My husband and I had 2 days in Queenstown and we knew we had to go bungy jumping in the place it was created! I have a fear of heights so it was probably not the smartest decision on my end but let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it! We took a 20 minute bus ride from Queenstown to Kawarau Bridge where we met one of their employees who told us a bit about our schedule.
They do have paid lockers there however, you don’t really need them. There are baskets on the bridge where you can put your things and an employee is standing at that spot the entire time.
I think the best aspect of this experience are the employees on the bridge. They are laughing, joking with you, basically doing anything to keep your mind off of the fact that you’re about to jump off a bridge! I felt completely safe and secure while I was waiting to jump.
Overall, I would definitely recommend making this one of your adventures while you’re in Queenstown. Even if you have a fear of heights ;)

Amazing experience - Go here while the prices are cheaper! And ask for a water dunk - get the full experience while you are there!! This was my first bungy jump ever and I wanted to do it on "the original".

The staff are awesome and upbeat, and are very accomodating. I wanted the water dunk, which they executed perfectly. And then on my second jump (I loved it that much) - I asked for the pole drop where you hang from a pole and then let go!

Highly recommend.

If you want something that is equally beautiful and terrifying then you have to do this. It’s a picture perfect location, the staff are very friendly and there is nothing to match the terror when you shuffle to the edge to make your jump. My advice is not to hang around and just go! The feeling of euphoria when you are dragged back into the boat after the jump was sensational. Conquer your fear and do it. I was feeling pretty pleased with myself doing this at 50, but then got back to the centre to find a photograph of a lady doing it aged 91, full respect to her, I’m hoping to come back at 90 to do it all again!

Hey, when in Rome.... Had an absolutely amazing virgin bungy jump at the Hackett facility on the Kawarau. Think most people wonder what bungy is all about, and when you're in the birthplace of bungy, it's something you have to consider. Heights were never an issue for me. We started out on a day long winery tour, and stumbled upon the Hackett Center. Was thinking about it prior to going to the facility, and a Kiwi we were partying with the night before said it was great and a 'beginner' bungy jump. First the facility is phenomenal. It was an attraction in and of itself. Watched a few do the jump and then went up on bridge to see how they rigged you up. Satisfied it was safe, I made the decision to do it (and at 63, was the oldest person doing it that day). We left and did a couple of wineries (to make the wife happy), and on the return journey I proudly announced I was going to do it. While expensive, it was a phenomenal experience. The staff were great. The amenities superb and the whole vibe was just cool. Hardest part was the long walk up after the fall, er.. I mean jump. That and when you first tiptoe out to the edge of the ledge and look down. That's some scary sh*t! But all in all, a five star experience! Will I ever do it again? Hell NO! But I can scratch that one off the ole bucket list!

Really enjoyed doing my first ever bungee here, the setting is beautiful and the guys on the ledge at the top are very relaxed which helps with the nerves! Only criticism is that the music was crazy loud when the lady was giving us the briefing and when I told her I couldn’t hear I was told to ‘wait a minute!’. Not great. However otherwise an amazing experience - not as scary as I thought but so fun!
There’s also a beautiful walk from the bridge to Arrowtown which is about 8 miles that I highly recommend in order to make the most of your journey out there. Just follow the biking trail :)

As a must do in Queenstown I volunteered for this rip off exercise. For a fee of A$200 one gets a free T shirt and the short end (about 30 ft.) of the rope. I was hoping that at least my hair would get a little bit wet but at the end of the jump I was left dangling 10 ft. from the water, too high for the rescue boat to reach. Buying pictures for the non-event would cost another A$40 so the event was only memorable only for the high cost minus the fun.

The last time I did this was 10 years ago and the whole operation is just as slick if not slicker. They take all the hassle of the experience so you can fully concentrate on plunging yourself of a bridge into a raging torrent of the river below (well, it had just been raining). Very good experience on the whole!

Absolutely an incredible life changing experience...I am still buzzing a week later and want to go back!!! I had never really thought of doing a bungy until we booked a South Island Road Trip. From that moment I decided I wanted to push myself and I thought what better way then the original bungy. I turned up at the Kawarau Centre, not sure still if I would follow through with it. But after hanging out there and talking with the team, there was no way I couldn't do it! George and Jack (photo guy?) were incredibly encouraging, fun and supportive, I had to do it :) The bungy team made me feel safe and at ease and talked me through everything. So glad I did it, thank you for an incredible experience, not to be forgotten!! :)

The family also did the Zipride the day after and really enjoyed it. Tom and Andrew were fun, friendly and energetic and made it a really enjoyable experience :)

I was one of 8 that jumped and a whole lot of us also did the Zipline. We were a big dance group touring the whole of NZ. Right from day 1 when we starting booking we had impeccable service. they had invoiced us so everything was sorted before we even arrived. It made the whole process outstanding. Staff were fantastic and put us all at ease. SO much fun! We will be back.
