About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Gillian M0 contributionsUnforgettable experienceAbsolutely excellent experience. Cannot recommend highly enough. We were so well looked after there was not a moment we didn’t enjoy. The opportunity to sail on a historic boat and then have a short guided explore in the beautiful Fiordland National Park was unforgettable. The tour was well beyond our expectations and the hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. Loved it and will recommend to friends.Written 9 October 2024
- fionamsh0 contributionsMagical afternoon. We so much enjoyed our Lake Te Anau trip on this beautiful motor yacht. Adam and Megan were wonderful hosts. The weather was kind to us , the lake calm, and the wine and canapés much enjoyed. Megan guided us on a short bush walk and was so knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. Adam put the icing on the cake with a medley of tunes on the bagpipes. Highly recommend!Written 16 May 2024
- Passport034081342790 contributionsFabulous lake cruise with great crew.Magical afternoon on lake Te Anau. Adam and Jackie were wonderful hosts who shared their knowledge of the boat and the environment with genuine passion. They were so friendly and made the trip a delight. It was the highlight of a great week on the South Island. Highly recommend this experience and we look forward to coming back for an overnight stay. Thank you!Written 9 April 2024
- h00ps480 contributionsCruising in the old lady of the lakePaul and Jackie were great hosts as we cruised the lake in a 1935 special. So much better then the very commercial alternative trip we could have taken. They were knowledgeable yet flexible to our circumstances and in full sail the boat was a lot of fun. We had access to the whole boat and permission to get right involved if we wanted to. Also Great views of the closer Alps as we turn up an arm of the lake you don’t see from town sideWritten 9 April 2024
- jimkN6085DL0 contributionsA highlight of our New Zealand tripWonderful cruise. Adam is a great captain - answering all your questions. The nature hike through the forest with Jackie was wonderful. She is incredibly knowledgeable on New Zealand plant life.Written 22 March 2024
- BadBoyBill0 contributionsBeautiful boat and Adam is a fine guy. While our cruise did not work out due to poor weather, Adam was quite the gracious host all the same. He gave us a nice tour of his beautiful boat and took care of canceling the booking on his end. He even offered some suggestions of alternate things to do in town.Written 12 March 2024
- 15kirstw0 contributionsTranquillity in Fiordland! We really enjoyed a peaceful afternoon, where we basked in the sun and offered refreshments. The host and captain were really lovely and made us feel so relaxed. The boat is beautiful. The hosts had some really interesting things to say on the nature of the bush and the history of the boat. A lovely time- thank you!Written 29 February 2024
- Graham M0 contributionsA memorable experience, should be higher in TA listingsMilford Sound and the glow worm caves are where most tourists go, but to get away from the crowds, to relax and be looked after while enjoying Lake Te Anau and its scenery, you can’t beat this cruise. Adam and his assistant are charming and courteous. Nothing is too much trouble. The restored wooden boat is magnificent. We enjoyed a cruise, a nature walk, canapés and drinks followed by a few minutes under sail. Everyone who has sailed so far has given five stars. Why is it not top of the activity list on TA?Written 28 February 2024
- 987kathrynk0 contributionsA must do if in Te AnauWhat an amazing trip. One of the best we have done. Adam and Megan are friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable. This is a 11/10 trip that exceeded our expectations. The boat is stunning, the morning tea was impressive and catered for those with specific dietary needs. It's a small group tour which meant you didn't feel like another number. The walk to the hidden lakes was a lovely and easy walk so you don't need any specific walking gear apart from decent sneakers as it can be muddy under foot. If you can check the weather before booking an afternoon breeze is good as they put up the sails to sail back to the dock. Unfortunately, we had no wind so despite putting up the sails we had to motor back. Still, that did not detract from the overall experience. For those interested in a Celtic experience, if Adam is your captain, he will bring out his bagpipes to top off the trip.Written 24 February 2024
- GillianM51550 contributionsA brilliant way to pass a few hours on the water. This was our second trip on ‘Faith’ having previously cruised 5 yrs ago with George and Adam. Yesterday we were welcomed aboard again by Adam but this time there was a new shipmate - Paul, who, incidentally hailed from Portsmouth a fine naval port in the UK. Once again we had a wonderful time learning about the history of ‘Faith’ and how she ended up in NZ after starting life in Scotland. We had a relaxing walk on an island where Paul was a mine of information on the flora and fauna. I can’t recommend this trip highly enough, we had wine and snacks throughout which loosened lots of tongues during the trip which meant nearly everyone conversed with each other. It was brilliant. Sadly Adam didn’t remember us from the last trip but as it was 5 years ago we forgave him 😂Written 22 February 2024
- P1729LOrobertb0 contributionsLake Cruise ExtraordinaireForget the highly promoted stuff, this reasonable adventure is designed for small groups, those who love peace and quiet, and enjoy the elegance of the Gatsby era. Come on, being served champagne and canapes on board a vessel in a stunningly gorgeous setting doesn't light you up you must be the ultimate scrooge. To top it off, skipper Adam and crew will take you to a gorgeous island for a marvelous nature walk. What a treat!Written 11 February 2024
- F6269SGpaulinek0 contributionsA Perfect AfternoonA sunny day, a stunning lake, a beautifully restored old yacht, helpful and interested staff, tasty canapes, a walk in an ancient beech forest - what more could you need for a perfect afternoon? Thank you Adam, Megan and Rebecca.Written 17 January 2024
- Tanderra0 contributionsBeyond tranquilThe weather was perfect as we cast off from Te Anau and headed across the lake. We had a very warm welcome from Adam, Megan and Rebecca. We learnt the boat’s history and were told we could have an explore, but I opted to stay up top and enjoy the scenery and sunshine. They fed us some lovely canapes. On the other side of the lake we tied up and went for a wander through an extraordinary beech forest to a hidden gem of a small lake. On the return journey the crew hoisted the sails. Our fellow passengers made for interesting company – people from Germany, South Africa and the USA. I can really recommend this adventure.Written 16 January 2024
- yomamau0 contributionsKeep Faith floating; go for an extraordinairy lake cruise and a beautiful walk to a hidden lake!A most enjoyable, interesting and fascinating sail trip. Thank you very much for excellent service & hospitality!!!!Written 9 January 2024
- Keith0630 contributionsA must during a Te Anau visitAdam and Megan took us on cruise across the lake and docked at a jetty on a remote and uninhabited shore for a short nature walk through the forest to a hidden lake. On our return we were treated to canapes and drinks on board. This was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The boat itself dates from the 1930's and has a captivating history that Adam tells with great engagement - the boat is clearly now his hobby and he has carried out much major work on the boat himself. Adam and Megan are lovely and knowledgeable hosts who made us feel very special.Written 7 December 2023

This was an unexpected highlight of our visit to Te Anau.
This simple cruise across Lake Te Anau aboard Faith was made wonderful by our crew, Adam and George. They were welcoming, enthusiastic, friendly, fun and so knowledgeable about the boats history.. it was delightful. The canapés and wine was so special aboard the ship. Other surprises along the way..which I won’t spoil for you...DO IT! It’s an absolute must

This cruise was a highlight of our New Zealand trip! You cannot find a more dedicated and delightful crew than Adam, our captain, and Nina. In addition to the champagne/wine and canapes we learned the history of the 1935 boat, helped to hoist and then furl the sales, learned about the engine room while one in our group steered the ship, and generally had a beautiful cruise and then sail across the lake. I would highly recommend this outing and hope to bring more friends to sail if I am in Te Anau again in the future.

A totally unique and enjoyable activity in Te Anau. George and Adam were fantastic hosts. We enjoyed watching the sun set with some bubble and tasty Canapés. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the history of this special vessel too and appreciated all the small touches and attention to detail. Highly recommend this trip. Great for couples or a larger group.

Hi!!
Thanks heaps for taking a moment to write so thoughtfully. We do tend to be fussy with our small details, so we’re very happy to hear that they’re well received :-) I think the elegance of the 30’s encourages this is a very undemanding way, and we’re proud to be able to continue the tradition of classy elegant living.
So glad to hear you had a lovely trip with us. Thank you very much for your support, it means the world to us while we’re working hard to survive during the global challenges we’re facing. We’re getting along, and being very creative to do so, but without our passengers we’d be in a very different spot. So, thank you again!!
Wishing you all the very best,
Adam, George, and the team from Faith in Fiordland :-)

Unique, personal and wonderful family fun! We arrived in Te Anau late afternoon and scrambled to find a boat trip for our family of six. We will be forever grateful that we found spots on Faith - an incredible highlight of our South Island trip. We loved the small size, the delicious food, the cold drinks, the fascinating history, the surprise bagpipes and the majestic beauty of Lake Te Anau. What made this trip extra special was the staff - Adam and Paul made our kids feel welcomed and even included. It was all hands on deck on the ropes and behind the wheel! The kids loved it so much they chose to use their pocket money on Faith t-shirts and hoodies. No bigger compliment! Thank you, Adam and Paul (and those behind the scenes), for an unforgettable experience!

This is a beautiful trip on a graceful older lady. With the sun going down while we sipped a cool glass and nibbled on canapés. The gluten free option was delicious.
The crew are friendly and engaging with lots of history of the boat and area.
We loved the opportunity to soak up some silence in a sheltered bay, and making our way across the water. And of course exploring the interior, helping raise the sails and even checking out the engine.

A truly magical trip. Adam and Megan were extraordinary hosts, both incredibly knowledgeable. Loved hearing about the history of Faith and how she made her way from Scotland all the way to Lake Te Anau. The scenery is simply breathtaking and the nature walk was fascinating. Fizz and food delicious too. This is a MUST do trip….and when you go, make sure you ask Adam to play his bagpipes! Just brilliant all round! Thank you

Hey!!
We have to look after you, bubbles are a great addition to cruising around the National Park :-)
Really enjoyed having you both onboard, thanks heaps for your support, and choosing to come along. 7 is a perfect sized ground for still feeling like you have the whole boat to yourself isn't it?!! While we limit cruises at 16, there is still heaps of room to explore, or sit in the peace and quiet and enjoy time to yourselves.
Really appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts, and what you liked, very thoughtful of you.
Wishing you the best for your future adventures!!

This cruise experience is the best you will ever do! The hosts, George and Adam are delightful, their passion for the local scenery and history was amazing. They were more than happy to take us out, even though there were only the 2 of us and their hospitality perfect. The bubbles and canapés were delicious and I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. A definite must do in New Zealand.
