      You won't regret this
This was an unforgettable experience! The scenery was breathtaking, the boat ride was exhilarating. Our driver quickly realized that we enjoyed doing "donuts" on the water and threw in more than he would do with a more cautious group. Skip the jet boat rides on the lake in Queenstown and do this instead. You won't regret it.

      Amazing Experience!
This was so fun, would absolutely recommend. Caleb was our guide and he was so friendly, he really made it a great day. The jet boat ride is really fun and just the right amount of speed, spins and scenery. We loved our day on the Dart River!

      A wonderful experience!
This was GREAT! Had so much fun! Amber (?) was our driver and fun yak guide and was awesome. The skies cleared by mid day and the water was the perfect depth to allow us access to the chasm and push us along downstream. The lunch was amazing and had something for everyone! I even jumped into the pool area by the chasm to experience the frigid cold water. What a wonderful experience!

We booked the jet boat and funyaks experience for February 2024. It was a fantastic experience overall - great scenery, balance of adventure/relaxation, and staff. If given the chance, make sure you cliff jump near the canyon!

      Incredible!
We had a change in weather when we arrived in Queenstown but….this outfit is very, very professional. We opted to go even though it had been raining and cold. We were driven in comfort to the Dart River location. We had head scarves, rain slickers and life jackets provided. The boats are awesome and John, our pilot, was skilled in providing an optimal trip. I loved the ride into this fascinating back country area. The jet boats are safe and comfortable. This truly was a highlight of the south island!

Great experience on the Dart river
Had a great trip on the Dart river! It’s such a beautiful spot although in Spring the water levels are low and so the funyaks need a haul upstream and the sandflies will attempt to nibble any exposed bits! The jet boat was fun and they made sure you are suitably geared up in wet suits, boots, waterproofs and fleeces. Just wear a swimsuit underneath. I didn’t swim as it’s very cold water despite looking inviting but the other half gave it a go - he didn’t last long!! Decent food at lunch although the vegan party member just had a bread roll and little cake - just an option of a salad sandwich which was poor and thought there might be some soup as described previously. It didn’t detract much from the overall experience though. It was lovely to paddle on that glorious blue water listening to the birds and seeing that amazing scenery. Thanks to the hard working guides! Slept well afterwards 🤣

      Family friendly
Highly recommend this tour. Big shout out to Erin who was our guide. Her chilled vibe and relaxed demeanour added to our experience. We have small children 5 and 7. I will say that the jet boat ride was too long for them. They enjoyed it for a while but it did feel like it went for a loooong time for us. This is not a criticism to the company though as we were informed of the length of the ride. Just incase others have children that age, be prepared for a long windy ride. Jimmy was our jet boat driver. We felt safe and he was clearly extremely capable and experienced. Once we began the funyak paddle back down the river we had 2 kayaks tied together (I think due to having small kids?) which is where Erin became our guide. I’m so glad she was assigned to us because she was easy to talk to and gave clear instructions :) We had a feeling some of the other guides may not have been as personable or as easy to chat to. They gave out kids a small paddle to use and they loved “helping” paddle and steer. The scenery is obviously incredible. The paddle into the chasm was beautiful and lunch was top notch. The clothing supplied was more than enough to keep us warm. (Even the children). We went in November and had a clear sunny day but quite windy. 100% would recommend.

If you miss it you’ll be sorry!
Absolute recommendation! If you visit Queenstown and you want to spend some time outside and see the landscapes, this is where you should go. The staff is very professional and friendly, and they do absolutely everything so that you can have a stunning experience. The gear they provide is top. We first took a ride on the jet boat to the starting point of the Funjaks Tour. After that we paddled down the river in small groups. We saw some very beautiful landscapes, had a decent lunch, could even go for a swim in the river and came back in the afternoon with a lot of good memories. Thank you Alisha and Ellie for a great day!

      Respectful, informative, and fun trip!
I had an absolutely lovely day funyaking with our guides JJ and Matt! The weather was perfect - could not have asked for a better day (sunny with a light wind). It was really poop weather yesterday, but Dart River Adventures nicely contacted me yesterday and asked if I would like to reschedule or get a refund - I'm really glad I gave myself one more day in Glenorchy and was able to reschedule until today. Both JJ and Matt were extremely nice and very informative. I especially liked the karakia that JJ gave before we entered the river on the funyaks and Matt's informative talk about the invasive mammal predators and Routeburn Dart Wildlife Trust. Thank you for the lovely day!

FUN day trip from Queenstown! Best day.
Awesome trip! From the bus ride from Queenstown to Glenorchy which was spectacular and interesting facts shared by our driver James. To the speed boat up the Dart River complete with spins. And the best part being in nature, walking through ancient forest and onto our FunYals to explore canyon then down the river easily paddling with the current. We had snow tge day we went but the team ensured we were warm with extra fleeces, soup and tea as well at the base camp. Awesome work Andreas, JJ and Nina. Thanks for a great day. Steph and Amy

Highlight of our 2023 NZ trip
The staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable about the river. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience as it had a bit of everything - exciting jet boating, a short and informative forest walk, great bird life, amazing kayak into a gorgeous river canyon with direct water flow from mountain glaciers - and a trip down river on small but fun rapids. Also, a shout out to the catering people who were very accommodating for vegans/gluten free - fresh, tasty salads and fruit, soup, and a delicious homemade vegan ginger bar for dessert - yummo!! Full day adventure, did not want it to end.

This had been recommended by 3 of our B&B Hosts and are so glad we booked to do it. Our time on the Lake and River was amazing. Excellent driving by Jordan and good in pointing out interesing points during our 360 spins. Great adventure.

Difficult to rate this activity as the boat trip deserved top marks, whilst the bus trip was not good,it felt like a cheap, uncomfortable way to lengthen the tour duration in order to justify the cost. Having done the Dart many years ago we were keen to take visiting overseas guests. The jet boat travel was as awesome as before with another great driver. It was very disappointing however to disembark and realise this tour has seriously changed. The forest walk ended with a bus ride, instead of return by boat. The lengthy bone shaking bus ride was not a good end to our fabulous jet boat ride. Guessing it is the only way to deal with the increasing numbers of tourists to this area. Personally we would have paid more to stay with the boat given the choice, and will only return with future guests should that option become available.
Pregnant women should not do this tour as advised, however those with back or neck problems should also be warned at time of booking, not in a light hearted manner once on board the boat with an option to "swim back now". There is no warning at all about the bone shaking bus trip.
Every member of the team was pleasant, well organised and knowledgeable, so criticism of them is not intended in this review.
We look forward to being able to take a jet boat up and down the Dart and enjoy the fabulous scenery without the "extras" please.

Well organized, pick up at hotel on time and great weather! The trip to Glenorchy has stunning scenery and when you get on the jet book, you are in for an exciting ride! The river, being very shallow, offers uts own thrill as you wonder how your driver can skid between piles of rocks and glacier deposits of sand and gravel.then when the water gets a little deeper, with warnings beforehand, he does 360’s with the boat! So much fun!! Each boat has maybe 12 persons. For those who want a fun ride that isn’t up to the level of bungee jumping or hang gliding, this is a great ride with the bonus of being in glorious scenery

I've traveled the world. This jet boat ride up the Dart River is on my top 10 things I've experience. The towering mountain scenery is amazing. The boat ride is fast but not jarring at all. You won't get wet. You go about 15 miles up the river. About half way back, they will drop you off where buses will take you to various TV & movie shouting locations. The road back to the office is very ruff and jarring.

Jet boat zooms you up a very shallow river. Exhilarating! Very scenic. Then kayak at a leisurely pace downstream. Highlight was a breathtaking detour into a slot canyon. Guides were knowledgable and chill. Pacing was perfect.

I thought this might be one of those things that was a little too "touristy" - fast boats doing 360 degree turns on an icy river?? But some friends told us we had to do it, that the scenery was beautiful, so we did it. Well, it turned out to be a great experience! The boats hold about 10-12 people, so it's not too crowded, and the bars you hold onto are very secure, so the 360s were actually fun, plus we got a little splashed. The jet boats are incredibly fast - they said we were going as fast as 75 miles an hour at times, and the draft is so shallow (4") that you skirt the gravel banks as you follow the river's twists and turns. While you're moving so fast, it's hard to really pay attention to the scenery (I was trying to hold on to my glasses so they wouldn't blow off) but we stopped quite a few times and got a better chance to look around. And it was beautiful, with the incredible New Zealand mountains rising all above us. They said we went up the river about 75 km and back in about 2 hours, so we got into a pretty remote area and got to see the mountains up close. I highly recommend this company and you must take a jet boat ride if you're in the area.

The whole experience from start to finish was exhilarating , staff friendly and helpful and Ed our driver was incredible, he was very reassuring as this was my 1st experience on a jet boat. the scenery was stunning even though I have visited Queenstown multilple times and been over whelmed by Queenstowns mountains the views we saw on the this trip were unbelievable beautiful and out of this world, the boat ride was exciting and alittle scary but always felt safe.I would highly recommend this jet boat ride and it was a high light of our trip

We loved our jet boat existence with Pedro today! Just the right balance of spins and speed, topped off with interesting insights about the river itself and history of the local people.

We felt exhilarated, yet safe, in Pedro’s hands as he navigated the windy and shallow river over 30 kilometres.

We had the opportunity to get out the boat for a short walk and to capture some photos too!

Definitely take the recommended extra fleece lined coat provided on arrival as the wind is very strong and cold when you’re powering up the river.

You’ll also get a life jacket and a good safety briefing too!

Good for all ages - the children on our boat had a blast as did the grandparents! A great two-hour trip, with a lovely 45 minute coach trip to the departure point in Glenorchy. Our coach driver gave us a great commentary on the way so we learnt more about the local area and history.

A brilliant half day out - left the pick up point at 8:30 and back by 12:45.

Jet boat fun amongst jaw dropping scenery.
My wife and I loved this fun and it was a brilliant way to get up front and personal with the water and snow capped mountains while enjoying a bit of 360 whip and speed thrills.
You have to admire the skill and knowledge of the driver, and Ed like all of them I am sure, came with a good sense of humour to match his expertise.
This is a jet boat experience first and foremost. There is no environmental tuition or interaction with nature. You get a chance to get off the boat for about 15 mins and stretch your legs on a rock island, but this is really just killing time and giving you an opportunity for great scenic photo shots, selfies with the boat and skipper and a chance to absorb the serenity.
If you want to stay dry, the front seat for 2 seemed best. If you want to feel the movement and thrills with a touch of pure water over your jacket, then the rear is a good option.
Safety was first class and water jackets were available for those unprepared.
The drive out to Glenorchy itself adds premium value to the Dart River thrill, so make sure you leave plenty of time to stop along the way and get some of the most beautiful views in the world.
We spend a good deal of time on the Great Ocean Road in Australia and the Glenorchy drive is the Crocodile Dundee of the Great Ocean knife experience

This is a great tour and I highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting Glenorchy. Our driver Ben was friendly, knowledgeable and made you feel comfortable that he was behind the wheel - as I suspect all their drivers do.
Overall, it's a great value trip and the best jet boating I've done anywhere. The jet boating itself was great fun and the scenery is truly spectacular. My wife and I found ourselves both keen to go back and do it again. For us, it's a must do.

    Glorious misty mountains

What an incredible tour for my family. It was chilly but an incredible up close experience with remote and majestic scenery. Although I have been to this area of NZ before I can’t imagine not continuing to visit this again and again.
The guide was lovely and informative and we loved our trip. We were there in winter and whilst it was very cold it was still exhilarating.
The trip to Glenorchy is absolutely mesmerising and from there is just continues to blow your mind.
