This was a fantastic full day tour exploring various filming locations from the LOTR trilogy. Francesco, our guide, was fantastic and very knowledgeable. He's a true fan and his enthusiasm was contagious. The highlight was definitely the field outside Fanghorn forest and then spots on Mavora itself. Would highly recommend any of their tours for fans of the movies and books.

The morning part of the tour was amazing Annie was wonderful I highly recommend the morning.the after noon was just okay the sites weren't as good.

Such a fun tour! Annie was very enthusiastic and informative. There is an amazing amount of props, and pictures/scripts to go along with the locations!

My wife and I took part in the full day tour with the Morning half being guided by Ian from Trails of Middle Earth. We were lucky enough to have a small group of 3, meaning I could pepper Ian with a bunch more nerdy questions than I might have been able to in a larger group. Luckily for us, Ian was clearly as big of a Lotr geek as we were and had substantial knowledge of the area, the films and the books and displayed this with passion. He was well spoken and more the happy to answer any questions we had. 5/5

If you want a LotR tour away from the hustle and bustle of the other sites surrounding Queenstown, this is the one for you! It does take longer to get down to the locations, but the areas visited are stunning, and a lot of historical facts about the region were shared. Shane also guided us exactly to where we needed to go, in contrast to another couple who were self-guiding on the same day and ended up at a few wrong spots. Lots of fun on the trip, and as with all tours from this company, lots of props to look at and handle. This is one tour I wouldn't mind doing again in a different season, or even revisit some sites to camp at.

I had a blast on this tour. Ian for the morning half, and Dan for the afternoon. It was slightly overcast in the morning of the day I went, but the cloud cover cleared up as the day went on, which meant a lot of great photo opportunities. Both guides were really knowledgeable about LotR, as well as the ecology and wildlife in the area. A big collection of props were available for photography, which makes it stand out even more from the other tours in the area. Even if you aren't a LotR fan, the tour does take you around the region and visit various photogenic sights without having to do the research and drive yourself (and risk breaking down!). Some of the facts/trivia were the same between both sessions, but there only is so much LotR lore for people to talk about. The best part was hearing each guide's personal take on the lore.

This was the best tour of the entire trip! If you like Lord of the Rings, you can't miss this tour. Ian, our guide, was the best! He knew exactly what to say to make sure everyone enjoyed the tour, he told the best fun facts possible and had a way of relating everyone's experiences to what he was saying, which was amazing. It was a day I will definitely never forget!

Fabulous fun, amazing locations ! Our guide Ian made the day, infectious enthusiasm, wealth of knowledge, had us all gel together in joint fun in no time. Great at explaining scenes filmed once on location, lots of fun facts, scripts, official props, cosplay. Absolutely recommend this tour to LOTR fans.

Absolutely awesome! Ian took us to many sweeping views and filming locations… he had all kinds of photos and cast/filming details that he shared at every site, including how scenes were combined to create the views within Middle Earth. There were props for us to try out as well ecological details. Super knowledgeable about LOTR and about the area. Definitely would want Ian again and this tour. Book it! You won’t regret it!

I had a great time on this tour! I am a big fan and I still learned a lot thanks to our guide, Francesco. He made everyone feel comfortable right from the beginning. I was excited about the locations, but didn't expect to have as much fun as I did with the licensed props and costumes — the props look and feel very real, it's like you're holding the real weapons from the movies — what a nice bonus! No complaints at all. It was a lovely day around fellow LOTR nerds.

Not only was this a tour of gorgeous sites around Queenstown, including the historic Arrowtown Chinese village and cute pioneer old town, but this was a true insider’s Lord of the Rings location tour with true behind the scenes stories. Our tour guide Ian shared in-depth knowledge about what the cast and crew (and town) experienced during the secret filming of the movie. Plus, for all the fans, there was dress-up and picture time with registered replicas of the beautiful craft props and costumes. It was great fun and fascinating. Thank you, Ian!
