Take the ultimate leap of faith on this tandem skydive in Taupo, the North Island’s adventure and water sports capital. Start with a 20-minute flight over Lake Taupo, Tongariro National Park and the snowcapped peaks of the surrounding mountain ranges. Then, at 15,000 feet (4.6 km), throw yourself out of the plane with your experienced instructor and free-fall at breakneck speeds of up to 124 mph (200 kmph). Upgrade on the day to have photos or a video taken of your experience. Hotel pickup and drop-off from Taupo or Rotorua available on request.
Select the start time that’s most convenient for you, and then either drive yourself to Taupo Airport or request a pickup from your accommodation in Taupo.
After checking in with the reservations team, you’ll take part in a comprehensive safety briefing. Then, get your provided gear on and meet the experienced instructor who you’ll be connect to during your skydive. If you’ve opted to include a video of your experience, you’ll do a short interview before takeoff.
Climb to 15,000 feet over what is sure to be one of the world’s most stunning drop zones. Gaze down at Tongariro National Park, the great Lake Taupo and the snowy peaks of Mt Ruapehu and Mt Doom from The Lord of the Rings. When you’ve reached the optimum altitude, move to the door of the plane and jump out into the air.
Free-fall for around a minute at dizzying speeds of up to 124 mph. Your instructor will deploy the parachute at around 5,000 feet and you’ll finish with a gentle canopy ride back down to the ground.
Your experience finishes with a drop-off back at your original departure point.
