Best views in Queenstown
Great day climbing walls. We headed up to Hero Wall with Andrew, who picked us up from our accomodation and set us up to climb. We're both climbing novices, great knowledge of climbing and the local area, stellar day on the rock, with some stunning views over Queenstown. Would definitely hit up again!

Queenstown Climbing- solid half day and more!!
Jun 2019 • Solo
I wasn’t sure what to expect booking on climbing in the wintery month of June( & knowing that I was the only one booked on the day)- I had such a good day with Jamie!! The best of the guided activities I’ve done in Queenstown honestly - from pick up Jamie is personable ,good chat- I felt very safe under his expert guidance. Jamie made it so comfortable ,it really felt like climbing with a friend. As a gym climber I learnt a lot- after a stunning 40 min approach including a waterfall and climbing a three fun routes in Wye Creek ,Jamie asked me if I wanted to practice anchor building - I learned a lot! Jamie is patient and answered everything in good spirits and is a vast bucket of knowledge!

Weather wise -It was brisk out but not uncomfortable at all (if you’re thinking of going climbing in June and get a sunny day I’d say def do it!-I’m really glad I did.

Thanks a million Jamie for fab day and making my first climbing experience in NZ an amazing one! Climb on!

The beauty about climbing in Queenstown is just how much we get to do every month. If you are keen to get outside on our rock here and there is a sunny day at Wye Creek you can climb at any time of the year! At Basecamp Adventures we are all climbers at heart so we love to be able to spend the day with people who are climbers as well. It is such a rewarding experience when we get to help climbers transfer their skills and passion from the gym to the rock. We are glad that you had the confidence to come climbing in June! It is something that everybody should do!

Jamie is a very professional instructor, suitable for both beginner and experienced climbers
Thank you Climbing Queenstown for such a lovely Arawata Terrace outing. It didn’t take long to get a feel for the schist and all those neat solid horizontals. Our guide Jamie took good care of us and was excellent – he was patient while I brushed up on my cleaning sport anchors skills. Also coming from dry South Aussie, I loved the lush green-smelling landscape, with the Lake Wakatipu and mountain backdrop :)

Good morning
Got lucky and had a private half day’s climbing with Jamie. Met me on time (after I’d delayed it twice!) and was a really good guide for the whole time. Started me off on the easier routes but quickly moved me on to the stuff I found a lot tougher. Helped me crack a really tough wall and was very patient all the time. Good chat and even better taste in music.

Climbing itself i found really enjoyable. Good views and there’s definitely something for absolute beginners and those who’ve done it a fair bit before.

Cheers mate! Jonny

Good workout!
Had great fun climbing on rock in NZ. For a half day climb in a small group, I did about 5-6 routes of varying grades. Jamie was a pretty chill guide compared to others I’ve been with outside of NZ, but he made sure we were climbing safely the whole time. He was also very patient and encouraging as I kept trying to finish that last route but I was really glad to have made it. Thanks!

This was my first time climbing and am stoked to do it again. I'm not a natural but am excited to get back out there. Our guide Jamie was patient and never made me feel ridiculous. This is an activity you should definitely try at least once, especially in a place like Queenstown where every place you look is something beautiful.

This is my first time for rock climbing and I love it. I enjoy everything on the trip especially with our instructor, Jamie. He is so friendly and cheerful. I am really impressed with his service. For rock climbing, it suits all level of fitness. Don't worry if you are a beginner or never do this kind of activity before, the instructor will teach you everything. Finally, you will find yourself enjoy doing this.

I absolutely loved going out rock climbing with Jamie! We learned lots of skills and Jamie was really supportive of all of us, making sure we could complete the climbs. The views from up there were absolutely incredible, it was a real "off the beaten track" spot! Thanks for a great afternoon Jamie!

1/2 day climb in Wye Creek area of Remarkable Mountains
Jun 2018 • Family
We had a fun and thrilling climb with our guide, Ben, today. Though we were concerned about how cold it would be since snow has hit Queenstown, Ben had a place in mind that would be sunny and hopefully warm. He did not disappoint. The hike to get there had it's challenges with some snowy and icy patches, but it was a beautiful area and the scenery was a welcome distraction. We have some outdoor experience climbing, are not beginners but are very much intermediate climbers, our daughter can lead climb and is better than we are, but we are mostly gym climbers. Ben started us on an easy climb, made sure we knew what we were doing (safety first) and we all did great. He then moved us to another pretty easy climb, then the last one was the hardest. It was called "the mission" and we were proud to be able to get the mission accomplished. It was a thrilling, adrenaline filled climb. We are now excited to be able to say we have climbed in New Zealand. If you are looking for something adventurous and exciting to do, we highly recommend Climbing Queenstown!!

Hi Kenneth, thanks so much for your review! It is always great to hear from our guests and it sounds like you had a fantastic day out with Ben. Wye Creek is such a fantastic spot (those views are amazing!) and The Mission has to be one of our favourite climbs! Thanks again and hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip.
