Full days enjoyment
Apr 2021
What a fantastic tour we had. Spent the whole day there = until our feet were so tired we couldn't do any more! Very great interactive and informative. Something for everyone and bonus it was all free. For 2/4 of us we'd been before but the other 2 were just blown away by the place. The staff were great and very helpful also. Our highlight was the "Web of time" art installation by Chiharu Shiota! amazing.. and of course the Gallipoli exhibition.

Everything you want to know about New Zealand in one building
Jan 2020
Everything is brilliant from the GALLIPOLI exhibit to the natural history to the gift shop to the docents who tell detailed stories; this really is an all-day visit, and be sure to save time to eat and spend at least 30 minutes in the gift shop to check out Maori gifts to bring home.

Museum and one hour guide is worth five stars
Jan 2020
The one hour tour is nice way to get a very quick overview of this multiple choice museum. There is art work for adults and hands on experiences for all ages in and around this museum. We are impressed that New Zealand offers this museum for no charge for visitors. A small charge for the one hour guide. Again, it has art, cultural history, and hands on activities for teens and toddlers. I suggest you Do Not Miss and take a nice walk along the docks when you are finished

Our guide was exceptional. She was very knowledgeable.
Unfortunately I did not have enough time to visit the whole museum,as I was on a cruise ship and had limited time. Planning to revisit later this year.

We went looking for the i-site information centre to find out about the hop on bus, but we found the museum first & ended up spending 2 hours there. The Gallipoli exhibition was very well done. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

This is an amazing museum and we only got to nibble at a few of its fabulous exhibits. Filled with history, culture and art you could easily spend a day or two. We were especially wowed by the Galipoli exhibit, the Maori exhibit and some amazing art installations.
