      Graceful homestead & boat
I thought it would be just another cruise but it blew my expectations. Comfortable & warm. Full bar. Had live music playing our favourites tunes in both directions Arrived at the homestead & was blown away by its beauty. The buffet dinner was amazing. Not your ordinary buffet. This had a home touch. Delicious. Following dinner as it is a working farm watched the kelpie rounding the sheep. A beautiful night & was so glad to have booked the cruise.

      doubtful sound
short bus ride from Te Anau, then got on the boat across lake manapouri, the bus ride over the pass was good although some clouds. we did stop at the overlook on the way back as the weather had cleared. excellent boat ride, waterfalls, saw some penguins swimming. wine, drinks and food on the ship although we brought our own. highlight of the trip

A well run tour. Just sit back and enjoy
From instructions on how to find the meeting spot to delivery back on time, everything went very smoothly. We enjoyed the trip on the TSS Earnslaw with efficient serving of snacks and coffee, and the commentary. Arriving at Walter Peak (the staff were outside waving) we were ushered inside to a seat and impeccable service. The buffet had everything you could want. Without being rushed, we were then ushered to an outdoor stadium to watch a sheepdog demonstration, very entertaining. Back on the Earnslaw after a wander in the shop and back to the wharf on time with an orderly disembarkation.

Beautiful views, very full day, well worth the money
Absolutely beautiful. A very full day, even from Te Anau, involving 2 coaches and 2 boats but so worth it to experience the views and the tranquility. There was loads of room on the boat, a great commentator and you could buy food/drinks on board if you wanted or take your own. All staff super friendly and professional. Particularly special to go up the side channels and also out to the meeting point with the sea. We benefitted from good weather, but it would be a great trip anyway.

      Problem with seating
Dinner was wonderful and the sheep shearing was entertaining, but, the boat trip could have been better. I would give them 5 stars if they managed seating better. At the moment people take your seat when you get up to go to the bar or take a photo. This happened to us and we saw it happen to others as well as some people try and get people to move out of a seat so they can have the seat. One day this will end in a big argument. By simply putting a rule in place that people should choose a seat and return to that seat throughout the boat trip would stop potential aggravation and make the trip less stressful especially for families. The boat trip is a long trip and marketed as a trip that in which you can go see how the steam boat works, get a drink, go to the toilet, etc this requires you moving from your seat and when people see others losing their seat just by getting a drink or taking a photo out the window they sit, they don't move to enjoy what is on offer. The few interrupt the many enjoying their trip.

1912 Steam ship cruise from Queenstown
Very well organised, fast accommodating the ships passengers to a well presented buffet bbq lunch. We added the farm experience and that was a good display of a working sheep dog under commands. Totally worth doing.

      Amazing!
Excellent!! Great staff and what a place that the one boat had to itself!! It would have been amazing but with blue sky, a couple of Dolphin displays and out into the sea for a little seal watching, it really was spectacular!

      Nice ambiance
The cruise experience was good. Though I am not really a meat eater, I find too much of a meat kind then seafood. But I enjoyed the food while looking at the sea.

      Fantastic evening
Lovely sail from Queenstown aboard the TSS Earnslaw, delicious dinner at the farm (thank you Ruby for your amazing service), then insightful sheep shearing and dog show demonstration - fantastic evening!

      Excellent all around!
The TSS Earnslaw cruise on Lake Wakatipu was relaxing and beautiful. The boat itself was so pretty & historic (built in the same year as the Titanic), and it was neat to see how the boat is still being run using coals. The only disappointing thing was that the PA system was not working on the outside, so we were unable to hear the commentary from the captain as we cruised Lake Wakatipu. The lunch buffet at Walter Peak High Country Farm was spectacular and delicious! The lakefront view was amazing. Food was high quality and good, service was excellent. We also enjoyed the sheep shearing and sheep herding demonstration. So informative and enjoyable. A definite must-do if you're visiting Queenstown.

Totally awesome experience, all of it!
The cruise was lovely still in the light with nice info given also about the TSS Earnslaw, my husband went to have a look around and saw the engine room and downstairs. It is just amazing how this old boat from 1912 originally works so beautifully, hat off to the people working in the engine room and scooping coals into the fire. The info was a bit hard to hear with all the people talking though. The dinner was delicious and the staff wonderful. So much food, two sides of a bar lined with different kinds of BBQ meat and grilled Bluff’s fish of the day, a roast vegetable bar, a seafood bar, a salad bar and a dessert bar. The meat was constantly filled up and there was plenty for everyone. The farm show with a sheep being shorn and Miss the dog showing off her herding skills was very cool and brought humorously by Ashley. Back to the boat in the pouring rain so we all quickly went back on after the show. The pianist, who had played the way there, had now put booklets down for a sing-a-long which was enjoyed by everyone and big fun. Before we knew it we were back in Queenstown on the wharf. Definitely recommend doing this when in Queenstown, it is awesome and worth it’s money.

      Great value for money!
The whole experience was amazing and such great value for money. The farm tour guide shared so much knowledge and made it interesting. The food was next level and certainly don't need to eat before you go even if it's just the afternoon tea trip. Very well presented and smoothly run. Would certainly recommend.

      Fabulous from start to finish
We were very impressed by the whole experience. The steamship was in immaculate condition and we loved the history and photos on display. The Walter Peak High Country Farm exceeded our expectations. The buildings and gardens were amazing with the most picturesque rose garden. The bbq buffet lunch was absolutely delicious with a very high quality selection of food offered. The staff were also very welcoming and courteous. The farm show was also a hit. Kevin and his border collie Mia were a great team. I would highly recommend this tour

My friend and I spent a pleasant two hours on board TSS Earnslaw while in Queenstown. The experience of crossing Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak is lovely with great views of the Remarkables and Queenstown. However, for the 80 NZD charged, they really do squeeze as many people on board as possible. If you want a seat - inside or outside - you better get in the queue early, and / or get your elbows out. While quite a few people got off the boat at Walter Peak to enjoy further experiences, it nonetheless felt like we were squeezed on to a passenger ferry when we had signed up for the experience itself. We both thought for the cost of the experience it would have been better to perhaps allow a little more breathing room.

We pre-booked the TSS Earnslaw well in advance and loved just cruising along the lake over the 90mins. We didn’t choose the lunch option which takes a lot longer, as we usually skip lunch, however people have told me it’s very good value. There is a bar onboard which was good, the staff are welcoming and to watch two coal fired steam engines is amazing, something I’m glad to have experienced. This tour on the Earnslaw was an absolute icon.

Absolutely loved it!! We did the afternoon tour with afternoon tea.

The boat trip was really enjoyable and was great to explore the boat museum and steam room.

And then when we got to the farm, Tim our guide was really great to listen to and very informative and entertaining.

    Afternoon was also very delicious.

Would highly recommend this tour to anyone, especially those with kids

Really enjoyed the whole experience, being able to watch the crew and the engine was surprisingly interesting and the scenery as we headed to Walter Peak is stunning.

The BBQ dinner at the Station is truly gourmet and we couldn't fault the quantity or quality of the meal. We also enjoyed walking around the farm and the 'dog show' was also entertaining.

This was much better than I was expecting and I would definitely recommend it for everyone to enjoy.

Taking the TSS Earnslaw to the Walter Peak station was rather a unique surprise. From boarding to the trip and the visit to the farm, I cannot fault the operation. It is certainly worth looking into NZ history.

Did this trip as friends had done the week before. On their trip there was a singer and a piano player, they loved it. On ours nothing!

Commentary was appalling, the guy just mumbled into the microphone. Even standing right next to speaker couldn’t make out more than a few words.

It was interesting seeing the stokers at work in the engine room, but otherwise an overpriced ferry.

To cap it all overpriced tea and coffee tasted awful, when I complained was told some people like the taste. No apology, no refund, no alternative, just tough mate suck it up.

    Overall very disappointing.

You can see why she's called the Lady of the Lake. She has a dignified feel about her that comes with over 110 years service. She is beautiful, inside and out. Hubby was very impressed with the 3 cylinder steam engine, which can be seen working from a viewing platform above the engine room. They serve drinks and lovely biccies and loaf from the on board cafe.

The trip across Lake Wakatipu was gorgeous. The lake was a little choppy but the boat handled it beautifully. The sights of the lake, the mountains and Walter Peak station were awe inspiring. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

To start. Girl who took booking spoke so quietly nobody could hear here. She was unsure in what she said. Couldn’t answer our questions.
Commentary poor. Intro recorded by an English man is good. But don’t know what happened after that! Sounded like an old guy who had never used a microphone before. Staff tried to say it was due to poor speakers. That’s wrong. Better to get a good English-speaking New Zealander to do the commentary. It was terrible. Nobody on our tour understood anything. Should have asked for money back.

We boarded the TSS Earnslaw for a trip to Walter Peak Station. This 1912 steamship was remarkable. Spend time watching the crew shovel coal into the furnaces. Try to stay away from the belching smoke. The indoor area had comfortable seating and a small table area for snacks and beverages. This was a great way to see Lake Wakitipu.

Best option to spend a relaxed couple of hours out of Queenstown.

We caught the evening sailing, enjoyed some great food and drink from the onboard cafe.

Unfortunately the electronic piano inside the grand piano body was a bit too much (despite the playing ability) with an electric synth sound, so we then intentionally headed away to where we couldn’t hear the ‘piano’.

Which was great because we went to the much quieter downstairs, was mesmerised by the mechanical artistry of the engine room, the much nicer downstairs booths, and talking with the chief engineer for about half the outbound leg, and 3/4 of the inbound leg too. Big shout to the passionate and friendly engine crew!

Lovely old ship and great relaxed evening after a busy day.
