We tried to book a number of tours using their online booking which happily took our money but the tours were not running. Our money was refunded but a lot of wasted time and thought this must be a backyard operation of which it actually is. We ended up hiring kayaks from them and doing our own paddle to the caves which is very easy where the tour guide is not required if your competent on a kayak. The lake is ok but very windy trip paddling to the carvings. Nice seeing snow capped mountain in the distance over the lake.

We spent a wonderful day with Legend kayaking the Waikato and visiting the Orakei Korako thermal park. We originally booked The Squeeze but we couldn't do it post Cyclone Gabrielle and so the company offered us the Waikato/Orakei Korako tour as a substitute and it was fabulous. Full marks … and a lovely lunch … ! Thanks, guys … !

Prices on this website are wrong and they will not honour the listed prices. We we so disappointed- we came to Trip Advisor to plan our holiday and liked the look of this trip. When I went to book the prove went up 25% or so. I contacted the company and they would not honour the Trip Advisor price. So disappointed we decided to spend our op money elsewhere.

Beautiful river and enjoyable kayak! Joe was awesome guide and did an awesome job of giving us a tailored, professional experience. Some more information of where to meet sent to an email could be a bit better but it all worked out in the end!

Lovely, calm trip down the Waikato. We did the Family Float and it was great for all ages, from the Grandparents to 5 year old. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful scenery. A great first kayak trip.

We got incredibly lucky with having a beautiful sunny day out on the water, and very calm conditions. The whole experience was food for the soul, made even more magical by the carvings. They truly are a magnificent sight. Loved the opportunity to stop halfway and enjoy a refreshing swim in the lake. The best part however, was the generous and insightful conversation with our tour guide ‘Legend’ along the way. Learning about the rich history of the lake, the surrounding whenua and it’s people was remarkable. Would highly recommend !

This is my 1st time kayaking experience. Thanks to my instructor and to the good weather. Waikato river float will calm your mind for sure. A serene and beautiful experience. We stopped at a hot pool for about 20 minutes. At the end, the team was waiting with muffins, hot chocolate, coffee and tea.

We had hoped to kayak to the Maori rock carvings, but high winds on the lake forced us to look for other options. The Waikato River float to the Otumuheke hot springs was a lovely alternative. Not exactly strenuous if you’re looking for adventure, but absolutely stunning and we never felt unsafe. TKA took great care of us! This would be the perfect activity for a larger group of varying fitness levels!

Our guide Brett was fun and professional! Also met Lisa, the owner. Both were so friendly! Mountain biked for the first time in my life! Great views for both the mountain bike and kayaking! Loved being on lake Taupo! And lunch was delicious!

We really enjoyed kayaking down a part of the Waikato river with our guide. The weather was great, scenery fantastic and the service excellent. Our guides Hewitt and Rob were chatty, friendly and knowledgeable, also laid back and funny. The experience was very peaceful and fun. Thanks!

A fabulous few hours kayaking slowly down stream (I’m not fully mobile but I still managed) stopped off at thermal pools (these were very busy) but it was a nice break from paddling the kayak. Guild takes pictures of the tour and we really enjoyed this trip. Definitely recommend.

Maybe the tours are a different experience but we just came to rent kayaks on our own. The kayaks we got were in poor condition and the owner had us carry them down to the lake and back up with zero help. Basically ”here’s your boats and good luck.” So if you do a tour maybe this is great but if you just want to go out on your own beware. And the lake itself was fine to kayak around for a few hours but nothing special.

I took the kids and we hired kayaks for an hour and just paddled around the bays. Even though the weather wasn’t fabulous it was still a neat way to spend the morning. Would love to do it again on a sunny day.
