        Great shore excursion
Had a great small group tour with Chris our tour leader from Back to Nature Tours. We had a quick drive thru Dunedin with short stops at the world’s steepest street snd Railroad station. We were provided with great commentary and history of Dunedin and the Otago peninsula. Chris was very friendly, knowledgeable and quite skilled at driving the steep and narrow roadways and the mini bus was quite comfortable to ride in. Our favorite stop was at Allans Beach which was quite picturesque and we were treated to an up close and personal view of multiple sea lions resting on the beach. Would definitely recommend using Back to Nature tours when visiting Dunedin area.

Great value and vistas of Dunedin and Otago
Booked through Shore Excursions Group. Great communication, Chris was on time and very respectful. Went out of his way to help. Excellent subject knowledge and very informative. Great package for time highlights were beach visit and up close with fur seals on the beach. If you want great vistas of Dunedin and Otago Peninsula then you wont be disappointed. For us oldies there was a well timed bathroom stop and the nice thing was the trip was not hurried and we covered a lot of ground. Thanks Chris.

        Great tour, marvellous view
We had fantastic weather. The view was marvellous, our guide was great. Small team , no rush. We took beautiful photos. Unfortunately we could not see many seals when we were at the shore.

This tour is simply amazing. Dunedin is a gorgeous little place and well worth a visit. Rachel was very informative and went out of her way to ensure we seen all the marine mammals.

Beautiful scenery and cool sea lions
This was a great tour. We enjoyed seeing the sea lions in their native habitat, and the drive through the countryside was beautiful. The beach where we saw the sea lions was deserted except for us and that was nice. We had a good guide. I'm only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the visit to the "steepest street in the world" and the iconic train station were rushed. The view of Baldwin St was from more than a block away and we were very strictly warned that there was NOT time to actually go there. Photos of the homes on this street look cool and I would have liked to have seen it; one reason I booked this tour. It shouldn't be hard to add 10-15 minutes more to the tour and do this, since it is listed as an attraction. Otherwise a beautiful day and scenic drive.

Get a great sampling of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula on this fun Back to Nature Tour.
The tour guide, Chris, was informative, knowledgeable, energetic, considerate, and provided an outstanding tour. There were many sights to see sprinkled with info of some of the culture of the area. A highlight was the walk to the beach and encountering a sea lion bull. We saw a female sea lion with a pup, but from a distance. We concluded the tour with a stop at the steepest road in the world, as noted in Guinness World Book of Records.

        Sea Lions on the beach.
Chris picked us up from the ship in a minivan. Just the right number of people to do a small group excursion around Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula. We visited the old station, admired the buildings and wondered at the beautiful stained-glass windows and mosaic decorations on the floor. We saw beautiful old buildings and marveled at the steepest street in the world. We then travelled out of the city to look at farmland and enjoy views of the Otago Peninsula. Chris kept us entertained with his very knowledgeable commentary as we travelled. We looked forward to a walk on a beach and were not disappointed. We looked for sea-lions and saw a couple of mothers with pups in the distance. On the path to the beach, we were surprised to see a huge male sea lion snoozing in the middle of the walkway. He blocked the entire path and was fast asleep. We quietly climbed onto the grass bank and tip-toed past him, hoping he would not wake up. We were lucky to see a sea lion at such close quarters! On the beach we saw a couple more big sea lions and a youngster settling into a sheltered spot for a nap. Chris was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

Great overview of Dunedin and environs
This was a small group tour (bus only takes 15 passengers) from our cruise ship port (Port Chalmers) and covered some really interesting areas of Dunedin, from the city and railway station out to bird colonies and a beach where there were seals (sea lions?). The guide (sorry, I can't recall his name) was most helpful and explained the history and geography well. Be aware that if you do the beach part on your tour, there is a reasonably high stile you have to climb over and about a 500 m gentle walk. You should have good walking shoes/sandals for walking in the soft sand of the dunes (the beach itself is quite hard), or remove your shoes at the beginning of the sand section and put them on after you've finished with the beach/dunes. Watch out for rabbit holes and tree roots along the walking trail too.

Chris picked us up from the ship in a minibus. As he’s lived in Dunedin for a number of years he was very knowledgeable about the area. We went to see the sea lions on a lovely beach, saw stunning scenery and went to the old station and the steepest street. Chris lived in Scotland before NZ so told us of a great pub (The Duke of Wellington) that sold loads of UK ales-great tip thanks Chris 👍🏻 Lovely trip would definitely recommend.

Really lucky with the weather which helped. Great summary of the area, sites and history. The beach part was amazing, and we were lucky enough to see Sea Lions lazing on Allen’s Beach. Chris was very knowledgeable about all the wildlife too. Have to say it was the easiest port collection from the cruise. You’re pointed to a trip area, and your excursion is on a “departures board”, so you know you’re in the right place. Free wifi at the port too!

The tour we took was called "Bays, Beaches and Views" and it was outstanding.
Our guide was great and showed us all the sights around Dunedin, but the highlight of the trip was some beautiful secluded beached out on the peninsula. One was home to a number of sea lions, which were amazing to watch.
I'd highly recommend any small tour with 'Back to Nature Tours'.

Glen, was an excellent tour guide. The itinerary gave us a quick overview of the area....the city, especially the beautiful railway station and stunning coastline, including fur seals.
A level 2 walk along sandy bush track to see the fur seals could be challenging for some.

The tour was very well organised and everything went smoothly from pick up to drop off. The visit to the ornate railway station in town and the drive out of Dunedin were the best parts of this( the lush countryside was particularly beautiful, even in the rain). Would use this company again.

Our Tour Guide Ross I think his name was, was very informative & did a great commentary. Took us to so many of Dunedins' highlights including the steepest road. I enjoyed the lush green countryside with so many sheep grazing on steep hillsides. Of particular interest to me was the Railway Station, it was so fascinating with a set back in time feel. The city is very clean with beautiful parks & gardens.
