      Hop across the harbour.
Great little trip across the harbour from Port Chalmers. First boat ride for my daughter who loved it, then we looked around Portabello and got the bus back.. Rachel is very knowlegable and helpful.

Awesome Port to Port wildlife trip on the the Otago Harbour
I would highly recommend this trip to both locals and tourists Rachel’s extensive knowledge of the harbour wildlife , geography and history was clear in her commentary throughout the 2 hours . The boat is small which meant we could get up close to the bird life and seals but the highlight was getting to see two Hector Dolphins up close . We were a party of 6 …..4 locals and 2 Japanese friends . Rachel even had a wildlife identification sheet in Japanese and we all got to take a sheet home with the wildlife we had seen ticked on it . Thank you Rachel for a awesome trip .

      A wonderful wildlife trip
A fabulous afternoon out. Rachel and Ashley were great hosts and we were lucky enough to see 16 different animals and birds. The albatrosses’ aerial displays were entertaining and the sea lions didn’t disappoint.

      Great ferry
Great ferry trip- we did the cycle loop track and caught the ferry from Port Chalmers to Portobello. Lovely short ferry ride with very interesting commentary from the skipper. Bikes were loaded for us. Booking online was very easy. Saw a huge male sea lion swimming under the pier at Port Chalmers while waiting for the ferry.

      Portobello to Port Chalmers
It was very easy to book on line. Rachel was very friendly and accommodating. She provided a running commentary of all the points of interest on our trip across. Once we arrived at Port Chalmers she was very helpful in recommending a place to have a late lunch. Highly recommend it. 🍁

Port Chalmers to Portobello bike ride
Easily booked on line, punctual and super friendly. Rapt to see 2 ladies skillfully operating the water taxi. Those ebikes are very heavy and awkward to rack up😬 Great commentary thanks Rachel! Totally recommend. Thankful we vould take our wee pooch too as he was accompanying us on one of the bikes.

      Accommodating and Knowledgeable
Our tour with Rachel was amazing! She was incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable. We were able to see many of the wildlife in the Dunedin area and whenever we spotted another animal in the water she would try to get as close as possible. Highly recommend!

This is an awesome excursion for bird watchers and nature lovers!!!!!
Fantastic trip! Rachel was amazing at spotting and identifying the wildlife! Not only did we see Albatrosses flying remarkably close to the boat, plus viewing so many other birds, but we also saw sea lions and seals that were so camouflaged we'd never have found them on our own even with the binoculars provided. She also took us over for a close view of a seal popping up in the water and eating an octopus! Absolutely wonderful! We weren't lucky enough to see penguins and hadn't expected to this time of year. Just wish she'd think about charging more so she could have a smaller crowd to improve the view in the open part of the boat. Still, I highly recommend this excursion! A highlight of our trip to NZ.

      The friendliest ferry Skipper.
We arrived at the ferry after cycling out from Dunedin in pouring rain and a very cold southerly wind. We were greeted by Rachel, with a big smile, and immediately she offered us to come inside the cabin and warm up and get some of our wet clothing off to dry a bit. There were supposed to be two other riders booked but they never showed up, even though Rachel waited a few extra minutes for them. Rachel on-loaded our not so light e-bikes while we warmed up. Then it was off across the harbour to Portobello. Rachel's friendly but knowledgeable patter about the history of the two islands we passed and her directions to the nearest cafe in Portobello were very personable and much appreciated. We felt like good friends when we off-loaded 15 minutes later in Portobello.

Superb afternoon - one to remember
We joined Rachel on her tour today. Rachel is friendly and passionate about the wildlife and shared that knowledge with us throughout the tour. Moving around different areas of the harbour and surrounding area to hunt down and point out to us different birds and animals . Binoculars and information sheets provided (the later to take away). Thank you Rachel.

This was recommended to us and did not disappoint! The tour was rearranged due to bad weather but this was well communicated to us. The tour guide (Richard) was very knowledgeable and brilliant at spotting interesting wildlife and giving us time to see it. We saw three types of albatross, blue penguins, lots of NZ fur seals and lots of bird life. It was a real highlight of our holiday.

We had an excellent trip with Rachel who explained all sorts of interesting facts about the history of Otago and how it is linked to the sea, and we were delighted to see three different types of albatross close up and just floating on the sea, plus many seabirds, some seals and even a blue penguin swimming. Rachel’s boat was very comfortable with inside and outside seating and even a loo on board. We chose Port to Port because Rachel takes smaller numbers than some other cruises so we felt we would see more - we were not disappointed! No one can guarantee wildlife on a tour but we certainly saw plenty. Thank you for a great afternoon:)

What an exhilarating and informative trip Rachel took us on. To have a guide who had an incredible knowledge of the harbours inhabitants both people, animals and birds was a great pleasure.
It was a blustery day which showed Rachel to be as a highly skilled mariner. It also meant that the wind excited the bird life which was more plentiful and varied than if it was calmer.
Rachel showed her warmth and ability to connect with us as passengers and how comfortable she is with and is part of, this environment.

This 2 hour cruise was awesome. Water was flat but views were spectacular. Rachel was very knowledgeable and pointed out blue penguins, sea lions, fur seals, Ospreys and a spot where fish were literally jumping on top of the water and all the sea birds were catching them. Similar tours on the cruise ships are double the price. If in Dunedin, this is a must.

Just what we were hoping to find. A small group of 6. A passionate and knowledgable guide. Rachel is always faster than yourself and even anticipating what the animals will do next. She picked us up exactly at the time indicated. Very pleasant feeling to go with somebody who obviously knows what she is doing. Very precise and clear mailings before our trip.

We chose this tour with Port to Port and enjoyed every minute. Rachel really knows her stuff and doesn’t seem to need binoculars to spot things far in the distance! We saw more albatrosses and close to, than we saw at the albatross centre. There were only four of us on the boat, which was nice but I believe the boat will take up to 12. We also saw hundreds of different types of shag, fur seals, a penguin and loads of other birds. The two hours just flew by.

The trip was comfortable and the captain was informative. Rachel hande out a 4 color sjeet of all the wildlife life available..She manually checked off pics of what we actually saw. Going the extra mile was appreciated. The tour was about a 5 to 10 minute walk from Port Chalmers where our cruise ship Celebrity docked. Very convenient

We had a wonderful time on the boat on our 2 hour wildlife albatross harbour cruise. Despite the weather which was cloudy and only
around 15 degrees Celsius we felt comfortable on the boat. Rachel our captain told us a lot of interesting things about the coast and the wildlife here in Otago harbour. We saw a lot of birds like cormorants, shags, different gulls, three different kind of albatrosses directly flying across and above the boat and landing on the water close to the boat. We saw also fur seals In the water next to the boat playing around and sitting on the rocks. We can highly recommend this trip!
