          Couldn’t have been crater!
Just back from a great half day out with the fam-bam at Waimangu volcanic valley. We’d expected a pleasant walk with a few bubbling pools but the geology, thermal activity, history and scenery far surpassed our expectations. Highlights were the Inferno crater, boat trip to see mini geysers and being directly over where the pink and white terraces are now buried- awesome!

          Keith is amazing!
We needed a shuttle to take us and bikes to do te ara ahi bike track. Keith went above just getting us from a to b, he showed us many of the geothermal sites on our way there. We got lost and even called Keith who put us back on track. He is such an asset to the company and just put 110% in to ensuring we had so much knowledge of the local area! Giving us things to look out for during out bike ride

Waimangu Volcanic Valley with Boat Cruise Tour
This was the best and up close time we spent in the valley looking at Geo Thermals. The boat cruise should not be missed as you watch native birds, steaming cliffs, eruption sites and craters. We saw many eruptions and amazing view on our cruise. This is a definitely one boat cruise cannot be missed.

          World’s biggest hot spring
Brilliant day out both at Wai-O-Tapu and Waimangu valley. Keith the driver was excellent, very informative and knew how to time our visits to get the most from the day. Waimangu Valley really spectacular, happily come back again.

Amazing experience in the volcano area
Everything was perfectly organized - from the pick up at the hotel to the drop off - in order for you to see both sites in one day if you only stay for a short time in Rotoura. Nice guide with a lot of explanation and time fo yourself to discover and walk on your own. Loved it.

Great for transport, overview commentray and self-tour
I was looking primarily for transport to Wai-O-Tapu and Waimangu Valley without a full guided we-all-stick-together-type tour. Thermal Land Shuttle was perfect! I was picked up promptly at my hotel, joined other travelers and we were transported to Wai-O-Tapu with interesting commentary on the way. Thermal Land Shuttle knows how to efficiently use the Wai-O-Tapu schedule! On arriving, we had no wait in line, immediate entry. It was suggested we complete the first circuit of geothermal features, then return to the bus to be taken to Lady Knox for the eruption. This was great advice. After Lady Knox, as other visitors joined the traffic jam to return to the main park, Thermal Land Shuttle's clients were taken to enjoy the huge mud pool. After this viewing, traffic had lessened somewhat and we were brought back to the main park with the suggestion that we walk the trails in reverse to avoid huge crowds doing a forward circuit. Another great idea! I was the only one of my bus group that had scheduled a full day with Waimangu. I was brought there as others finished up Wai-O-Tapu. Perfect. Individual arrangements were made with me as to my pick-up. I couldn't have asked for better service. Commentary on the drives was fascinating, time allotted for the self-tours was more than sufficient and the company was on top of how to beat the crowds. It was a great day!

          Super
Had a great time with our friendly and helpful tour guide today. On our way to destinations we also had time to stop a few times to get smashing shots of beautiful landscapes. Everything was smooth and easy. Pick up and drop off from our hotel doorstep. Keep up the good work, greetings from Finland :)

          I definitely recommend it!
Everything worked out as planned, after a visit at the incredible Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, we were up on time to see the Lady Knox Geysir erupt! Visited the mud pools afterwards and then went on to stay at the Waimangu Volcanic Valley for a few hours. Everything was definitely worth a visit, you don’t want to miss it. On the drives we were provided with interesting information about the area. Thanks for the amazing day!

I would give them 6 out of 5 if I could
We had an amazing day touring Wai-O-Tapu and Waimangu. Our shuttle was on time and well organized. Our guide, Akika, was incredible. As we were visiting during the off-season and were the only family on his shuttle he took us to a few extra spots along the way, some of which were the highlight of our trip. He spoke knowledgeably about the area while driving and was friendly and entertaining. He gave us excellent advice about where to sit for the geyser and tailored our trip to avoid crowds. Both parks were incredible. Wai-O-Tapu was gorgeous but be prepared for the sulphur smell as it is quite strong. Waimangu is incredibly beautiful with fantastic views of many geothermal features. If you can only do one of the tours, do Waimangu. We cannot thank Akika enough for such a memorable day!

          Terrific day out!
Wanted access to some of the more remote geothermal sites around Rotorua but didn’t have a car. This service got us there with no fuss and advance tickets. Our driver Thomas was very friendly and gave us lots of useful information about the local landscape. Saw both Wai-o-tupo and Waimangu. Would absolutely us this service in future. Thanks Thermal Land Shuttle!

I thought we were just paying for a drive to a thermal destination so I was bowled over when our driver started his super informative and entertaining description of the landscape we passed and even pulled over for special photo ops. Akira you are fabulous!! Thank you for a wonderful day out!

          Great service
This was a really good way to see both Wai-O-Tapu and Waimangu. The driver is super friendly with great advice on where to get the best view of Lady Knox guiser and how long it will take us to walk through the parks. There was plenty of time set aside for each park and entry is included in the ticket price. I definitely think it is worth doing both parks though I did like Waimangu a little more. It was a great, hassle-free day out.

Our guide Akira was very informative and passionate about the tour. He was prompt with pickup and had a good itinerary and time management.
The thermal gardens were self guided, but that was easy to follow the general directions

Took the 12p shuttle from the YHA to Wai-O-Tapu today. It was seamless and reliable. The tour driver gave interesting information along the way and even stopped at additional places for us to take pictures (i.e. mud pools, Lake Rotorua) which made it even more worthwhile. I’m traveling solo so i had the option of renting an expensive rental car for the day for the places Thermal Land Shuttles provides or going with Thermal Land Shuttles. So glad I went with them instead!! Plus i got tips for where to take the best pictures which i wouldn’t have known on my own. Thank you so much TLS!!

The springs are fabulous and this was a well organised and flexible tour. However there were 22 of us on a 22 seater minibus and the seats were tiny - looked like they were made for schoolchildren. Very cramped and uncomfortable

Kia ora Andrew, Thank you for your time to write this review. We pride ourselves on having a well organised tour. Like we said to your travel partner Dennis in the previous review, The bus is a 2017 Mercedes Benz that we believe is ideal for this day out. Travel times are reasonably sort, keeps our tour size optimal to deliver a friendly kiwi experience with great fuel efficiency, helping our endeavours with the environment. We hope you have a great rest of your stay in New Zealand. Thanks Again for your review

"Thermal Wonderland" absolutely describes what you see. The driver was very knowledgeable and gave plenty of information about the area. The "let down" was the quality of transport to get there. The bus appeared relatively new and was full but was not designed to cater for European frames. The seats were tiny and cramped which resulted in a very uncomfortable journey to the site. I had been to the site 2 years before with the same company and this had not been an issue. (5 star review).

Kia ora Dennis, Thank you for your time to write this review, it is appreciated. We take pride in our guides being some of the best. In regards to the transport, all our fleet are European being modern Mercedes - Benz so should cater for all frames. We know like most vehicles on busy days it can be cosy, lucky its only a half hour trip to Waiotapu from Rotorua. Max size is 22 people. Thank you again for your support and coming out with us a second time. Cheers, Thomas
