- 325ket0 contributionsUnforgettable First Ziplining Adventure in Rotorua! It was my first time ziplining, and thanks to Jess, Loki (sorry, I’m not sure about the spelling), and everyone on the team, it was such a fun experience! Though I felt a little nervous at first, the adventure turned out to be amazing. Jess and Loki are so experienced (and also very humorous) that I felt completely safe and reassured throughout the whole journey! Since I’m still struggling a bit with speaking English, Jess was so patient and never got tired of helping me. I felt really supported and warm! I’ll definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a semi-thrilling but totally exciting experience in Rotorua!Written 8 September 2024

Our guides were fun, informative, careful at all times and made us feel very, very safe. Although I'm scared of heights, I felt incredibly safe and found almost the whole thing a whole lot of fun. My family of 7 and I went on the canopy tours in January and the tour guides, Dan and Mitchell were absolutely fantastic. They were super helpful in guiding us through the whole canopy tour and made it very enjoyable for us. They were also quite entertaining; cracking jokes, telling us facts about the wildlife of the forest, all which made our overall experience very memorable! I definitely recommend this adventure to anyone who’s in Rotorua or near. Thank you two for a wonderful experience!

First of all it was safe. There were lots of lines so it wasn't over too soon. The forest was beautiful. AND, there are extensive conservation processes to save the birds from predators that are paid for by the entrance fee. The guides made it fun, even for those who were a bit scared. I am in my 70s, and it was excellent!
As we do not have Covid in New Zealand, we do not have any of the requirements regarding masks, etc.

Well, what a blast, flying above the treetops, walking in the canopy, fun and laughter, the most enjoyable part of our holiday altogether. Tegan and Sean's knowledge, humour, experience, and supportive encouragement for those a little more timid, was a breath of fresh air compared to the average run of the mill $$ churning tourist attractions. Very professional, exhilarating, and at times challenging, well worth a visit, we will be returning in the future to take on more challenges. The icing on the cake, to find out part of the price goes towards conserving this beautiful piece of NZ forest. 100/100

We had our own small group that consisted of young guys with varying degrees of Autism and slight intellectual disabilities. Right from the moment of booking the service was brilliant, the staff created solutions so that memories could be made for people who would otherwise struggle to cope with this. Our guides Matt, Tegan and Nui were patient and funny, made everyone feel relaxed while maintaining a high standard of professionalism. It's not an easy task to always ensure that instructions are understood by folks 'without a disability' but they got these guys over the line.
They guys loved it, not one of them faltered on the day as they left the platforms.
They talked about it long afterwards and was undoubtedly the best part of the their holiday. Thank you Rotorua Canopy Tours.

This zip line canopy tour is not to be missed. It surpassed the Queenstown zip line in every respect. The commitment to the native forest and the information provided about the conservation project was second to none. Our guides Harry and Cody were so professional, knowledgeable and funny. They disarmed and distracted the nervous among our group so well that everyone had a wonderful exciting zip line adventure. Thanks so much. It was one of the highlights of our N Z five week holiday.

I love the outdoors and wanted to conquer my fear of heights. The guides Harry and Natalie are excellent at building relationships and made us feel comfortable with them from the very beginning. They were down to earth and patient and supportive when we were up really high in the trees and I felt too scared. I felt completely safe with them and with all of the safety protocols the company has in place. Then I started to have fun! My partner who isn't scared thought it was great and he loved the experience.
I found the talks about conservation a highlight, even though I knew it is important I felt such appreciation for the work this company is doing with pest control to help regenerate the native ecosystems. Going on this zip line tour has inspired me to begin trapping pests in my back yard and my community.
It rained heavily this day, the company provides wet weather gear but I would really recommend wearing warm layers underneath, I had 4 layers of merino, a woolen beanie under my helmet and gloves on and still got cold in the springtime.

I loved this excursion! From the moment of pick up, our driver had us laughing and getting to know our fellow travelers. The forest was beautiful and the tour was very well-organized. Our guides were so fun- they were funny and played with us the entire way all while making us feel very safe. This really was a first rate experience.

Want an awesome New Zealand zipline experience? Then Rotorua Canopy Tours is the place to go. Of all the Rotorua activities on offer, this full-on adventure flies (literally) above all of them.
Your skilled and friendly guides (we had Nui and Ash on our trip and they were sensational!) will guide you deep into an ancient rainforest on the shores of beautiful Lake Rotorua where the canopy tours zipline system is located. As you ascend through the forest to the base of the first zipline, your guides will tell you about some of the superb native flora and fauna surrounding you. (Don't be surprised if a few of them come and visit while you are up in their treetop domain.)
From the first high-speed descent, you will be exhilarated by the magnificent trees, ferns and foliage as you fly above, through and past them. Any lingering fear of heights you may still have will soon be dispelled by the relaxed and professional attitude of your guides, and by the time you launch yourself out on the final zipline you'll be quite happily flying upside down and whooping with delight.
Your guides will also introduce you to the excellent conservation work that Rotorua Canopy Tours are undertaking in this tiny slice of rainforest paradise, funded entirely by a percentage of each tour price. Awesome effort you guys!
So if you have a chance to experience this New Zealand mustdo adventure, don't hesitate...just step off the edge and fly!

There was a man on our tour with an entire Nikon DSLR... My personal choice was to hire their GoPro and I'm glad I made that choice rather than taking my own proper camera. But your choice and yes, it's perfectly permissable.

What are the 2 times listed on the options for? For instance, when I see "4.15pm Original Canopy Tour 12:30", does that mean 4:15pm or 12:30pm? I see it says 3 hours, does that include the pickup and drop off or is that just the time you spend on the zipline? I've got a lot to book in Rotorua, but definitely want to do this!
Written 9 August 2019
You have to make your own way there. As to times I suggest you email them.
The whole zip line takes an awesome 3 hours for the standard tour there is a longer and more expensive tour called the Ultimate.
