Queenstown Skyline Gondola and Luge
From US$42.07
Though not as adrenaline-packed as the Olympic sport, the Queenstown luge winds downhill with stunning 220-degree views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables mountain range beyond. Ride the Skyline Gondola up to the top of Bob’s Peak where you’ll experience the Skyline Luge Queenstown on five rides — sure to satisfy any thrill-seeker. Choose the scenic track or descend a steeper gradient on the advanced track, or switch between the two specially designed routes.
What to Expect
The Skyline Gondola followed by five downhill luge rides offer visitors to Queenstown the ultimate combo. You’ll appreciate the rugged alpine scenery that each experience has to offer.

Make your way to the Skyline base, about a 10-minute walk from downtown Queenstown. You’re treated to panoramic mountain vistas from the enclosed gondola, which carries you up 1,476 feet (450 meters) — considered to be the Southern Hemisphere’s steepest cable car ride.

At the top of Bob's Peak, board a two-seater chairlift that takes you high above the Skyline building. Then choose from two distinct Skyline Luge Queenstown options: the scenic track or the advanced track, or alternate between both.

Part go-kart and part toboggan, the three-wheeled luge cart is steered on a leisurely ride around gentle bends on the scenic track, while the advanced track boasts a steeper gradient, higher speeds, banking corners, tunnels and more. Both provide the utmost safety features and allow you complete control.

Cruising downhill, you’ll take another chairlift to the start zone to complete all five rides before returning to Queenstown by Skyline Gondola.

This is lots of fun.

This is at least the third time I've taken the gondola ride. The view never fails to impress. There's a decent cafe/restaurant at the top for the culinary inclined; our mission was to go lugeing. And luge we did. The five luge ticket is only...More

Well laid out but expensive

We opted not to do the luge as the prices were fairly high and it cost enough just to ride the gondola.

So much fun to race with your friends

This is like a real mario cart experience. My group are all adults but we were having too much fun racing each other. The staff here gave clear instructions and it's so easy to drive. The gondola itself is also fun to ride of course....More

Luge is great fun

Good view from steap gondola. Luge is fun. Allow at least one hour time if you are doing five rides.
