It was Sunday in Dunedin and not much going on, so the brewery tour was a nice option. It was nice that the group was fairly small (about 16) and they managed it well. The young lady giving the tour was quite knowledgeable and interesting. We had plenty of time to sample the variety of beers. Nice way to spend a couple of hours.

I have been drinking Speights for the past five years, and so I've always wanted to go see the brewery. Let's just say that it did not disappoint. I would recommend coming here if you ever want to learn the history of the man James Speights and the brewery.

Informative tour guide, interesting history of the brewery and its founders, and the chance to see brewing technology up close.

Very accomodating and knowledgeable staff. We had an excellent time and learnt quite a bit. Would highly recommend 10+ We were in a group of four so the experience was even better as we had plenty of time for questions and answers. It’s a “must do” if you’re in Dunedin. Plenty of merchandise to purchase and the tasting at the end of your tour just tops off your visit perfectly. You definitely get your money’s worth. Mr and Mrs Cranstoun, Invercargill

We walked by and dropped in, cool series of buildings and a good shop and nearby bar. My son had previously gone on a tour and said drinks at the end for 30 minutes was great, but now it looks like covid has closed the tour experience for a while.

Very short tour, looking at historical equipment no longer in use. Best bit is the variety of beer you get to try at the end. Would not recommend to anyone, the price should be reduced and is not worth $30 pp

This was one of the best tours we'd been on, with our host Paul excellent and really made a difference. You get to find out about the history of Speight's and get a good look behind the old locations of the brewery. There are also plentiful tastings at the end which are tailored to your own preferences. No open shoes are allowed on the tour so make sure you don't wear your flip-flops/jandals and they also provide lockers for your bags as they're not allowed on the tour either. Highly recommend.

If you've seen one brewery, you've seen them all. Beer is made the same way everywhere. Tour does have some interesting historical displays, but you don't get to see any of the magic workings of the brewery and no bottling, as it's only barrels/kegs here and you don't get to see that. Tasting afterwards was nice - they have quite a variety of brews you can sample. Dinner was very good - entre, main and another brew from the brewery.

Outstanding tour and sampling of the beer. Would highly recommend this tour as it is very informative and nothing is too much trouble for the extremely knowledgeable staff. Well done Speights ( you know who you are !!!).

One of my most favourite brewery tours. Very interesting history and lots to look at. With a knowledgeable and engaging tour guide and a very generous beer tasting.

Dunedin is much spoiled over recent years, and when you have seen things so much better, this is disappointing. However, Speights Brewery has escaped the ravages of those who think they know best. The most damage they have thus far inflicted on the Brewery is to erect an alcohol ban immediately outside it. It's almost humorous. You taste and drink inside and they can't stop that. The Brewery tour is a fascinating story through history and Speight's is still a successful company. You are taken through the history and the process. Then you are allowed to try all the tinctures that are produced there. It was a lovely conclusion to a day of visiting 8 other sites that were either shut or ruined. It's always nice to finish a bad day on a nice note.

Well I love beer with a generous tasting experience paired with an informative historical tour what's not to like right

Mitch was a fantastic guide, the detail and humour were fantastic. Plus the beers and amount of tasters provided was the best I’ve had from a brewery tour. Brilliant.

All round, very informative tour. Enjoyed tasting the different beers at the end. My daughter and son in law from Ireland enjoyed it too.
