        Best 4wd experience ever!
Our guide Justin was the the best. I was scared. He talked me through it and put me at ease. He was friendly knowledgeable and experienced. The trip in to Macetown was nothing short of amazing. The landscape in autumn was so beautiful, and the sheer history was incredible. I am so glad I went. Thank you to Justin for giving us an incredible experience ❤️

        Great LOTR experience
Tour guide/driver (Cam) was fantastic and so knowledgable. We were lucky enough to be in the new GRIMAS Land Cruiser. Loved seeing the scenes appear in front of us - we've since gone back and watched the movies and they mean so much more after having been there.

Thrills in a 4 WD in the mountains of Queenstown.
Soap was our driver for our thrilling 4 WD trip up the mountains in Queenstown. We stopped for photo ops with the mountain range behind us. He pointed out castle rock, lighthouse rock. You could tell he was a pro. Splashed through rivers, bouncing all the way. He has a great sense of humor and was very friendly. He gave us some fun facts about what we were seeing. It was evident he really likes his job. Want an exciting thing to do out of the city to see scenic vistas from mountain tops? This is the tour to take. Hopefully you will get Soap. He made it very fun.

        Beautiful scenery and fun hike!
We had an amazing hike led by Benjamin! He informed and entertained us on the drive to the trailhead from Queenstown. It was clear that Benjamin was experienced and focused on making this hike a great experience for us….he checked in periodically on the pace and our wishes for photos, and need for breaks. We preferred a faster pace and due to the smaller group, we were able to make it to the Landslide lookout where we had a tasty lunch and just enjoyed the view. The scenery was spectacular- clear water, forest, views of glaciers and some wonderful waterfalls. Thanks, Benjamin, for a very personalized and enjoyable hike of 11.5 miles! You have a gift for guiding!

        Great day on ATVs
They picked us up downtown and drove us up to the ATV base. Great instruction with some good humor and solid advice. We got out on the trails after and had a great time. Lots of dust and lots of fun.

        Amazing trip.
I was picked up promptly from my hotel and we headed right up to skippers canyon. Our drivers family went back to the original settlers of this area and he was able to tell us a lot of personal stories growing up in this area. We were blessed with an incredibly crystal clear day and amazing views. I enjoyed the tea and biscuit stop when we got to the school house. Also enjoyed walking across the suspension bridge. I must have taken hundreds of pictures.

Great fun and worth the money
The guys Dan and Mike were really lovely and good fun. They ensured we were fully capable by doing some initial skill tests before taking us up the mountain. I'd highly recommend. It was definitely my favourite adventure in QT above Paragliding and the Nevis Swing.

Excellent hike, beautiful scenery with knowledgeable guide.
Lovely hike on a track through trees up the mountain with the sight and sound of waterfalls along the way. We had a small group of 4, luckily, and walked just over 16 km in around 5.5 hrs total trip. The walk was a steady rise with a few minor steep bits but nothing major. It was a there and back trek with a picnic halfway. The weather was kind and the scenery beautiful with some lovely waterfalls containing crystal clear water, stunning. Our guide, Jono, was extremely knowledgeable, not just about the route but also Māori cultural in general. He was good at checking in on how we were feeling, conscious of the return walk, giving options for us to choose on distance and highlighting time between toilets. Jono was a definite bonus. This is not a walk for young children however there is the longer possibilities for those wanting to trek further. Routeburn Track provides different levels of challenge, you choose what you want. A great day out.

We had Jenny as our tour guide and she was so knowledgeable and stopped whenever we needed. She even found out none of our group had been 'officially' welcomed by the Maori community so she performed the ceremonial dance for us. It really helped to make it special for us

Excellent half day with our driver/guide Jenny. This was a tour of several of the locations used in the LOTR films. Jenny (aided by stills from the films) painted effective pictures of how the locations were used.

Although a 4wd was probably not essential to reach all of these locations it was an excellent off-road exploration.

It sounds like you were on a Glenorchy LOTR tour. The 4WDs on the Queenstown trip are definately needed as we head up the river but the LOTR locations in Glenorchy in the Summer are easier to get to without a 4WD, but we use them as they are great for small groups (max of 6 passengers)

We loved this 4WD tour of a number of Lord of the Rings filming locations around Queenstown & Glenorchy. Jenny is a friendly, down-to-earth, articulate guide with great knowledge of this stunning area & how the LOTR films were made. She was also intuitive about us, slightly amending our itinerary to get us across 4WD river-crossings deep into Galadriel's ancient beech forests at the 'end of the road' in Mt Aspiring NP. We appreciated that aspect of the trip very much. We will fondly remember this tour for a long time to come! Thanks Jenny & Nomad Safaris!!

Jenny was our guide and expert driver.
It was cloudy the day of our tour, if we had followed the original itinerary we wouldn't have seen much. Jenny was good as she offered to adapt the tour to consider the weather conditions to ensure we had the best experience possible. You felt like you were in good hands when driving through some of the winding mountain roads that is pretty typical in NZ. She was willing to adapt the roads travelled on depending on how much of a daredevil (or not) you were which was great. We really enjoyed our LOTR experience and was really happy to have booked them.

This tour is so over priced. $245 per person for a 4 hour drive in a beat up old troop carrier. We didn’t even receive afternoon tea. In saying this Josh our guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable, a good driver and we enjoyed his company. And the scenery is spectacular. In comparison though a trip on TSS Earnshaw to Walter Peak station with a huge gourmet bbq and sheep dog show was only $135 per person. I can’t see how they can charge so much for the lord of the rings tour. Most disappointing.

Value for money! We are a young family of four with kids aged 11 and 8 that travel regularly and this has to rate in the top 3 of tours we’ve done anywhere in the world. Our guide Jenny was amazing she had bucket loads of local and fact based knowledge she shared throughout and the views were breathtaking. The half day experience was diverse with amazing views from skippers to true 4x4 river crossings with a little gold panning and more. At every step you felt like one of the early settlers albeit wrapped in comfort and safety. Jenny however made the day from the moment she picked us up from our BnB till drop off.
This is a definite must do so treat yourself!

This was our first trip to New Zealand’s South Island. Although I wasn’t a LOTR fanatic, I was intrigued to experience it with some adventure - and Nico with Nomad Safaris did not disappoint! It was a fun morning of seeing the interesting sites in Queenstown and surrounding areas, including Arrowtown and the Gold Rush. But the most exhilarating part, was Nico’s 4-wheel driving through the rushing Arrow River, water splashing over the hood and over the running boards! Nico offered for us to try gold panning, but all passengers declined because it was pouring rain. But, we all took him up on the hot chocolate, fresh banana bread and cookies. Nice touch! Nico had us back, on time, to continue our day. Price is good value for the adventure. Thank you!

We had such an incredible afternoon on this tour! We joined a group that had been on the tour all morning going to Lord of the Rings locations, and that meant we (in the afternoon) only got to visit about 3 film locations. Our disappointment was extremely short-lived because the other things we got to do were so fun and such a unique experience! Getting to go off-roading is a blast, from driving in a river to having tea overlooking the most jaw-droppingly beautiful mountain range. We got to pan for gold for a little bit which was cool, even though you're unlikely to get any.
Our guide, I believe her name was Jenny(?), was so fantastic!!! I've been on a lot of tours in a lot of countries and she's one of the best guides I've ever had. She was so fun and brought such a great energy to the experience. She was easy to talk to and was very knowledgeable about the area and just clearly enjoys the job. Most importantly, though, I never felt remotely unsafe with her behind the wheel. We were doing some pretty crazy things in that car but I always felt like she was fully in control.
This tour was an absolute blast and offers such a unique experience that you won't be able to really find anywhere else. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone!
