I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore Milford Sound and the spectacular spots along the way (Te Anau, Fiordland etc). Paul, our couch driver and guide, made the journey so much more enjoyable by sharing his passion and rich knowledge about the surrounding lands, ecosystem, its history and Maori legends. The stops on the way to Milford Sound were very scenic and the perfect length to stretch your legs. Milford Sound itself is just breathtaking. The picnic lunch was fresh and generous in size. A huge thank you to Paul for an experience we will not soon forget.

This was definitely a worthwhile day for the family, Paulie was a fantastic guide, he was obviously very knowledgeable about the route, he managed to strike a good balance between giving information and not talking too much. The views along the trip and throughout the sounds were unforgettable. I had considered driving there and back myself but I think it was worth it to have someone else do the driving, explanations etc. Highly recommended.

Our bus guide/driver Eric was excellent, super knowledgeable, had great stories, super responsible driver and great at multitasking (drove safely while guiding at the same time!) Even kept us feeling safe by telling us about his driving technique/how he passes cars on the road. Very punctual (don’t be late!) and sticks to schedule. Got to see all the beautiful sights along the way to the Sound without having to go to trouble of finding your own way there. Highly recommended if not wanting to drive long hours on sometimes difficult roads. The Jucy cruise captain was humorous and took us right up to a magnificent waterfall, you will get soaked if you are outside! Buffet lunch was average as expected (plus super long queueing time!), with these types of tours. All in all I had a fantastic day and learned a lot, thanks to Eric! :)

My wife and I and our two daughters wanted to visit Milford Sound and decided on the GreatSights Day Tour from Queenstown. The luxury glass-roofed coach was spacious and comfortable and our driver was professional, informative and entertaining. The trip to Milford Sound is exceptionally scenic including alpine forests, glacier valleys, cascading waterfalls and mountain peaks. The stop at Lake Te Anau, the largest lake in the South Island was enjoyable, as besides the lovely views, it gave us a chance to stretch our legs and have cappuccinos and croissants at the very nice tour supported local gift and coffee shop. The stop at Mirror Lakes was also enjoyable, enhanced by the wonderful views. Upon arrival at Milford Sound we boarded a luxurious and spacious catamaran with plenty of indoor seating as well as large outdoor decks that enable you to really appreciate the awesome splendour and beauty of the fiord, including the towering Mitre Peak and the spectacular Stirling and Bowen waterfalls plummeting into the sea. The live commentary provided during the cruise was interesting and informative and we were fortunate to see dolphins and seals. The lunch provided on board was tasty and fulfilling. After the cruise and at the start of our trip home, we were also fortunate to see a kea mountain parrot up close. Overall the tour was absolutely awesome and extremely memorable.

The tour company runs a decent operation however there are aspects that need to be improved. Signed up for the Queensland—Milford Sound tour on February 1st. The bus showed up right on schedule and the vehicle was very clean. Each seat had a water bottle. There were three stops for photo sessions and sight seeing—the Chasm was especially breath taking.
Now for the negative. The toilet did not flush the entire round trip. The driver drove competently but he had a tendency to follow the vehicle in front closely—often times at less than one bus length or less. This meant the velocity could not be moderated simply by letting off the gas to slow down. Instead there was constant braking and acceleration which lead to many passengers getting nauseated—yours truly included. Needless to say it was the longest 9 hour bus ride and I contemplated renting a car at the last stop. Tailgating is dangerous and leads to accidents. Additionally the driver would safely pass slower vehicles during long straight aways but would cut back prematurely forcing them to brake suddenly—again not a safe maneuver.

Although the coach ride is long, the driver provided interesting and amusing commentary... and many toilet stops. On the water you will be in awe of the scenery.... even on an overcast day. Our driver let us know about flights back and I took him up on it. It cost 420 dollars, but the views from above were also amazing. Plus. the flight takes about 30 minutes opposed to the 4-hour bus ride home.

Kia Ora Paul2key, It seems you had an amazing experience at Milford Sound and we are glad to hear about it! We hope you have taken a lot of photos to remember your time there. The scenery is indeed beautiful - no matter what the weather is like. I believe the flight is worth the price. After all, you never know if you will have the opportunity to do that again. Thank you for writing about your experience. If you ever choose to revisit Milford Sound, we hope you choose us again. All the best for your future travels, Maye and the team at GreatSights

The 5 hours coach each way might sound dull, but it is far from it. The driver, Eric, was funny, insightful, and entertaining throughout the entire trip, and the views are spectacular from start to finish.

The cruise itself was incredible too, with incredible waterfalls and mountains. We even saw a few lazy seals lounging around on the rocks. The only downside of this trip was a rather bland buffet lunch on the ship, but the rest of the trip more than made up for it.

My husband and I booked a coach trip to Milford Sound, our tour guide and driver is Paul(Pauly potato from Irish xx),he is the best driver and tour guide we have ever met, very professional, caring and knowledgeable about local sceneries. We were so impressed that he is charge of two jobs, driving and gave us detailed descriptions all the way along to Milford Sound.Paul stopped at the amazing natural scenery spots to let us get photos taken. He is very experienced and passionate. We highly recommend book this trip.
We were lucky to see a real Kea, two swimming penguins.

I thought that the long bus trips would be boring and tiring, but I was very wrong. The views on the entire journey are consistently mesmerising. Our tour guide Paulie Potatoes was excellent - extremely passionate, knowledgeable, and energetic. He clearly loves his job and we enjoyed our trip because of him. We learnt plenty on the way about natural flora and fauna, with fascinating cultural history. An overall great trip that I’d do many times again.
