This place is amazing! So many different levels catering for the younger or more cautious, to the extreme thrill seeker. Lots of challenges and fun had by the kids (big & small).
The staff took their time explaining the harness system & made sure everyone knew what to do. They were around on the ground keeping an eye out which was reassuring.
We will be back!

My partner and I (27 and 28 years old) went there for the afternoon. Amazning set up. Quick tutorial at beginning as you do the whole course by clipping yourself onto the wires. About 8 levels. They progressively got more challenging and higher. Mixture of obstacles and zip wires. At some points you are terrifyingly high on a little platform. Then you would zip wire for 50m to another tree in the canopy. All were so much fun. Spent about 4 hours there with not one other person there. Very lucky. Staff were so friendly. 100% worth it

Had a great time with the family here. It's an awesome set up with some great challenges. It was a bit scary for mum but myself and the teens had a ball. Highly recommended if you want to challenge yourself. Great exercise, too!

On a short visit to Christchurch this was our daughter’s pick as a must-do activity. We left with a lot more still to achieve so will return next time we are back in NZ.

Winter hours open at 11am and we timed it well to just miss a large school group finishing.
We thought entry fees were reasonable at $42 adult and $27 child (whole course).

We were issued safety harnesses and gloves before Levi provided instruction on technique, safety and observed our practice runs.

To see how our 8yr old daughter would cope we started on level 1 and she happily completed level 2 before running out of time (and energy).

The courses will challenge not only your confidence with heights but also test your physical strength.

If you cannot complete any task you will be “rescued” from that course and your day is done. Also, once completed, a course cannot be repeated.

On a cold mid-week winters day, we had no one pushing us from behind and it allowed our daughter to continue at her pace and build confidence, with Levi advising and encouraging her to push her limits – on a busy day that might not be the case.

The course consists of – the course and nothing else. There are a couple of picnic tables to rest at between courses. There are no toilets on-site – the closest are a few minutes walk away across the road at Spencer park.

Take snacks and water with you to keep energy levels up and plan to have some food waiting when you are finished – particularly with kids.

As far as safety goes – you are securely harnessed at all times. Some reviewers complain about no helmets. Sorry – helmets are available on request so if you choose not to wear one – don’t blame the company. Also, this is a confidence course – not a nursery, take some personal responsibility and accept that to achieve personal growth there may be some pain – stop being so precious, you’re climbing trees for goodness sake.

I rocked up to Adrenalin Forest after some friends had told me of the great time they had there. They insisted that it was a fabulous experience and they had so much fun that they were going to go back again. Rather intrepidly I decided to join them. The staff were friendly, relaxed and headed up by a French man who was rather charming. After we were given the briefing and harnessed, we headed for the first of four different pathways. I aced the first pathway without too much trouble, negotiated the second with a little bit of intrepidation and decided that because I had successfully completed those two and my confidence level had now increased, I could manage the next two. Well I struggled through some of the bridges on the third. I didn't much care for the moving ropes bridge or the skateboard bridge which took off on me but I got there in the end feeling really good that I had completed and not so good at being the butt of several jokes of my friends who all happened to look my way when I got my foot tangled in the rope on the tarzan jump. I absolutely loved the last pathway which is named after the park - Adrenalin. And man! Did it ever get my adrenalin pumping especially when I was up 17 metres in the trees - doing a wonderful impersonation of a proboscus monkey! The highlight, apart from actually completing the course, is the flying foxes which is the mode of transportation at the end of each pathway that brings you back to the ground. My friends had not told the truth. This was not just a fun thing to do - it was simply the very best fun that I have ever had (with my clothes on) in my life.

Highly recommend this as a MUST DO if and when you ever visit Christchurch.

On the 27th Dec we arrived at the adrenalin forest at 9.50am only to be greeted by a bit of a grumpy eastern European telling us ‘we are closed’. We had pre booked our session for the first track at 10.00am as we had heard to get there early as it gets busier in the afternoon. Which is True. Shortly after, a Kiwi arrived who had a far better attitude and let us get on with our day.

Onto the course – I would recommend doing the Second, Third, Fifth and Sixth Course in that order unless you are extremely fit, as we did the first 3 within an hour as they are quite easy and get you warmed up, however the 4th is VERY long and took us 45mins after which we were starting to lose the will to live and the course was becoming less enjoyable, We continued onto the 5th as we wanted to complete the entire course however half way round with no way of stopping or going back we doubted whether we would complete number 6. We did. Not sure it was worth it. The Adrenalin Max Jump was the only thing that was any different from the other courses and we wished we had missed 4 and done 6 as we believe we would have enjoyed 6 more if we had.

Overall we had a great day out, it was good value for money but BEWARE the course is well out of Christchurch and the $10 pick up/ drop off is not available. This may be down to the eastern European who when we asked could we have a drop off into Christchurch said simply “Not Really” and gave us no other information of how to get back, which left us stranded miles out of Christchurch on a Bank holiday Monday.

P.s They have no drinks or snacks available on a 3hour physically challenging course so take your own!

This obstacle course was fun. We were able to complete several runs before being completely exhausted. We did 4, 5 and 5B I believe. There were some zip lines were you end up smacking into the tree or padding, but I guess that's part of the fun.

Now using the latest safety equipment, you cannot accidentally unclip yourself, so you can really challenge your inner fear factor in near tree top heights up to and exceeding 20 meters. The screams of joyful fear is inspiring to push yourself, while knowing you are truly safe, in a true natural forest setting. A gem of adventure height obstacle courses. Suitable for all ages and all fitness levels, thought the less fit may elect not to exceed the easier obstacles courses # 1 + 2, whereas the adventurous may aim to do course # 5 + 6 first to make sure they have full energy for the hardest courses, coz you will run out of steam eventually ....

We had the pleasure of visiting Adrenalin Forest in both the Christchurch and Tauranga locations while cruising New Zealand. I love outdoor sports and hiking – and I enjoyed doing this so much in Christchurch that I went and visited another location in Tauranga. They use an innovative safety system that allows the user to clip in to a system of safety lines throughout the various obstacle ropes courses.

Although it’s tough and not for the out of shape, I never felt unsafe – as the system is relatively dummy proof. The challenges include ropes, climbing, stairs, fast foxes (think zip-line), bridges, etc. They get progressively harder but most of it is mental (my opinion anyway). This is a great thing for kids and there were many adults (myself included) enjoying the different courses.

We ran out of time and I was only able to complete up to level 4 but I hope to one day return to the Adrenalin Forest and make it through to round six one day. I’m in my 40’s in decent shape and had no trouble with the course.

Tip – stay away from this place on a weekend – if it gets packed with children, it’s difficult to get past them if one of them gets scared and is unable to continue, etc. In Tauranga, we had a bus come in on a Saturday with 60 teenage boys and knew it was time to leave before they took over the place. Highly recommended if you are someone who likes a thrill and is in reasonably good physical condition.

When I asked my family what was their top three favorite things from our three week holiday, everyone included Adrenaline Forest in their list! They spoke of freedom, fear, trust and adrenaline when asked to describe their day. My sister-in-law, a normally tough twenty year old, at one point asked for her mum! My two children (11 & 12) raved about it for days and wished we could have stayed longer in Spencer Beach so they could have another attempt to finish the course. They all commented on how nice the staff were.
