Cruising Milford Sound is among New Zealand’s most spectacular activities, but the mountain scenery that lines the coast is just as gorgeous. Experience both on this full-day trip from Queenstown, traveling through the heart of Fiordland National Park, and then cruising all the way to the edge of the Tasman Sea. An included Kiwi-style barbecue lunch completes the excursion, which includes plenty of sightseeing stops throughout the day.
What to Expect
Meet a driver at your hotel in Queenstown (select hotels only), and then board a comfortable coach bus for the scenic trip to Milford Sound.

Follow the Eglington River to the head of Eglington Valley, with a break to stretch your legs on a walk through the lush forest. Your lunch of lamb-and-chicken kebabs, sausages, salads, fresh bread, and juice is served en route.

Continue through the Homer Tunnel, and then wind into the Cleddau Valley, arriving at Fiordland National Park. Upon arrival at Milford Sound, board a sightseeing cruise for trip that traces the sound to the outlet on the Tasman Sea, passing waterfalls that tumble from high cliffs along the way. Keep your camera ready during this portion of the tour as it’s common to spot seals and other wildlife while cruising Milford Sound.

Following your time at Milford Sound, begin the return trip to Queenstown, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

Milford sound bbq

Wonderful way to see a lot of the island in a short time. Our host was very knowledgeable and also considerate. Lots of little stops to see things and stretch our legs. It was a full day, but it was the highlight of our visit.

Amazing Trip

We traveled to Milford Sound on a very wet and dreary day (March 21st) and though the tour guide Chris indicated that the waterfalls at the sound would be "amazing", the heavy bands of rain that we drove through seemed as if we were in...More

I don’t believe there are limits to size of groups. There were around 10 people in the group we went with. There are a couple of scenic stops where you get out of the van and walk, but if your parents want to stay with the... More
