- Petros A0 contributionsAn expert private wine tour in WaiparaMassive thanks to Giles to providing a great private wine tour in waipara. Amazingly informative on the geography on the region with a stunning understanding of the vineyards and their wines. No question went unanswered- his knowledge was exceptional. Not only were the wines delicious but the lunch was too. Had not realised the depth and breadth of wine varietals planted in the area beyond Sauvignon blanc and pinot noir so for me was really interesting and fascinating. Giles could not have been a more wonderful guide/host from the beginning of booking our tour to keeping us informed tight up to the tour departure. On time and very friendly we continued on this amazing day with invaluable local knowledge especially with the wine knowledge. The tour delivered above expectations and there was an abundance of wine tastings. Lunch was superb in the form of a ploughman splatter which had locally cured meats breads and cheeses. This tour was wonderful and I would recommend for anyone to chose this tour

I had the privilege to enjoy two separate wine tours with Giles, one week apart. Giles was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. Would highly recommend Giles Tours to anyone looking for a fun day out at some of the best wineries Waipara has to offer.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!
So appreciative to go on a wine tour with someone who not only has an abundance of knowledge about the local region but wine overall! The tour is well crafted and set out to take in the best of the region and local fare.
Giles is not only a pleasure to converse with but is also super friendly. I highly recommend going on this tour and I know that anyone taking up this experience won't be disappointed.
Thanks again Giles. We had a great day!

I booked this tour over the new from uk and Giles was every bit as good as I hoped. Myself, husband and 4 friends toured with Giles and sampled so many wines that we apwere all tipsy when we returned to our cruise ship. Giles had chosen 4 extremely good wineries and the tour was faultless. I don’t usually talk money but the cruise ship tour ( almost identical) was more than 3 times the price of booking with Giles. So be adventurous and book a private tour with Giles. Pick up and drop off are absolutely spot on and Giles was an excellent email communicator and will answer all your questions. Don’t hesitate book a wine tour with Giles

This was my second wine tour with Giles. I enjoyed the first one so much I organised another group recently. Again it was well run with a very knowledgeable host. All vineyards we visited offered high quality wines for us to sample (and purchase). Lunch was a wonderful selection of foods at a beautiful sheltered outdoor setting. Giles provides a comfortable vehicle and provides commentary on the various features relating to wine growing as we travelled between the vineyards. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys their wine and who wants to be educated into the various varieties that feature in North Canterbury. It was an enjoyable days outing.

Giles is an excellent guide for this wine tour. He is extremely knowledgeable about wine, in general, and about the wines crafted in Waipara. He added much value to our visit to the area and chose some great stops for us showcasing the wine. Lovely platter to accompany our wine tasting over lunch.
Giles only hosts small groups - we were four and had an exclusive tour for us and his max is 6. This makes it very personal and Giles was attentive to our needs.
Excellent trip. I would definitely recommend.

A truly lovely day. We were a group of 4 friends ranging in age from 44 to 84, we were 2 Australians and 2 Americans. The day was very well paced and enjoyable for all of us. Communication leading up to the tour was really good. We were on a cruise ship that docked at Lyttleton. Giles sent good information about the shuttle to catch, where to meet and the time to meet. Our ship ended up departing 30 minutes earlier then what was planned when we booked. Giles made sure we kept to time and we were back to the shuttle in plenty of time. The vineyards we visited were all really lovely. I very much appreciated that these were family owned and operated vineyards with superbly good wines! (Like really really good). Giles knows his stuff when it comes to wine and he answered all of our questions about the region and the wines.
To be honest I was a little apprehensive about booking an independent tour to the cruise. I need not have worried. You will not regret this tour.

First stop was at Pegasus Bay with 16 tastings (on our tour at least, whaaattt). Wine was delicious and beautiful location. Then we headed to Greystone for some more delicious vino, Torlesse for a tasty platter and incredible wine (including their famous port and Cassis liqueur). Last stop was at Terrace Edge for MORE wine (kind of the point) and some delicious local bread and olive oil. All of the wine was incredible, the winery owners lovely and passionate people and (most importantly) Giles is an incredible host. There were some other people on tours around us that seemed to be just left to it but Giles gave superb care of our group and shared some really interesting stories about the area without turning it into a complete history tour haha. Absolutely recommend!
