Great informative tour with beautiful sceneries & a wonderful tour guide!
I had such a wonderful time on this tour! I was super lucky enough to get the chance to be the only one on the tour on this particular day, so it was great to be able to take our time a little and ask all the questions I needed to ask. Russ was so friendly and has so much knowledge that he was able to share with me. I learnt so much on this tour, and have already told my husband that we have to go back and do a full-day tour with Russ! I had limited time in Dunedin, so this tour was exactly what I needed in order to see everything I wanted in such a short period of time. It didn't feel rushed either! Super happy. Thanks again, Russ! You're a legend!

        Beautiful Dunedin
Our driver/tour guide, Jeff, was excellent. He packed so much into the tour taking us to the prettiest parts of a very pretty city in Dunedin. Jeff explained the history of the various places we visited from the dormant whale trading through the Edinburgh like university and the glorious historic train station culminating with ninety minutes at the castle. The bus was perfect for our tour size, Jeff's banter and dry Kiwi humour along with both his deep knowledge and pride in the area made this a great event for us. You cover a lot in Dunedin in the time available and Jeff ensures you are back at the port well before departure.

Great tour, lots to see, Russ was a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended!!!
We booked this tour while on a NZ Cruise with Princess Cruises, but booked this tour directly through the website and email rather than through the cruise ship. This was a great overall tour of Lanarch Castle and Dunedin city highlights. Russ was a pleasure to deal with from the very first email and discussion right through to the end of the tour. It was a very well organised small group (around 10 I think) with lots to see and do including the railway station, Lanarch Castle, Baldwin Street, University, Signal Hill and a number of lookouts overlooking Dunedin and the waterways. Russ was very informative offering great information throughout the tour and always happy to answer any questions. Only thing I would suggest is to make the decision early whether or not you want to tour inside Lanarch Castle or not. We decided to have some lunch then had to whisk around the inside of the castle with not a lot of extra time to look around the gardens. The time was a little limited at Lanarch to do inside castle, gardens and stop for lunch as well, because there was so much other stuff to see and do on the tour. Otherwise, the tour was jam packed with sites and things to see and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming into Port Chalmers/Dunedin as it gives you a great overall knowledge of the area. Excellent job Russ, very professional and keep up the great work.

Perfect overview of this Fabulous “Edinburgh of the South”!
This was such a great overview of the city and the Otago Peninsula! Our guide, Russ, kept us so engaged and interested in so many of the things and places that make Dunedin such a great place to visit! We saw so much and some we went back to visit! Loved his suggestions on other things to do and see while we ate here! This was just the 3 hour tour, the longer tour would be fantastic! Thanks Russ!!

Must Do Dunedin Tour by Tourworks NZ
Fabulous tour and Russ was a terrific guide. He was very knowledgeable about local history and a great driver. Easy pick up from our cruise ship at the port and a comfortable mini bus for the 6 people we had on the tour. Lots of stories about Dunedin's history, with some told from his unique perspective having grown up and lived there for many years. Weather was a bit drizzly on the day but Russ was well prepared with umbrellas availble for us to use. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Dunedin, I feel it was much better value than our ship's offered shore excursions.

We recently took a cruise to New Zealand stopping at several ports, Dunedin being our first. We are so glad we decided to go with a smaller more personalized tour over the larger buses the cruise lines recommend. Russ our tour guide was easy to spot within the terminal and once we introduced ourselves we were on our way. Russ has vast amount of knowledge he shares along journey making it both interesting and enjoyable. Thanks again Russ for making the tour a memorable one.

Brilliant half day tour with very knowledgeable tour guide
This was a top class excursion with Russ our tour guide and driver. We were in a small minibus which was very comfortable and meant that when we got out at various stops it was quick and easy to get off and on. Russ was born in Dunedin and therefore had some great insights and knowledge of the local area. A thoroughly recommended tour and a great way to see and hear about Dunedin

        First class trip experience.
Russ was a very knowledgable and experienced tour operator who, being a Dunedin local, took us to the most important sites and conveyed brilliant commentary throughout the 3 hour tour. A full value for money tour at a leisurely pace and in comfortable surrounds. Highly recommended.

Beautiful trip around Dunedin and Great Guide
Great tour of Dunedin and surrounding areas. Russ coordinated an afternoon tour because our ship arrived later than planned. Tour of the Worlds Steepest Street, University, Train Station and the beautiful surrounding areas. Wonderful tour and local guide. Russ is a lifelong resident of the area and knew so much about the area.

This was such a great tour. Russ picked us up in the cruise terminal and we made so many stops along the way. Russ was full of information and being in a mini bus we were able to go to some places where big buses couldn't go and it also made it a more personal experience. We had 8 people in our group and another couple joined us. We saw so much of Dunedin, all the highlights plus more. Would highly recommend this activity.

We took a tour of Dunedin on 8-Jan-2023 during our 12-night Celebrity cruise. We visited the world's steepest street, a penguin refuge where we saw penguins and sea lions, New Zealand's only castle, and drove around the peninsula. It was a beautiful, but incredibly windy, day. Highly recommend!

We stopped in Dunedin while on our cruise, but with only one day to look around, we decided to come back to Dunedin and visit the Otago Peninsula. As another reviewer said, Les, our driver/guide, was the best. He picked us up promptly at our hotel and showed us around. It was kind of cold and windy and rained some early on, but by the time we got to Larnach Castle, it was starting to clear up. Then we went to Penguin Place and that was truly special, especially seeing how well cared for the penguins were at the hospital and how the staff tries to provide nice nesting areas for the yellow-eyed penguins and blue penguins. We also saw seals. Then at the Albatross Center, we saw 4 albatross flying through the sky. It was really special. We highly recommend the small group tour.

My friend Sean and I had the luck of having Les as our personal tour guide for the day. He was so full of information and perspective about Dunedin and really brought things to life.

I loved the combination of getting to see all of the key city sites, Larnach Castle as well as peninsula wildlife. Penguin Place was one of the more memorable things I’ve ever seen on a trip.

Tourworks provided top notch service during our recent cruise to New Zealand. With just a few days notice our cruise itinerary was changed due to unfavourable weather, meaning our day in Dunedin was moved to another date. Quick email to tourworks, and there was no issue at all.

Our guide for the day, the fantastic and very knowledgeable Les met us at the cruise terminal, and was more than accommodating and friendly.

Our tour first took us to a lookout in Port Chalmers to truly admire the size of the Ovation of the Seas in Port Chalmers. We then headed onto Baldwin Street where we had time to walk to the top of the street (which will leave you breathless - literally). Other stops then included the Dunedin train station, Royal Albatross observatory, Larnarch Castle, and the highlight - the yellow eye penguin conservation centre.

For the full day Les had tiny tid-bits of local knowledge to share - including which stop would have the better coffee!

There was no need to stress about time ashore, as Tourworks knew the ships schedule and made sure we were back with plenty of time to spare. I would definitely recommend them to friends.
