If you are wondering whether this trip is worth it - IT ABSOLUTELY IS!
We had initially planned to self drive out to Milford from Te Anau, but I'm so glad that we took this guided tour instead. Nigel knew all the best places to stop and it was so interesting to hear the history and gain some local insider knowledge. It was also great to have a stress free day, not having to worry about getting to the boat on time or about navigating the somewhat challenging road.
The scenery was absolutely magical. We had beautiful fine weather and it was just stunning. I hope to go back again one day to see it in the rain as well. Its a part of NZ like no other. The Tesla was the ultimate in comfort and style and the glass roof meant we could get the full experience of the towering cliffs.
This tour includes a cruise of Milford Sound with Cruise Milford, which I also highly recommend. The whole thing was really good value for money because we stayed at the Anchorage motel and they offer a special deal - I think it would actually have cost us more to drive ourselves!
All in all it was an amazing day and I can't recommend it highly enough.

A amazing it was. Milford on a wet day is also recommended as it takes on a totally different look. No two days are the same there and I also get amazed by the scenery and never take it for granted. Thanks for coming with us.

This was a highlight of our more than three (3) weeks in New Zealand! Please don’t miss this opportunity to have a private, professional, informative and top notch tour by Nigel Humphries.
My wife and I recently spent a wonderful day with Nigel on the Milford Sound Day Tour from Te Anau which includes a leisurely drive with quite a few stops through the Fiordland National Park (Te Wahipounamu), Lake Te Anau and a cruise (included in the cost) on the Milford Sound.
Nigel is a wealth of information on the entire area, very friendly and professional. A private tour like this is definitely the way to go. Other than needing to be on time for the cruise on Milford Sound, this tour provides the opportunity to relax and enjoy your day. It was a bit cold and rainy the day we were out and Nigel stopped along the way in the National Park and we enjoyed a freshly brewed cup of tea and coffee, using a Thermette kettle, in a very beautiful park area…let’s not forget the sweet treats!
Let me just say that Envy Experience’s Tesla Model X has a distinct advantage, with the very large windows which provide a clear view of the surrounding sights. It is very comfortable and getting in and out of it is simple and easy for anyone.
I have a lot of food sensitivities and Nigel ensured that our lunch (provided) for the Milford Sound cruise met all the requirements. It was very good!
The cruise on the sound was absolutely fantastic. We were on one of the Cruise Milford boats, a smaller one with plenty of room to get a great vantage point for seeing the beautiful sights of the sound. In addition, with a boat this size they can easily make a move to see an animal or other sight, which wouldn’t be possible with the bigger boats. Be sure to stand on the front of the boat when they take into the heavy mist of the waterfalls.
We very highly recommend Envy Experiences with Nigel Humphries! It will be a highlight of your time in New Zealand!

This tour is unique, wonderful and really affordable.
Why do a coach tour when you can be chauffer driven in a state of the art, super comfy Tesla driven and guided by Nigel Humphries from Te Anau to Milford Sound and back at the end of the cruise.
The drive to Milford was not just a drive, it was a tour in and of itself and it was expertly guided by Nigel. He was friendly, informative and professional. He showed us some simply draw dropingly beautiful sights all the way down to Milford.
We stopped at a number of the sights where we breathed in the majesty of the various lakes, waterfalls and mountains, wandered through tall trees with the dappled light effect cast on the ground below, laughed at the tree with the curious feature of a face on its trunk, and generally just marveled at everything.
For a small extra fee a substantial lunch is provided. We took this option and Nigel picked a very beautiful and dramatic backdrop for our lunch spot over a tree filled valley with mountains right in your face.
Having been wowed all the way to Milford, we were further wowed by the cruise up Milford Sound. Everyone talks about the beauty of Milford Sound, its not exaggerated. Magnificent, awe inspiring, breath takingly beautiful, all appropriate descriptions.
Because Fiordland is having a wee dry spell, there weren't many of the usual thousand plus waterfalls running but there were some. Two in particular are a focal point, the boat goes right up and into the falls and the glory of being doused by the crystal clear and deliciously cold water is exhilarating!!! The dousing is a choice, plenty of non-douse space available.
Another joy was the pod of dolphins which decided to have some fun with the boat, racing it, jumping out of the water along side it and generally having as much fun as we did watching them.
When the cruise was over, Nigel was waiting with the sage comment that we would be asleep in a short time so no stops on the way back to Te Anau. He was right, we were both snoring in a very short time, tired from the sun, clear air and all the beauty of the day.
We cant recommend this trip highly enough.

Had the most amazing day with Nigel and Lola the Tesla! We absolutely loved our trip to the Milford Sounds. We thought the Milford Cruise would be the highlight but it turned out to be the journey/road stops to and from the Sounds. Communication from the beginning was very precise and efficient and pick up was right on time. Riding privately in the Tesla was definitely a highlight in comparison to doing a bus tour with others. The ride was so comfortable, very awesome and safe driving and you get to really explore the area and know all the background history and information from a true local. Nigel made a huge effort to ensure we had the best day! We enjoyed all the commentary, the stops to places and perfect picture spots we would never have seen if we drove ourselves or took a public tour, and the comfort stops needed along the way. I can’t say enough about how amazing and how worth it this tour was and we have no regrets booking Envy Experiences tour. We will definitely let everyone know about exceptional service and the funnest day you could ask for. If you’re thinking of booking this trip, not only will you be supporting a local family run business but you’re guaranteed to have the best day! Thank you Nigel

My wife & I booked this private tour as we wanted to support a local business & do a tour with a point of difference.
We both had an great day out & thoroughly recommend this tour as Nigel was a great friendly local host who was able to tell us a lot about the area.
The car ride in Nigel's Tesla was a very comfortable ride.
This tour has many great photo stops on the way to Milford Sound.
The tour also includes a boat cruise on the Milford Sound with Cruise Milford.
We have great memories of this enjoyable trip as it was one of the highlights of our holiday.

I never thought I’d be able to do a private tour of Milford Sound, I thought it would be a crowded nosy bus for us. But when I discovered Envy Tours and how affordable it was, I jumped at the chance. It truely was a dream come true.
My 8 year old daughter was beyond excited that we were going to be travelling around in Batman’s car (a Tesla) but I was more excited about the heated seats and sky roof so I could see all angles of this majestic part of the world.
The day we went was a cold rainy day but I actually think it was exactly what made it even more memorable. The drive to Milford Sound was breathtaking. Nigel (the best tour guide with so much local knowledge) stopped at places only locals would know about. One stop in particular- I literally felt the 7 year old little girl in me came out as I walked through the Enchanted Forest! My daughter and I were looking for fairies and pixies. It is definitely where the Tooth-fairy lives.
Nigel got the portable fire going at one stop to make us morning tea of hot chocolate, hot fresh coffee and delicious cakes/pastries. Both my daughter and I have food allergies/coeliac but this wasn’t an issue for Nigel as he catered to this which was fabulous (as I hadn’t eaten anything so delicious for a while)
When we arrived at Milford Sound, we boarded our 2 hours boat tour which was next level. Despite the rain, this place is certainly not to be missed. The water falls were in full flow and the mist was spectacular. We even had a pool of dolphins hang out and play by our boat for a while. It was fabulous. When the boat goes right up to one of the waterfalls, it’s a great chance to get outside and stand under it. So much fun but bring your rain coat/wet weather gear even if it’s not a rainy day.
The drive back to Te Anau was so relaxing and cosy with the heated seats and blankets. My daughter was asleep within minutes and I continued to enjoy the landscape which looked different from the drive in as the weather which changed what we saw. I was totally in my element.
Overall, this was my absolute highlight of our time in the South Island. Being able to travel in a Covid safe, private car with impeccable comfort not to mention the knowledge Nigel shares with you along the way, was truely a bucket list ticker! Envy Tours gets a 10 out of 10 from me and my daughter! Don’t even question whether you should do this tour or not, just go for it! Thanks Nigel, you made amazing memories for me and my baby girl! Thank you. 🙏

Fantastic day. Would recommend to anybody— especially people like myself who usually balk at the idea of tours! Getting around in a Tesla really is an experience and a must for anyone that has an affinity for technology!
Nigel is a true gent—friendly, funny and knowledgeable. He also pointed out many day tramps along the way to Milford that—even as an avid kiwi tramper— I’d never heard of. Already planning our next sojourn to Fiordland so we can take these in.
Many thanks, Nigel

Many thanks for coming with us. It was great to be able to share some of our local knowledge and point out options for your future visits to Fiordland. We live in a special place and you got to see Milford Sound as it will never be again. You almost had it to yourself.

All the previoys reviews posted are 100% correct in what is delivered by Nigel.
It was a wonderful day with many points of interest pointed out and with his local knowledge you receive an in depth commentary on the area.
If you want to support a local this is one attraction you must do.
The boat cruise is with Cruise Milford which is a local owned and operated venture and provides a 5 star experience also.
Would reccommend this trip to anyone. Many thanks Nigel for a wonderful day, one we will not forget.

Great experience. Higly recommended. From the very first moment you feel like a VIP. The guide gives you a special attention, telles itnteresting stories about the region stops by sight seeing atractions.
The coffie break is very special.
You will be guided to the boat and be ensured of the best places for the cruise.
Compering to other tour operators, you definitely get the best price - quality experience.
Mike, thank you for a wonderful day on the 14th February.

What a great day! From the moment our 10 year old's mouth dropped when he realised we were going in a Tesla, to stopping fellow travellers in their tracks when the doors went up, this was the best way to go to Milford Sound. Nigel is a fabulous and chilled host who loves showing off his backyard and taking you to secret spots and telling great stories. And then there's the views... Highly recommended if you want to have the perfect trip to Milford Sound,
