easy to book (thanks Shelley) and was a great addition to our GC holiday. We can totally recommend this tourism business for the way it operates, it's approach to sustainability and the great time we had out on the water!

Such a great day! Cook/Turtle Island is a perfect little gem so close to home. The turtles were an impressive size and so chill. Cooly Eco Adventures always has the smoothest boat to ride and the most interesting marine facts. The crew was so friendly and helpful. It's also great to see a company raising awareness about caring for our environment.
Highly recommend these guys for an enjoyable day out.

Lachy and Dan are absolute legends. I loved every second of this trip, they explained a lot about the land & shared their knowledge on the local animals. On our way to the island they pointed out a pod of dolphins & then when we got to the island we saw the biggest turtles you could ever imagine. I loved every second of this trip & will definitely be doing it again. Thanks guys for such a mad day!!!

This tour was absolute ripper!!! We saw so many turtles, plus wobblegongs, and a huge variety of fish and coral. Oh, and dolphins on the boat out to the island! Our guides were knowledgeable, kind, and explained the safety and history of the area very well. The boat ride in and out had some great bumps and tummy drops which I thoroughly enjoyed. I would say that it's worth being a really good swimmer, as the ocean can be it's own beast at times and so having strong stamina and swimming legs will maximise your enjoyment of the 2 hour snorkel. Swimming face to face with turtles well in your arm reach is magical and an experience I won't ever forget. Thanks guys!!!
Ps. Get baked goods from Cubby across the St. They are some of the best baked goods hubby and I have had.
Pps. If you want a good fish burger after your snorkel, drive 5 mins down the road to Kingscliffe and get a grilled barramundi burger from the Salted Beardman. Delish.
