      Awesome guide, super informative
We signed up for the heli tour and glacier hike - the reason for the four star rating is because we were unable to fly that day because of the weather, which was not our tour guide's fault. Our tour guide was absolutely awesome, knowledgeable, polite, funny, a real eco warrior and super interesting guide. His name was Cameron, and we met two of the other guides as well just crossing paths and they were also excellent helping us navigate what to do without the flight and hike (we did another bike that was outstanding). Totally dug Cameron and hope you connects when he comes to the States (Cam the email is cpetersen1115@gmail.com when you make it to New Orleans. The area is absolutely beautiful and totally worth the trip down from Queenstown. Again I cannot say enough good things about our guide he was really cool and made a bad trip good.

Great tour - well worth it!
Had a great tour of Milford Sound - well organised, friendly and experienced guide, and smooth, unrushed journey that allowed us to appreciate the beauty and tranquillity of the area. Would definitely recommend taking the option to fly back to Queenstown - the views were spectacular and the short duration of the flight was appreciated.

      Breathtaking, Seamless, Memorable
We had an incredible time exploring Mt. Cook. Georgia, our trip guide, was consistently helpful and full of valuable insights. Traveling by van was smooth sailing, with Georgia's driving skills leaving us with no concerns. The scenery along the drive was absolutely stunning, and the helicopter ride to the mountain's peak took our breath away. This trip is undoubtedly worth every moment.

      Incredible day of scenery
Excellent day from start to finish curated by the amazing Avi. Avi, our guide for the day, greeted us with enthusiasm and clearly explained the layout of our day. The trip to Milford Sound was smooth with so many great photo op stops along the way. Milford Sound itself was breathtaking!! Even the sandwich lunch was better than most I have experienced. Don’t miss this one, and request Avi!!

      Well worth it!
We had a great time on the tour - even though we had a car rental throughout our time in Queenstown, choosing this tour couldn't have been a better choice considering that we got to sit back, relax while we drove down from Queenstown to Milford with guided commentary about NZ. For the cost, it was well worth it for us with lunch, the drive and cruise all booked in together. Our guide was super fun and we really had a great time!

      Epic!
Jeff was terrific! great vibes, very informative, punctual and attentive. He literally played the epic "Con te partirò" when we were leaving the Milford Sound, and said it was a way to salute this stunning place. Got me so emotional 😭 Thanks for some great memories 💛✨

Booked this one-way transfer in August for a November trip. In Oct they messaged me up to say the tour bus was full and they couldn't accommodate me on the date I had confirmed with them.

Yes, I had already confirmed with them in August and presumed that meant my seat was booked, making hotel and flight reservations around that. So, with quite short notice I'm now scrounging last minute to find my way to CHC so I can finish my trip and fly out of the country on time.

If nothing else, I want others to know this happened so they can consider it when they are planning this trip as a means of transport. If you are depending on it, which I was, they may leave you high and dry.

Hi John, Thank you for booking with Cheeky Kiwi. I am so sorry to hear about this experience. I see you initially booked our tour on the 22nd, which we had confirmed. You then changed your booking to the 21st. Viator confirmed this change with you without checking with us first. Had they have done so we could have let them know that the 21st was already sold out. I understand this explanation doesn't help resolve things for you but hopefully you can see that this was NOT an error by Cheeky Kiwi travel, but with viator. I am glad you were able to make other plans to get to Christchurch. I wish you all the best for the remainder of your holiday. Kind regards, Rhys Utting

Mount Cook was the most stunning hike, in a country filled with stunning hikes. This was a great way for us to get from Queenstown to Christchurch with some gorgeous stops on the journey. I wish we had about a half hour more at Mt. Cook, as the hike was a little more rushed (not that we couldn't see what we wanted, but that I had to walk at a pretty brisk pace to ensure we were able to hike to the end and back in time) than I would have liked. Both tour guides (Jonathan from Queenstown to Mt. Cook and I can't remember the name of the woman who drove us to Christchurch) were terrific and gave us all sorts of interesting info as we drove. The transfer from the Queenstown bus to the Christchurch bus was seamless.

How lucky we were to have Hugo as our
guide on the two-day journey from Queenstown to Christchurch. Hugo is knowledgeable, kind and has great sense of humor. He adjusted the itinerary to meet our needs. It was obvious that he is very proud of this beautiful country. Hugo's enthusiasm was contagious. What a memorable two days.

This tour is a great time saver since you cover a lot of great spots in one day, while also getting from Christchurch to Queenstown. But the flipside is you will have limited time to enjoy all the spots properly. Also two hours were a little rushed for the Hooker Valley hike. Having said that, the guides Brent and Sinchan were very knowledgeable and managed the long stretches quite well with great commentary and perfectly timed breaks. The vans are comfortable too.

This is a great way to transfer between Christchurch and Queenstown. Several little stops on the way to Mt Cook with good opportunities for photos. I do wish we had a bit more time during those stops, but the day was already rather long. Diana and Chris were engaging and friendly while providing good commentary. A bagged lunch was provided and eating it at Mt. Cook National Park cannot be beat. I did two of the shorter walks to the Tasman Glacier (above and below) which are doable in about an hour if you're a quick walker. Highly recommend this tour.

Stunning scenery! Dani was a very pleasant and fun driver/guide. The weather was beautiful. However, the recommended trail was a highway of ppl. Would have liked a different option, more challenging, and hopefully, not a crowded! Mahalo.

If you're travelling with this touring company, or probably any other in NZ in 2022 or 2023, listen up: sh!t can change for the worse very quickly. NZ is not ready to handle the amount of tourists they are getting right now.

I had booked a couple trips with Cheeky Kiwi (about a month in advance) - our trip from Queenstown to Christchurch which - THANK GOD - went ahead as planned, as I had a connecting train and then ferry attached to it. My awesome trip to Milford Sound with Cheeky Kiwi, however, was cancelled the evening before it was supposed to take place (they did try to notify me at around 5pm the night before but I had no access to my email so was not alerted to this at that time). So imagine my devastated surprise when a bus arrived at our hotel in the early morning to take us to our Milford Sound tour and picked up other passengers... but we got asked to get off the bus as it was "already full with other passengers" they were picking up along the way and our tickets didn't count for some reason. They were simply too busy and had too many drivers/tour guides call in sick with COVID, apparently, so my friend and I missed out on one of the top tours of the country, on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Our trip to Christchurch via Mt Cook (which we included the optional helicopter ride) was fantastic even though it was too windy to include the ski-plane portion, which I'm sort of surprised we didn't get some sort of discount for but whatever, I got to Christchurch in time so at that point was just happy my whole trip didn't fall apart after the Milford Sound debacle.

I was reimbursed for the last-minute cancelled Milford tour but there is no consolation in missing that. Also no opportunity to re-book, with any company, in the time we had there. I got a duly apologetic response from "Mark" at Cheeky Kiwi, but damn. What an epic disappointment.

Again: if you are travelling here, prepare for things to go sideways. A ton of stores/restaurants are closed intermittently; same staffing issues happening in every part of the world, I would imagine. Just didn't expect it to impact the trip I waited three years for in this way.

So - I didn't know what rating to give these guys. Sucking due to what I consider to be now-foreseeable circumstances (staff be calling in sick in droves these days, so take that into consideration if you run a service/tourism-based business and don't over-book) is driving down their rating.. managing to keep it together long enough to get me where I needed to be and providing me with an enjoyable experience along the way for that second tour drove the rating back up, putting the rating in the middle. Two of our guides for the Mt Cook tour - Sinchan and Krystal - could have pushed the rating over the top because they were both superb, knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating (Krystal went above and beyond) - but poor management left a bad taste in my mouth so I hope both Sinchan and Krystal get props - but Cheeky Kiwi in general is not doing ok right now and I hope circumstances for everyone improves soon.
