Serene and Beautiful
Jun 2020
This is my 1st time kayaking experience. Thanks to my instructor and to the good weather. Waikato river float will calm your mind for sure. A serene and beautiful experience. We stopped at a hot pool for about 20 minutes. At the end, the team was waiting with muffins, hot chocolate, coffee and tea.

Great for groups with varying fitness levels!
We had hoped to kayak to the Maori rock carvings, but high winds on the lake forced us to look for other options. The Waikato River float to the Otumuheke hot springs was a lovely alternative. Not exactly strenuous if you’re looking for adventure, but absolutely stunning and we never felt unsafe. TKA took great care of us! This would be the perfect activity for a larger group of varying fitness levels!

Mean kayak adventure!
We really enjoyed kayaking down a part of the Waikato river with our guide. The weather was great, scenery fantastic and the service excellent. Our guides Hewitt and Rob were chatty, friendly and knowledgeable, also laid back and funny. The experience was very peaceful and fun. Thanks!

Fabulous trip
Jan 2020 • Couples
A fabulous few hours kayaking slowly down stream (I’m not fully mobile but I still managed) stopped off at thermal pools (these were very busy) but it was a nice break from paddling the kayak. Guild takes pictures of the tour and we really enjoyed this trip. Definitely recommend.

Great river + geo-thermals + fun guides = simply heaps of fun
Jan 2019 • Family
I took my teenage daughter and son and we had a sensational time. The scenery is superb and seeing the geo-thermals up close (but still safe) was a fantastic experience. Ryan, our guide, was good value: easy to get along with, very capable and had a sound knowledge of the area.
We booked from Australia and Lisa (the owner) was very prompt with responses to my queries. They also take lots of photos which you can download for free well after the experience.
I highly recommend this experience and the TKO enterprise. Really good to deal with and great fun. Chuck in some awesome scenery and you are sorted.

Gorgeous and relaxing.
Feb 2019 • Friends
I recently did the ‘Float’ trip on the Waikato River. It was a great experience but we did get off to a less than ideal start and I hope that TKA will heed the feedback. I would’ve given this a 5 if not for the confusion at the very start. On the TKA website the directions regarding where to go and park are very good and you can’t possibly go wrong. Where we went wrong however is where we needed to walk to from there. We arrived at the car-parking spot at about 8.50-8.55am for a 9am kayak and we walked along the correct track (there is only one track/road to go down). We walked for about 10 mins and, not seeing any tour operators/kayaks in sight we began wondering (and stressing at the prospect of bing left behind) if we were in the right place. I then called TKA and explained where we were and asked if we were in the right place and the bloke on the phone said it sounded like we were. He said if we’d walked about 1000m we should be in the right spot. I honestly don’t know how far along the track we had gone but it was probably near to that (ie 1000m). He told us that the person taking the tour was possibly running late. Straight afterwards we had a call from the guide himself to ask where we were and we described it but I guess that was a moot point by then as we obviously weren’t at the right location. And it wasn’t entirely clear from the brief conversation we had as to where we should be. We ran back along the way we came and found the guide who had not been in that spot when we’d walked by it several minutes earlier (hence not stopping there). So he had run late (problem number 1) and there should have been a clear sign at this spot to indicate it is the point for TKA clients to gather/wait (problem number 2). Once we were sorted and underway we had a lovely trip down the river and our guide was very nice. The river is stunning and clear and the stop off at the hotpools was fantastic. I highly recommend this (it’s a nice easy paddle and very scenic) but also think a bit of fine tuning is required on the part of TKA to ensure would be paddlers have a bit more certainty about where to go/meet.

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately on the day, due to traffic congestion which was higher then normal our guide was running slightly late. We normally aim to be at the site well ahead of tour start time to unload equipment and greet customers. Re: your sign suggestion- which is a fantastic idea, we unfortunately are unable to erect a sign due to private land ownership. Comments like yours really helps us create the most enjoyable experiences for our customers. Otherwise, it is great to hear that you had a enjoyable tour. Thank you for coming on a tour with us!

Fascinating Trip
Nov 2018 • Couples
We had booked this trip from Australia and didn't really know what to expect from the trip.
We found the environment to be awesome, the mighty Waikato river with stunning views and abundant geothermal activity.
The guides were very informative and helpful. Canoeing down the river was fantastic, despite adverse weather at times. There were no rapids, which made the canoeing more relaxing. The tour of the geothermal pools was very interesting, such a different environment to most other places in the world. A really unique experience.
The lunch was plentiful and very nice. The whole thing was fascinating. On the bus back to Acacia Bay we discussed the interesting scenery and features, including farming and geothermal power stations.
The best thing about this trip is that it would have been impossible for us to do it on our own and it took us to places we never would have found.
