Getting up close and personal in Doubtful Sound
Absolutely amazing experience, kayaking in the gorgeous Doubtful Sound. Our wonderful tour guide, Ollie, made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable and tailored our day around us. He had lots of local knowledge and made the trip entertaining and enjoyable. Go Orange provides all the gear you need to kayak, and the boat trip and bus ride to get there are really enjoyable and scenic parts of the trip. Highly recommended - our teenagers said it was the best day of our holiday.

Incredible experience with a great guide
We were extremely lucky to have amazing calm, cloudy weather on our trip into doubtful sound. Malcolm, the bus driver on the way over Wilmot pass was great, sharing a lot of knowledge, some good humour and photo stops. We were on a day trip kayaking, and the scenery was ridiculously beautiful. Ollie, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and there was no question he couldn't answer. He was also really friendly and made the day so much fun. We were lucky to make good ground and experience the beauty and the silence of the sound. We would highly recommend this trip!

A perfect way to experience Doubtful Sound
We have recently returned from yet another professional and well organised kayak trip with Go Orange. This time, the one day, Kayak trip on Doubtful Sound. Even before the kayaking began, it was a great adventure, getting the boat across Lake Manapouri and taking the educational ride over Wilmot pass. Don’t be put off by the effort to get there. Doubtful Sound is an amazing place - remote, and pristine. It’s remoteness is what makes it all the more special. The scenery is just breathtaking, and kayaking on the sound is such a fabulous way to experience it. We were lucky to enjoy calm waters and a sighting of three Fiordland crested penguins. Thanks to Ollie for your professional guiding, education, humour and keeping us safe. Also, thanks again to Go Orange for helping to make this an unforgettable experience!

Best way to see Milford Sound
I was very lucky with the weather when I went on this tour, calm when we started (so could get used to steering the kayak and then apart from the last 30 minutes we had the wind at our backs. AJ our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable of both the wildlife and area. He also set a good pace for us and brought us to some great areas. We were fortunate that the conditions allowed us to get to all areas. I have to say the scenery was breathtaking and we also got to see some Fiordland penguins swimming near us early in the day, the water was flat calm at the time which helped make it real easy to spot them. Overall a fantastic experience

The Best Way to See Doubtful Sound
Go Orange really exceeded my expectations with this trip. They are so organized! You start with a ferry ride, followed by a bus ride to the kayak launch. They supply you with all the gear you need. Everyone gets matched up in small groups with an instructor (Brody was awesome!) who takes you out and shows you some of the prettiest parts of the sound. It's really so, so beautiful and peaceful. It's a great workout and you might be a little sore after, but totally worth it!

      Doubtful Sound overnight kayak
Trip was wonderful. Our guide, Finn, was incredible, funny, knowledgeable, and a joy to be around, thank you. Drybags were provided so made it easy to bring cameras, etc. The mosquitos/sandflies were the only negative. Once in a lifetime experience.

Fabulous overnight kayak trip in Doubtful Sound
Fabulous overnight trip in Doubtful Sound. Josh was a great trip guide, we paddled up to the end of Hall Arm and up to Fergusson Island, enjoying seeing multiple waterfalls and wildlife. The scenery is breathtaking and the Sound is very peaceful overnight. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone with an adventurous spirit.

      Incredible experience!
The overnight kayak trip in Doubtful Sound was my favorite experience from 5 weeks traveling in New Zealand. The fjord landscape is spectacular from start to finish, and it's great to be able to experience it close up, at your pace (mostly). Our guide Brodie did an awesome job making us feel safe and informing us about Fiordland throughout the trip. The only bad thing is the swarm of sandflies that you will meet on land (not while paddling), so bring repellent and willingness to endure some bites. The campsite has mosquito netting set up to create a common area for cooking and hanging out, which was greatly appreciated.

      Breathtaking, made simple
Excellent activity. Extremely well coordinated, organised and executed. Doubtful Sound was so beautiful, and to experience it from the tranquility of a kayak was really special. No prior experience necessary and excellent kit and equipment, everything required, was provided. Facilities to change, and leave change of clothing, all functional and more than adequate. I really enjoyed this, and would ( and already have) recommend to anyone. Our guide (Ollie) was superb.

Thanks Alex for an amazing day out kayaking - no better way to explore the fjords and we loved your knowledge of the area, laid back attitude and Maori legends :)

Great tour - breathtaking scenery, friendly guide and amazing weather!
This tour was one of the best things we did on our trip around the south island. It takes a while to get to Doubtful sound but the ferry and bus trip over was also enjoyable - we really loved the bus drivers commentary! Noah was a really great guide and took time to talk to all the people in the group individually. It is really refreshing to feel like your guide is actually interested in you, rather than just getting the job done, as often happens on other adventure tours we have been on. The kayaking was great and the views were even better! We were lucky to have nice sunny weather too. Thanks for a great trip Noah and Go Orange!

      Great trip!
My wife and me went on the Doubtful sound kayak trip and were simply amazed. While the trip to Doubtful Sound already takes a bit of time (cruise and coach trip) this part already is great! The captain of the boat and the coach driver provided a lot of interesting information while the views - especially on the coach ride - are stunning. But the highlight of the trip was of course the Kayaking itself in Doubtful Sound. Alex was our guide and he was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the area, fun and took care of the whole group kayaking with him. My wife and me are not the fastest kayakers but it was at all times simply a lot of fun and a nicely relaxed kayaking trip. Of course everyone also had the chance to paddle out faster to the front but mostly everyone was very relaxed. Alex took great care that the kayaking would be an awesome, relaxed and very enjoyable upclose experience at Doubtful Sound for everyone. Doubtful sound itself is great because there are much fewer boats and fewer kayakers than in Milford Sound. It really feels like a close encounter with nature in the fjord. Thanks Alex!

      Awesome trip
The tour was awesome. The first things worth seeing are accompanied by interesting information from the captain during the boat trip. Afterwards we continue in the bus where the bus driver tells a lot about the doubtfully sound, answers questions and slows down at cool places to get a good view. After a good briefing we will start kayaking. Already at the beginning you will have breathtaking views and at the same time a lot of fun while kayaking. Also the guide has a lot of very interesting information ready and takes care that everybody has a lot of fun on the tour. If you are lucky and your guide is Dillon, ask him about the 3 most important rules of kayaking.

We had a great time kayaking on Milford Sound. We have kayaked with Go Orange twice before and will continue to choose them for the professional and well organised way they run these trips. We got to get up close to Lady Bowen falls and to the foot of Mitre Peak. Lydia was fantastic. She kept the group of 8 together and safe. I thoroughly recommend this as a way to see the Sound from a different perspective. The second part of the trip was a cruise further down the Sound where we see some wildlife and yet more amazing waterfalls. This is one of the most beautiful parts of NZ and Go Orange certainly know the best way to let you experience it. Thanks Go Orange!

Weather wasn't great when we were there. So we decided not to do the 4 hour kayak, but the 2 hour and cruise instead. Great choice as we had great weather at the start which turned windy, cloudy and rainy towards the end of the kayak trip.
The kayak guides were informative and funny. We had a great time on the water.
You can buy some nice food on the cruise and enjoy the fjord both inside or outside.
