Awesome and memorable tour
Feb 2020
My wife and I and our two daughters wanted to visit Milford Sound and decided on the GreatSights Day Tour from Queenstown. The luxury glass-roofed coach was spacious and comfortable and our driver was professional, informative and entertaining. The trip to Milford Sound is exceptionally scenic including alpine forests, glacier valleys, cascading waterfalls and mountain peaks. The stop at Lake Te Anau, the largest lake in the South Island was enjoyable, as besides the lovely views, it gave us a chance to stretch our legs and have cappuccinos and croissants at the very nice tour supported local gift and coffee shop. The stop at Mirror Lakes was also enjoyable, enhanced by the wonderful views. Upon arrival at Milford Sound we boarded a luxurious and spacious catamaran with plenty of indoor seating as well as large outdoor decks that enable you to really appreciate the awesome splendour and beauty of the fiord, including the towering Mitre Peak and the spectacular Stirling and Bowen waterfalls plummeting into the sea. The live commentary provided during the cruise was interesting and informative and we were fortunate to see dolphins and seals. The lunch provided on board was tasty and fulfilling. After the cruise and at the start of our trip home, we were also fortunate to see a kea mountain parrot up close. Overall the tour was absolutely awesome and extremely memorable.

Kia Ora, thank you so much for taking the time to write us this 5 star review. It really is a beautiful part of New Zealand with so many stunning views and scenery to take in! Sounds like you were lucky to see dolphins and seals while out on the cruise too! Great to hear. Anna and the team at GreatSights

Disappointed
Feb 2020
Wee are a family of five, currently visiting NZ.
We previously took your tour to Cape Renga where we had a great experience.
Therefore it was only natural to choose Great Sigts to take us to Milford Sound.
The bus was great and the driver was very friendly and helpful.

The boat tour, the hight off the day, was a disappointment.

The boat tour was only about an hour and ten minutes, and there wasn’t much commentary about the sights and scenery. It was clear that they where in an hurry.
A quick in and out.
Something the Great site’s guide confirmed when asked.
The buffets was at first site delightful, but there wasn’t any New Zealand inspired Food. The brochure saiid it would be local food
Therefore my kids haven’t had any, apart from some rice bread and salad.
Lunch consisted off
Rice, bread, Nudels with tofu, an Indian dish, fish in a sauce, Chicken in soy sauce. Lamb balls in sauce. Mixed vegetables steamed in sauce. Coleslaw. Green salad. Tinned fruit.
All the dishes where mixed up in sauce or marinade.
Anyone who has children now that is a no go.
They where also in a hurry, Pretty soon the buffet was gone again.

The wait
After the quick in and out and a very quick walk to the bus. I had to tell my son that there wasn’t time to go to the bathroom.
We sat I the bus for 25-30 minutes before it started moving. For what reason ?

All in all my family and I are left with a bad experience.

I have sent mails to Great Sites, a month ago, but I haven’t heard from them.

We do appreciate you taking the time to let us know about this and will look into the details for you as soon as possible. You mentioned you sent us an email last February, can you please send us an email at info@greatsights.co.nz so I can check why you haven't received a reply yet from us? We were lucky to have a great driver and guide in Mike- he was very entertaining and gave us great insights throughout the journey. His knowledge about this area is commendable - a very responsible, fun guy with a terrific sense of humor. Scenic tour
Mar 2020
We traveled on a Comfortable Grayline Coach with driver Awesome Adrian. He gave an informative commentary on the journey and some political comments. Travel time was longer than normal because of recent flooding damage to the road. We Cruised on Millford Sound on the Millford Cruiser. Again the captain gave a excellent commentary. This is the best sightseeing trip I have done.

Very long bus ride. Most unpleasant with crying babies on bus. Should be an age limit on a trip of this length. 10 hours on bus is no fun even without crying babies. Milford Sound was beautiful. Bus driver great. But the ride? Not so great.

Long day but great trip
Feb 2020 • Couples
The road to Milford Sound got badly damaged from the rain on the 3 February. They are only allowing coaches in and to achieve this they go in convoy. This adds about 40 mins to the trip. The driver David had a very long day but dealt with all the new problems well. He had a great commentary on the way out and we stopped at a few places to take photos on the way. The boat ride was great fun it is such an awesome place to visit. Stunning! Highly recommend.
