Napier Afternoon Wine Tour
From US$84.45
Fine-tune your appreciation of New Zealand wine on this afternoon tour of the Hawkes Valley wine region from Napier. Sample regional wines and champagne at the Church Road Winery, then enjoy tours and tastings at the Esk Valley Estate and Mission Estate, New Zealand's oldest winery. After strolling the vineyards of the Linden Estate, end the day with wine, cheese and a panoramic view over Hawkes Bay.
What to Expect
You will be picked up from your accommodation at approximately 1pm. You will be transported in a modern air conditioned minibus.
Nearby Mission Estate is the first winery we visit to taste their extensive wine range but to also take time to enjoy the historic Seminary  building and its surrounding.
Church Road winery is located almost next door. This estate is renown for great reds and some wonderful chardonnays.
The next winery, Linden Estate is located in the picturesque Esk Valley surrounded by orchards growing a wide range of fruits. This will be an outdoor seated tasting and a complimentary cheese board will be provided to be enjoyed during the tasting. Ross the owner/guide of the tour company planted and tended many of the vineyard blocks at this estate. He conducts most of the tours and will provide a brief talk about grape growing and vine management out in the vineyard.
The Tony Bish Urban winery is the last winery visited and it is located back in Ahururi. At the conclusion of this tasting a guided tour of the barrel hall and the amazing Golden Egg brings the tour to an end. You will be then returned to your accommodation around 5.30 pm.

Knowledgeable host and a good sampling of Hawke's Bay wine

Ross knows his wine and the Hawke's Bay wine area. The selected 4 vineyards represented a good cross selection of the area. At each vineyard we were paired with knowledgeable, and often very funny, wine hosts. A good way to sample wine of the region.
