      Great day ride
Very good ride - we did it on E-bikes, but others did it on standard bikes. Great picnic spots along the way. Main track is in very good condition.

NZ Remutaka Track is indeed a Great Ride with the support of Wildfinder
Returning to travel after Covid, we wanted to stay longer and go slower so New Zealand’s Remutaka cycle tour organized by Wildfinder was perfect. Our primary contact for the 4 days was Isaac and he organized a self-guided biking itinerary that emphasized local communities, history, nature, great food and of course, a daily dose of cycling through varied terrain. The Remutaka track flows between places that are not over-touristed and my husband and I, with the help of the attentive service of Wildfinder, enjoyed an authentic experience in a beautiful region of NZ. Thank you, Isaac, for our excellent bikes, wonderful accommodations and clear communication from start to finish!

One of the best days out in 2 years in New Zealand.
We had an absolutely brilliant day out on the Remutaka Cycle Trail Highlights Tour, courtesy of Wildfinder. Despite booking quite last minute, the customer service that we received from the team was fantastic, and they were extremely accommodating of a couple of specific requests that we made. A big thanks to Alex in the office, and to Sarah on the road, who was a wonderfully knowledgeable and caring tour guide and driver. In terms of the trip itself, we were so glad that we booked the Highlights Tour over other options. You do both the easy-riding 18km Remutaka Incline track along an old railway line with beautiful forests and sweeping views, and then shuttle down along Lake Wairarapa to begin the Wild Coast track, 19km of stunning rugged coastline and more technical (occasionally unrideable) terrain. Both are awesome. Athough this tour is relatively expensive, you get what you pay for, and the value of getting to do two very different sections of the Remutaka Cycle Trail (as well as the fully inclusive travel, lunch/snack, and bike and equipment hire) was totally worth it.

      3 very different, fabulous days
3 fantastic days cycling - all extremely different. Loved every minute, even when I was battling a head wind around Pencarrow Point or bouncing my way down a narrow path in the Rimutakas. This is a must do cycle trail in New Zealand and I highly recommend it. Not too difficult and there is always an e-bike option for those that don't want the hills. I finished by continuing into Featherston and enjoyed the Wairarapa countryside.

Four days; all different; all terrific
I think this is the right category.........we did the four day trip from Days Bay on the Trail, ending back in Days Bay & including a night in Martinborough & then the Wild Coast. Each days riding was different but all exciting in their own way & varying from pretty straightforward to very challenging. Overall a fantastic experience with terrific logistical support from the team who arranged accommodations, meals & kept track of us all along the trip. Their guidance & maps were spot on & we felt well cared for even though we were on our own for the actual riding. A splendid experience though the Wild Coast is not for the faint of heart.

A Fun Trip First time with E-Bikes
We are not really bike riders but hired the e-bikes & completed the ride starting & finishing at Days Bay via the Remutaka Cycle Trail & the coast. The bikes were great & came with a good map and friendly instruction from Dave on how to ride them. Am still smiling when I think of the trip, scenery & the fun of riding up that big hill with so little effort. Thanks Dave & Team

      Excellent service support & attitude
Dave couldn’t have been more available and easy to deal with leading up to and during this amazing trip. No request or change was any problem at all. Three of the more unfit members of our group of 8 hired e-bikes and are complete converts. Dave’s wife Alice dropped the e-bikes at Kaitoke. She had their baby son in the van but was very patient and cheerful unloading and explaining operation of bikes to e-bike newbies. We loved staying at Waiorongomai which was clean and comfortable. Thanks so much for the extras Dave - they were so greatly appreciated. And especial big thanks for the very flexible and early pick-up of bikes on the way back. I didn’t write a review on our last trip but it was just as amazing as this one in every way. Thanks again Dave and Alice for going way beyond to make this trip so perfect.

An epic trip on the Remutaka Cycle Trail! Thanks Cycle Remutaka!
My mum and I recently completed the 3 day trip on the Remutaka Cycle Trail - starting at Days Bay and finishing at Orongorongo. Dave from Cycle Remutaka was great to deal with and was really helpful in suggesting accommodation on the route and arranging a shuttle to pick us up from Orongorongo, something we requested whilst on the track as windy conditions prevented us from completing the full loop back to Days Bay. My mum was on an e-bike and me on a regular mountain bike. Both bikes were in great condition! I would definitely recommend Cycle Remutaka to anyone keen on doing the trail or even sections of it!

      Great, friendly and flexible service!
We hired bikes for the Rimutaka Cycle Trail rather than booking a tour, but the team could not have been more helpful from start to finish. From a sudden decision by one of the group to use an E-bike to a custom drop-off, right through to last-minute decision to finish at Orongaronga rather than push on to Day's bay. Bike were great - both E-bike and standard - all set-up for us with pannier bags that could hold the stuff we needed for two days on the trail, including lights for the tunnel. We did 72km day one, from Petone Wharf; nicer and cruisey along the lower part of Hutt RIver, and a bit more challenging on the top part to Maymorn, but the upper Hutt Valley is well worth a look. As a local, its showed me another side of where I live. The road stretches are very quiet - usually. There was an event on at the go-kart circuit with meant lots of parked cars, but that was pretty unusual. The rail-trial section is great - the climb from the Hutt side is not too challenging even for occasional cyclists, but the guy on the e-bike had no trouble. The downhill from the Summit Station is a bit steeper and bumpier, but not much that you can't roll down comfortably. After Cross Creek the track is narrow and bit more technical, but again, no strong skills needed. Day has an easy 20k along the roads, and then a more challenging 18k round the wild coast. There's parts where we got off the bikes - not for more than 50 metres or so at a time. Good mountain bikers won't have an issue (we were not in that category!) We were luck to see a big pod of dolphins playing in the bay. The wind can rattle out of some of the valleys and the last 2-3km for us were getting a bit tough, so we called it a day at the Orongaronga Carpark. Dave came out to pick us up, which was great! All in all a great trip, with the Cycle Rimutaka team's service being a big part of what made it great.

      All inclusive Remutuka circuit
This was a fully organised adventure through a variety of wonderful landscapes and cycle trail type. Some parts more challenging but all wonderful. we chose e bikes and were glad we did. Meant, getting through coastal sand and gravel patches, up to Pencarrow lighthouse and the last day into a head wind, were not only possible but enjoyable. The accommodation hosts and food were all excellent. Would definitely do it again!

We did a 3 day hire starting and finishing at Petone Wharf, including a day in Martinborough. We organised the trip from the UK and Dave patiently answered all of my questions politely and promptly. He met us at the agreed time and place. The bikes and kit were as he described. The ride was really interesting and we benefitted from brilliant weather. Dave then picked the bikes up from our accommodation in Petone. I had every confidence that if we had got stuck Dave would have bailed us out. Superb service! Many thanks Dave.

We started our trip from Petone and was greeted by Alex who set us up with our bikes and maps/instructions for the first day of cycling. Our bags were taken and delivered to our first accommodation which was great to not have the weight on our backs! On the second day we switched to e-bikes and Dave was really kind and accommodating, arranging for the e-bikes to be switched at the beginning of the Remutaka trail. The ride through Remutaka was amazing, even though it was a bit wet - still so much fun! On the 3rd/last day we were collected by Alex again from Orongorongo, went by the bike shed to collect our bags/drop off the bikes and then she kindly took us back home which was so very much appreciated on a wet day when we were pretty tired! Thanks so much to Alex, Dave and the team for everything, we absolutely loved cycling this trail and all our interactions with Cycle Remutaka from beginning to end was amazing. I highly recommend a trip with them.

The bikes we hired were excellent.
The accomodation was top notch, with great meals .
We really loved the varied scenery and the remoteness of the coastline.
Weather perfect, which was an added bonus.
    Thanks Dave

We recently completed the 3 day cycle trail leaving from Days Bay with the intention of doing the full circuit and finishing at Days Bay as well. Unfortunately the 'wild coast' part of the trail was exactly that... wild, windy and rugged. We toughed it out until Orongorongo and then called Dave for an early pick up back to Days Bay. Dave was super friendly and very helpful with great knowledge about the area and the track itself. I had ongoing problems with my hired bike which he tried to remedy and then replaced without an issue.
If you require a company to organise your trail experience then I wouldn't hesitate recommending Dave and his team.

Thanks for the great review! Glad we were able to help you guys out, the trail around the Wild Coast can be difficult at times so we're always happy to pick up at Orongorongo if need be :) Well done for toughing it out through the conditions, hope you had a great time :)

Had a challenging but great 3 days cycling the Rimutaka trail. Spectacular scenery and interesting sites along the way. No major hill climbs, mostly flat and steady. You don't need to be an Olympic cyclist to do it - we saw a group of older people - one being 80 years old on the trail at the summit. Dave was super helpful in sorting us out with bikes, gear and recommendations on accomodation etc. Highly recommend.

Couldn't recommend Dave and Everyone's Adventure more highly. We did the Cycle Rimutaka Highlights package and were absolutely thrilled. Dave made everything so easy and enjoyable -- from door-to-door shuttle service, high-quality equipment and fitting, trail guidance, great snacks and extra water, and just all-around helpfulness and friendliness.

We also learned about how Dave has shaped his company (Everyone's Adventure) to be a socially conscious one that focuses on making outdoor adventures accessible to people in the local community. It's an inspiring mission that made us even happier we went with Dave.

My husband and I recently did the trail starting in Cross Creek and ending at Brewtown - the opposite direction (called ‘reverse’) up the Fell Incline and adding on the Hutt River Trail. It was a very windy day (at one point, I was blown off my bike), but otherwise sunny. We went midweek, so the trails and Brewtown were quieter than we expect they are at weekends, but still friendly folks around.

Pros: beautiful route with interesting information points, wonderful views and fun aspects - like the suspension bridge at the well named Siberia. Good bikes (we had ebikes) and quality lunch provided as part of the package. Pickup and return to our home in Wellington made accessing the trip very easy and convenient. Delays to pickup time alerted via text. Explanation etc of bike features at the start.

Cons: somewhat lacklustre customer service. (We note others have commented on this).

The confirmation email says the company would contact us the day before to confirm and discuss the trip. We heard nothing so texted them at 1830 including asking about the wind and received a short text in return. In the event, with the strength of the wind and gusts we would not have been able to complete the trip without our ebikes, and it would have been helpful to have been warned that we would be cycling into wind for most of the trip because of the direction we had chosen. Forewarned is forearmed.

As this is a self guided tour, the information /route sheet could be improved. There are several junctions, where just adding the name of the road would be simple and very helpful. At one point, we called the company as the description and mud map were confusing. Similarly, just adding the name of the “blue dairy”(another junction) would give confidence to people from out of town.

We were warned when dropped off to give the company 45-60 minutes advance warning by text of when we wanted our pickup to return home. Accordingly we texted the company as soon as we arrived at Brewtown just before 4pm asking for a pickup in 45 minutes. This was not acknowledged until half an hour later ( due to “being on a long phone call”) and we were then told the lift would be there in about 30 minutes. We waited outside the brewery until 5.45 - having been warned they do not pickup after 1800 - so were thinking we might have to call an Uber to get home.

A few small changes would have meant we felt we had an excellent day.
