What a fantastic tour we had. Spent the whole day there = until our feet were so tired we couldn't do any more! Very great interactive and informative. Something for everyone and bonus it was all free. For 2/4 of us we'd been before but the other 2 were just blown away by the place. The staff were great and very helpful also. Our highlight was the "Web of time" art installation by Chiharu Shiota! amazing.. and of course the Gallipoli exhibition.

We went looking for the i-site information centre to find out about the hop on bus, but we found the museum first & ended up spending 2 hours there. The Gallipoli exhibition was very well done. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The one hour tour is nice way to get a very quick overview of this multiple choice museum. There is art work for adults and hands on experiences for all ages in and around this museum. We are impressed that New Zealand offers this museum for no charge for visitors. A small charge for the one hour guide. Again, it has art, cultural history, and hands on activities for teens and toddlers. I suggest you Do Not Miss and take a nice walk along the docks when you are finished

Possibly the best museum I’ve ever been to. A great afternoon, kids were engaged, parents were engaged, exhibits were excellent and the whole experience was exceptional. Very low expectations and I was blown out the water by how good it was

Went to see an exhibition which took 15 minutes and then there was nothing to really see. Been there done that.
Did enjoy the gift shop which was busy.
Nice to stroll along the waterfront and to have this free amenity.

Everything is brilliant from the GALLIPOLI exhibit to the natural history to the gift shop to the docents who tell detailed stories; this really is an all-day visit, and be sure to save time to eat and spend at least 30 minutes in the gift shop to check out Maori gifts to bring home.

This museum will blow your mind and leave you enthralled. It needs an entire day to be covered, I visited only two floors and still couldn’t complete it. It has such colours and cultures and rich of history of New Zealand and the world that you are kept thinking after that. Wellington is incomplete without visiting this place. It is in the heart of the city and has Masterpieces kept in it. Well done to the makers of this museum and the idea behind it!

The Surrealists!

Go! Book now! Go!

We were a mixed group of Dali enthusiasts, ho hummers and no knowers and we all were extremely impressed.

Museum staff are absolutely amazing. My thanks to the curators who set this up, it’s world class! The exhibit draws you through history and has something for everyone (the dream table is inspirational).

We arrived early to spend a little time shopping at Te Papa (we had a late booking and weren’t sure of shop hours) and were rudely directed to shop by a female staff member at the bottom of the steps (I sincerely hope that she is not employed as a greeter).

But from there, the staff were exceptional. The Exhibition shop was managed by 2 very lovely young girls, the exhibition staff were happy to discuss the experience (even security) and William the Great (Bill - every other day) took the time to get us the best photo of our holiday in wellington (thank you so much).

I cried coming out of the exhibition - I was feeling a little overwhelmed. Some of our group got done in half an hour but I would happily have spent several hours there.

Thank you so much

Best place to go on a rainy day in Wellington. Our visit this time, specially to se the Surrealist exhibition. Wow! Extradinarily well done. New for me was the transition of Dadaism into Surealism. Exhibition not to be missed. Minor grump: could be a few more seats as a good two hours plus to do justice.

Lots of information about the Maori and all of New Zealand. Could certainly spend an entire day here. Had a good guided tour, but would have liked more time.
