      Exceeded Expectations
The cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the TSS Earnslaw is a wonderful experience and the boat itself is fascinating. How wonderful to still have such a piece of history fully operational. The views are wonderful and when you get to the other side the BBQ buffet lunch at Walter Peak Station is fabulous. I was expecting just a regular buffet but gosh what a surprise - the food was beautiful and an amazing variety of innovative offerings. We absolutely loved our day and would definitely go again. We would just like a fine day next time so that we could enjoy the beautiful grounds and lovely rose gardens. But weather is what it is and the rain did not spoil our time at all

      Awesome Overnight!
Lovely experience. Awesome crew, beautiful scenery, and fun kayaking off the boat. A great experience and certainly worth the time! Like a lot of things in New Zealand, it really is as gorgeous as it appears in photos!

      Excellent Transportation
Our return to the South Island was smooth as glass and fast. We enjoyed watching a variety of birds fly and bob along. We highly recommend this mode of transportation.

      Excellent Transportation with Exceptional Views
This was an excellent part of our adventure. It took one hour to arrive on Stewart Island. We enjoyed seeing wildlife, and time flew by. Parking in a secure car park is available (don’t park across the street from the terminal).

      Steam boats are cool!
Interesting boat trip with awesome views. Lots of history on board it's like a functioning boat museum. Didn't do the buffet so can't comment on that...not sure it was worth it.

Not enough superlatives! Do it if you can!
I experienced this overnight cruise in (NZ) summer with my adult daughter on the smaller boat which had 32 guests aboard and I echo all the positives shared here. The boat is well appointed, spotless and comfortable whether en suite or not (we selected shared bathrooms which were kept very clean throughout and it's only one night!). The crew are really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, giving information and commentary on the voyage (and taking videos and photos for us), the food is plentiful and of a very high standard and hot and cold drinks are constantly available. I strongly disagree with those who feel that the weather needs to be good! We had the most atrocious conditions in this very wet part of New Zealand, persistent heavy rain and low cloud, but this created the most spectacular waterfalls and mists for us, and created a fabulous, eerie atmosphere. A quick swim in the fjord in the pouring rain, followed by a hearty supper, was an incredible experience too ( those who kayaked in the rain were invigorated by their experience too). Just do make sure you have the right clothing i.e. layers and a good waterproof jacket and embrace whatever weather you get! This cruise isn't about 'dressing for dinner'! The cloud often lifts in the early morning so be prepared to get up early, wrap up warm, take a hot drink on deck to soak up the wonder and potential of our planet. Magic! I had previously taken a day cruise on Milford Sound and that is a different experience. Many more people and boats and just as likely to be wet weather, but if you have limited time then that's a wonderful taste of the fjords. However, if you have the time and can afford the (I think reasonable) fare then the journey to Doubtful Sound (a boat across Lake Manapouri and an entertaining bus ride to your boat) adds to the experience of a fjord without other craft and minimal people. I highly recommended it as a truly memorable experience.

      Fun evening!
We booked this during a free day in Queenstown. The boat ride was charming. The buildings and gardens were just beautiful. The dinner was quite good. The farm show after dinner was great. Got to watch a dog working the sheep. Impressive!

      Great location, food, experience.
I've done this dinner a few times now. Whenever I bring friends to Queenstown this is on the list. It's a great experience. The journey across the lake on the Earnslaw is beautiful. Walter peak station is really well kept and the food is so plentiful and delicious! Shout out to Elia, who was our server for the evening. All the team are great, Elia was extra awesome. Thanks for helping us have a fun evening.

Wonderful experience and one of the highlights of our trip
We absolutely loved the gourmet BBQ dinner cruise to Walter Peak Station on the TSS Earnslaw. The food was divine and the sheep dog and shearing show was a great added bonus. The Earnslaw has a wonderful history and is maintained in fantastic order. We highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting Queenstown - you will not be disappointed.

      Not Worth If You’re Vegetarian
IF YOU’RE VEGETARIAN OR VEGAN OR DF DON’T GO WALTER PEAK FOR LUNCH!!! Its not worth the price because they do not cater any special dietary requirement even after selecting vege or vegan at the time of booking. Disappointed Buffet for vegetarian. Booking #210510120

      Magical trip!
Our cruise around Doubtful Sound was awesome. We all met at the Manapouri Marina and were taken across the lake on a Real NZ boat for 45 minutes across the lake to the drop off point next to the ‘underground’ hydro electric power station Great commentary on the flora, fauna and geology of the lake and its surrounding hills and mountains. We then had a coach trip expertly driven and commentated by Tony over the Wilmot pass to the Deep Water jetty. There were a couple of stops to admire the amazing views. The boat is lovely. We had a small cabin with twin beds and an en-suite shower room which was perfect for an overnight stay. We were well looked after by Captain Brett, nature host Brock, the boat manager, Megan and her team. Excellent food and a well stocked bar. The cruise was fantastic helped, no doubt, by glorious sunshine and calm seas. No whales or dolphins for us but seals on the Tasman sea. The kayaking was fun (make sure you put insect repellant on) and some people swam. The morning started early but included 10 minutes of silence where everything was turned off and we all appreciated the waterfalls and birds. Different to Milford Sound but more ‘magical’’ in our view. Back the same way to Manapouri. A great 24 hours.

      A Queenstown Experience
The boat ride on the steam ship to Walter Peak farm is a great way to begin your evening. The Walter Peak staff are very friendly and helpful. They are also well organised. The food was fantastic, a buffet of wood roasted meats with delicious salads and vegetables. The after dinner farm demonstration was great to watch. A must do if you are in Queenstown.

      Great new experience.
This was an exciting new experience to do over at Walter Peak. It was just a small group of being shown around which was was great as it allowed us to all ask questions, the guides Sonya and Ashley were so knowledgeable and made the experience. Planting a tree, trying the fresh vegetables/fruit straight from the new garden and enjoying the afternoon tea after, all of it was good fun for all ages too, would definitely recommend.

      Not to be missed
I had been told that a trip on the TSS Earnslaw was something one must do in Queenstown and they were right. The boat itself is fascinating - one of the few coal powered steamers still operating in the world. We did the farm tour. Congratulations to Phil and Kim (Border Collie sheepdog) for an instructive and entertaining tour including shearing and demonstrating the fantastic prowess of sheepdogs

We really enjoyed this unique experience in Queenstown, riding horses across the stunning vistas of New Zealand. The farm is lovely, with beautiful gardens and animals…and afternoon tea after the ride was a nice touch. Our guides seemed to really enjoy what they do—with a special affinity for the horses. We’d definitely recommend this pleasant tour for something different and memorable to do in beautiful New Zealand.

From boarding the TSS Earnslaw to literally jumping off the saddle, this experience was well worth it! Appreciate the ladies (Tegan and Cody) for saddling us up and taking us on a journey we will remember, especially since we caught the most beautiful photos on horse back over looking the mountains and rivers. Felt completely safe the entire time and I give high praise to my horse Riley for being a very cheeky & friendly giant. Afternoon tea was delicious and the selection of treats had us all drooling!

We came to Queenstown over the Easter break and spent all our time on thrill seeking rides, so it was so pleasant to spend a more laid back afternoon taking the Earnslaw out to Walter Peak Farm and go on the horse trek. Lloyd our lead guide was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable with a dry wit. There were only four of us on the trek and it was really value for the money. A beautiful view. Quiet, well cared for horses. And some lovely company. Lloyd walked with us and had his hunting dogs join the trek. that a pack of characters. No danger of them getting in the way - the horses tolerated their presence! And there was another guide, riding at the back of our group. The afternoon tea is brilliant and the ride on the Earnslaw really is all part of an excellent overall experience. Highly recommended!!!

The entire experience was brilliant. Thank you for taking us into a tour of the divine landscape.

Not without some hiccups. The trainer the guide was bitten by her horse and my wife accidentally fell off the horse. But it was sheer bad luck.

This was amazing! The scenic boat trip, followed by a beautiful casual horse ride, taking in the views, stopping to take some pic’s & videos along the way. The horses are beautiful and the guides (Benny & Kody) were so caring & accommodating to everyone! Such a great experience & a holiday highlight for us.

I absolutely loved this activity- the steam ship was great, the horse trek was by far the stand out part. I haven’t ridden for a couple of decades, however the instructor was helpful and the horses relaxed and know what they are doing. Afternoon tea was much bigger than expected- more lunch than afternoon tea. All round great day.

If you have never experienced horse riding before, the tour offers a wonderful introduction. You'll have the opportunity to leisurely ride a horse through the farm, gradually ascending a small mountain and enjoying the breathtaking view. The only downside is that if you're assigned a late time slot for the ride, you might not have enough time to explore the farm on foot.

It was as advertised. The trip across in the coal fired boat was relaxing. The horse trail itself is short, like maybe less than an hour. The girls Tegan and Cody were fantastic, and the horse placid. The afternoon tea afterwords was top quality. Gardens and shop at the farm are also worth the walk around. It’s pricey for what is on offer of course but that’s Queenstown for you.
