Fun is Good. This was Better.
Beautiful landscapes, pristine waterways, lush forests. Punctuated by a group of tourists screaming down the river in a high-speed jet boat! So good! If I squint my eyes I can see the fellowship in their boats!

      Unreal!!
UNREAL!!!! One jet boat to rule them all! We were greeted with a friendly and professional team. The “Coach Captain” Abbey was fun and friendly, she bussed us to the river where we met charismatic Chris our skipper .Lots of LOTR scenes, excellent vistas, entertaining commentary, so many spins, and enjoyed a wee walk in the Kepler. What a treat for my eyeballs! Fiordland Jet was amazing! Would 100% do this experience again.

100% MUST DO! Fun is good
11 out of 10! Fiordland Jet delivered an unforgettable experience! Having been on other jet boat rides in New Zealand, I can confidently say this was the absolute best. Skipper Chris was a true highlight; entertaining, light-hearted, and full of energy, he kept us laughing while showing off his incredible skills on the water. The 360 spins were nothing short of exhilarating! A big shoutout to Abbie, our bus driver, who was exceptional from start to finish; warm, friendly, and super organised. Abbie runs a tight ship. The entire team made the experience seamless and memorable.

      What an adventure
The trip started with booking a few seats for the family on FJ’s website. When we arrived the staff was enthusiastic and there was friendly banter all around. Got the sunscreen and PPE sorted and off we went. Our bus driver, the 'English lady', was a total rockstar – she looked like she was having the time of her life, which, let's be real, is the key to eternal youth. Once one the jetboat, our captain Shawn/Sean/Shaun welcomed us aboard and proceeded to regale us with an encyclopedic knowledge of the river and its surroundings. He was like a human Wikipedia, but with better jokes. The journey itself was a thrill ride, The journey down the river was adventurous, from doing 360’s (the hamilton turn), to dead silence and just listening to the natural sound the river and surroundings make if we were not there. Our 5 year old daughter has the biggest smiles on her face, if it wasn’t for her ears it would have gone right around. Kudos to the team for an unforgettable experience – we'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun day out

      Amazing!
One of the best adventures we've ever done. This is such an amazing and fun trip and well worth your time including (as we did, driving down from Queenstown). I could tell you about the scenery, the history, the fantastic team. I could tell you about the jaw dropping moment you leave the river and see the lake. I could tell you about the (easy) walk through the forest. Or how pure the lake water is. Or you could do it yourself. If you're in the region, make this trip a must-do. Chris and team - thank you. Five stars does not do this - or you - justice.

A great day on the water!
Chris and Lucy were fantastic guides and made our experience all the more enjoyable. From the initial welcome and chat prior to booking through to the jetboat along the water with 360 degrees spins and also the stories and anecdotes, we truly loved it. Highly recommended and great value for money.

Nervous? You will be well taken care of
I was nervous beforehand but was reassured by the owner of the company that I would be safe and that I would come away from the experience loving it. He was not wrong! He asked the driver to look after me and I was sat beside him in the boat. He did some gentle turns to give me an idea of what the drift would feel like. By the second 360 turn, I was grinning from ear to ear. If you are feeling a bit nervous beforehand, I highly recommend Fiordland Jet. You will be well taken care of and will come away wanting to repeat the experience. A++++

      Once in a lifetime experience.
We had a truly amazing experience with the Fiordland Jet crew during our visit to Lake Te Anau on Dec 31, 2024. The entire team at Fiordland Jet was amazing from the owner Chris (really cool fella) to Lucy and the boat captain Sean (another cool fella). Sean was very kind and took us and a few other families on an amazing boat trip on the Waiau River to Lake Manapouri including a short bush walk. I strongly recommend anyone visiting the South Island and in particular Queenstown or Lake Te Anau to get this experience with Fiordland Jet. You will never forget it including those crazy spins that are a treat :). Thank you Chris and the FJ team for the experience of a lifetime.

So peaceful with a shot of adrenaline
Fantastic trip, great commentary from Chris on the boat and Abby on the short bus trip to the launch area., and explanation of the experience from Amy when we stopped by the ticket office. Enjoyed hearing about the Lord of the Rings locations and local history. Scenery was so amazing and getting to spend 2 hours out there was wonderful. And the spins were fun.

      The best jet ride!!
Absolutely the greatest view of the beautiful New Zealand waterways, Fiords, and mountains. Our driver, Chris, was most entertaining. Our grand teens had a great experience. You must do this for many reasons especially for Lord of the Rings fans.

Chris the owner is a charming guy and so are all his staff. They really care for and look after you – if it’s sun cream, enough clothes, beanies (hats for your head), glasses, blankets if your cold, storing excess luggage for you, they seem to have it all covered. We were bused down from Te Anau to their riverside site and kitted out with spray jackets and life jackets. Another Chris (an Aussie not a Kiwi) was an excellent driver, raconteur and guide, providing interesting and informative facts and anecdotes along the way. We had a great run down the River Waiau to Shallow Bay which is part of Lake Manapouri. The scenery was staggering! Whilst at Shallow Bay we went ashore at a National Park refuge hut and had a look around the area which was interesting. Then it was back up river to their river side base with multiple 360 Deg spins on route. Back at their river site, we collected our electric bikes and headed off on the 10 mile (didn’t seem this far?) route back to Te Anau. It was really pleasant and we were able to take our time and stop where we wished. Fiordland Jet Boats were really busy and I can understand why as it was a very good tour and you’ll need to book in advance if you want to join them which I recommend that you do! Thanks Chris and team for a great morning.

Our adult family of 4 had a truely fantastic time from arriving at the office and getting kitted out with our warm jackets for the boat and E-bikes for the just over 10 kilometre ride back. I highly recommend, the e-bikes, thanks to these, even my overweight, unfit self managed over 10 kilometres cycling the incredibly well maintained cycle tracks around the lake.

Chris/owner/joker/really friendly guy and his team are amazing. Our extremely experienced driver Lex who knows these rivers like no one else, took us on an incredible tour with views like no other, including 3 Lord of the Rings sites, bonus for those who were interested.

We even had a lovely picnic packed lunch provided. Definitely do this one you wont be disappointed.

**Recommend: the e-bikes, unless you are very fit. Lots of sunscreen, even on a cloudy day, a water bottle and a cap to wear under your bike helmet.

Oh, you mean Chris the opinionated, loud-mouthed farmer?! Haha, just kidding - I don't know what we are paying him but it's definitely not enough :) Thank you so much for this review and especially your advise on the e-bikes - it is a perfect option for anyone wanting a little extra help! Cheers!

This jet boat company is run by local Kiwis who were kind and accommodating. I questioned whether my hubby could do this excursion due to his vertigo. After speaking to Chris, one of the owners, he assured us that he would instruct his boat driver to watch out for him. Ever step of the way, we were treated with care. From offering extra sunblock to an extra jacket, we were provided with a water proof coat and life jackets. Another Chris was our boat driver and he was a pro. The entire time on the water was thrilling. We stopped for a quick hike in the Fiordland and then it was back to the boat. Even the thrilling donuts that Chris managed to do, did not cause any discomfort or trigger the vertigo. They had the bikes and helmets read for us after the boat ride. If you are a semi strong, you should be able to do the 10 mile ride back to the start. The trail is 90% gravel. There were a couple of steep hills but nothing that was not manageable. If you are questionable, spend the extra $ and get an electric bike. We took our time and w enjoyed the scenery all the way back. We were pretty tired and beautiful Abby treated us with a drink coupon for the restaurant next door. Lemonade never tasted so good. Thanks for a great adventure!

Thank you Jenn! We are lucky enough to be able to cater to any sort of condition and it is great to hear that no discomfort was caused during the 360 spins we do! Both Big Chris and Little Chris are assets to the Fiordland Jet team and we couldn't be any more thankful to be working with them! Our bike back option really is the cherry on top isn't it, such a nice way to end the trip in the national park! Hopefully one day you can come join us again! Cheers - Nicole and the FJet Team

All staff involved in this business were very friendly and professional and we had a great experience, with the jet boat ride you experienced both fast spins and all scenery on offer along the Waiau River out into Lake Manapouri with a knowledgeable awesome driver, then a stunning bike ride back into town along side the river on a sharing walk/bike track… Highly recommend this trip. All the best Chris and team for the year ahead.Regards the Northlanders🤙🤙

It was the best jet boat ever (Moses 9yrs). For the rest us this was a true kiwi experience, a family experience for both us and the hosts- the host Chris was enthusiastic and generous and made a concerted effort regarding our security and comfort. John the boat driver was informative with a great sense of humour and made an effort to give the thrill seekers what they wanted but keeping us incredibly safe at the same time. The bike ride back to town capped off the whole experience riding along side the river under the shady trees. This oldie (69 yrs) who seldom rides a bike had great fun on the electric bike. A small company with great heart. Well done Fiordland Jets

This activity is an absolute highlight and a must when in Te Anau. Adrienne and Chris are super friendly and made the whole trip so much fun. We were the only booking for the day and had a real treat of stopping wherever we wanted, having a yarn in the river and on Lake Manapouri. It also helped that we had a fantastic winter day - sunny and calm.
The boat trip was great - a few thrills and spins and then an e-bike ride back to Te Anau. Excellent! (And lunch was good too)

A fantastic trip. John and Abby went above and beyond- delaying the morning trip to give clouds a chance to depart and to give us time to cycle up to meet the boat. Very accommodating, generous and wonderfully outgoing people. A perfect way to begin a holiday in Te Anau. The jetboat ride was a great combo of thrills (no spills),some fun local and lortr trivia and jaw dropping scenery. Would highly recommend, especially to visit lake Manapouri, which is stunning from the water! Thanks so much guys for a great and memorable day!

Clear blue sky. 25°. We did the bike and jet combo. Adrienne in the office sorted us out with bikes – bubbling with enthusiasm, honest and encouraging. We rode from Te Anau town to Waiau river boat ramp on Lake to Lake trail. Chris was our boat driver. The quintessential southern man. Handled a boatload of Kiwis holidaymakers (no foreign tourists – this is Covid) superbly. A consummate professional. Manapouri scenery stunning. Great value for money. Would definitely repeat. A must do while you are in Te Anau.

A great afternoon out! Lex took us out on the boat down the river to Lake Manapouri, stopping along the way to tell us some of the history of the area and show us Lotr filming locations. While it was still in the colder months, we were not cold as warm clothing was provided. After the boat we cycles back to Te Anau along the lake 2 lake track. Worth it!

Superb jet boat trip In awesome scenery. As Lord of the Rings fans, it was great to spot various locations used in the film.
We were impressed by how long we got on the water, and getting to keep the bikes for the rest of the day was great value. Nice touch to shout us a drink at the Moose Bar next door at the end.
Felt well looked after from start to finish by excellent , friendly staff. Good safety equipment and briefing. Nico our skipper was brilliant and the jet boating was really fun, but we also loved the little bush walk he gave us. He was so knowledgeable and we learned heaps.
Abi who sorted out our bikes ( good bikes, well maintained) gave us great advice about the extra bit of the trail we fancied doing. She was absolutely spot on.
We loved our experience so thank you Lindy for persuading us! We’ve done a few NZ jet boat trips before and have to say this is right up there and is most probably our FAVOURITE!! Highly recommend it - fantastic!
