Helicopter Picnic at Middle Earth Waterfalls from Queenstown

Overview
Fly by helicopter to Middle-earth Waterfalls on this 2-hour tour from Queenstown. Take in panoramic aerial views as you glide over Moonlight Saddle, the Richardson Mountains, and Lake Wakatipu, then touch down at Mount Earnslaw. Enjoy a gourmet picnic at Middle-earth Waterfalls and time to explore Earnslaw Burn, a Hobbit filming location that is accessible only by helicopter. This small-group tour is great for nature lovers and LOTR fans alike!
What to Expect

After pickup from your central Queenstown hotel, arrive at the heliport for your flight to Middle-earth Waterfall. Your pilot provides commentary as you lift off and soar over the rugged terrain of Moonlight Saddle, the Richardson Mountains, and Mount Earnslaw.

Descend 3,300 feet (1,000 meters) to land at the foot of Earnslaw Burn, a glacier covered with cascading waterfalls—and the spectacular setting for when Bilbo Baggins departs from Rivendell in The Hobbit.

Your pilot serves up a gourmet picnic lunch accompanied by wine, beer, or juice. Have free time to eat, snap photos, and take a walk in the stunning valley.

Travel with up to six people on the only tour authorized to land at the falls, a remote location accessible exclusively via helicopter or hours of hiking. Take in more scenery on the helicopter flight back to Queenstown, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
