"Southern Beauty"
Mar 2021
Recently completed the 9 day Southern Beauty tour and what an amazing tour this was with such a lovely group of 18 people. This was our second trip with Moa and again it lived up to all our expectations with beautiful scenery, top notch accommodation and great meals, all included in the cost bar for the odd cup of coffee.

Had beaut weather at Mt. Cook where we saw it in brilliant sunshine and then when in Queenstown we did a fly over of the Southern Alps and Milford Sound, again in brilliant sunshine. Our very competent guide Andrew rescheduled this for us as bad weather was forecast for the intentioned day, so it all worked out brilliantly and we had a good flight and fantastic views.

Nothing was too much trouble for our driver and guide, Andrew, who was very informative, a careful driver and a fun person to have as a guide. Thanks Andrew for a great tour and hopefully we will get to travel with you again. Susan and Clif.

We saw and learned so much about NZ’s Southern Beauty!
Oct 2020
We have just completed our Southern Beauty tour with Moa Tours. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even places where we have previously visited. Our guide/driver Tim was excellent with his depth of knowledge, his driving, his attention to detail. His droll sense of humour was greatly appreciated by the whole group. His people management was skilful too!

Our vehicle was comfortable, and not too noisy. The accommodation was very good. We were certainly well fed!, except where Moa Tours was let down on our first night at The Hermitage, where our meals were very disappointing, there was very little in the way of drinks at the bar and the service was not good. At the other end of the scale, we had very nice meals and service at The Boardwalk Restaurant in Queenstown. Good choice there, Moa Tours. The only other thing that took our breath away - besides the scenery - was the price of drinks at the Punakaiki Hotel.

Our group of 18 got on very well, and we had a lot of laughs and good times.

The highlight of the trip for us was the day we went to Milford Sound. Then the flight back to Queenstown: definitely a great experience we will always remember. I think most of us were a little nervous when we got into the 12-seater plane, however we soon settled in and totally enjoyed flying over the Sound, out and up the coast (and seeing 3 whales below us!), then inland flying up valleys with the snow-capped mountains above us and the rivers below us. Flying in over Lake Wakatipu and viewing Queenstown was great.

Kia Ora and thank you so much for your review. We appreciate your feedback regarding the dinner at the local restaurant in Mt Cook, unfortunately the supplier did let us down and we have therefore changed this for future tours. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the trip, that was a treat seeing humpback whales too! Tim is a great guide to tour with, all our guests agree. Thank you again and we hope to see you again soon.

Kakapo 21 Day New Zealand Small Group Tour
Feb 2020
New Zealand is a land of contrasts. Of all our travels, these magnificent islands were among the most amazing in diversity of geography and topography. But what was consistent throughout the islands was the warm welcome and genuine interest given to their guests. The MoaTrek guides provided a wealth of information and practical advice. Their team had sought out destinations and hosts who provided unique and personal experiences on farms, on boats, in caves and even in large group settings. We highly recommend MoaTrek for providing your experience of New Zealand.

KiaOra Cathy and thank you for taking the time to write this review. Visitors to New Zealand always say the warm welcome they get from Kiwis is one of the things they remember most of all and we're glad to hear you thought so too. Take care and we hope to see you back here in New Zealand again one day soon.

Kickapoo 21 day tour of both Islands
Feb 2020
A small tour group is the only way to see New Zealand! Moa Trek tours are well organized, taking in the highlights of both unique Islands. We were well taken care of by our knowledgeable and informative guide. All the accommodations were first class, usually with a picture of paradise right outside our window. Everywhere we went the food never disappointed us. Words cannot describe the beauty we beheld of this beautiful country. This was a trip of a lifetime and with unforgettable memories!

Trip of a Lifetime
Mar 2020
Visiting New Zealand is something that everyone should do. When you look at the two main islands on a map it looks like a week's visit should be sufficient. When you get there you realize that a month is too short a visit. To get the most out of the adventure you need a god guide and MoaTrek certainly filled the bill. From visiting natural wonders to meeting the locals over lunch or just staying in luxurious hotel accommodations, all was looked after. Cant' wait to go back.

Kia Ora Gord and thank you for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed your tour. It's the combination of things like hosted lunches and comfy accommodation that everyone tells us they love, so we're so happy you did too. Take care and we can't wait to see you back here again one day soon. Ka kite anō.

A great tour and we're still together 6 months later!
Nov 2019
It's a testament to the success of our tour that six months on, in a locked down world, seven of us, plus our driver, Nigel, had our second virtual meeting. We all met originally on the Kakapo 21 day tour, November 2019. The tour was well-organised, totally enjoyable and we were looked after every step of the way. So, Nigel became and remained part of the group - as well as being our driver. The accommodation throughout was good, the places we visited were interesting and varied, from a catamaran trip to a really memorable lunch on the lawn of a wonderful farmhouse, from a boat trip round the Bay of Islands to a glorious bbq on a beautiful beach on our final night. And during the tour there was adequate downtime to ensure we weren't always rushed plus a choice of individual side tours, so we weren't all together the whole time and could share different experiences afterwards. So, there we were again last night, Nigel having breakfast in NZ (the following day!) five of us post-dinner in different parts of the UK, one in Florida in the afternoon after lunch and one in California before lunch - chatting together again for around an hour and a half! This was a really great tour, organised by a family-owned company, and we wish Moa Trek well in the post-Covid world - an excellent choice if you want to experience the amazingly varied landscape of New Zealand.

Kia Ora and thank you so much for your wonderful review. Nigel is a great man to travel with, he knows all the spots and is a whizz on that BBQ in Punakaiki. It's wonderful to hear that you're still keeping in touch. Take care and we hope to see you back here again in NZ one day soon. Ka kite anō.

More than excellent!
Mar 2020 • Couples
The 12-day Kiwi tour was our first organised tour and we could not have chosen better. We had a small group of amazing people, a super duper guide. And the activities!! Numerous, varied and exciting!! We could not have done them all on our own. Definitely recommend Moa Trek for their well organised tour and for keeping us in the loop throughout the whole process. We are now considering the 9-day tour to complete our vist to the beautiful New Zealand!

The Trip of a Lifetime
Mar 2020
My husband and I will never forget our MoaTrek tour of New Zealand. For three weeks, Tim, our tireless, good-humored, super-knowledgeable guide and driver, showed us his beautiful country -- from top to bottom--mountains, glaciers, rain forests, beaches, rivers, cities, fjords, and farms. He taught us about the history, the geology, and the fragility of this amazing country and made every day fun. And as we explored, hiked, and sailed, our travel companions became our friends. We had dreamt of taking this trip for years, and it surpassed our expectations in every way.

FANTASTIC TRIP
Mar 2020 • Couples
Words cannot express how wonderful this trip was. For anyone wanting an adventurous trip, this is the one for you. We walked and hiked a lot but we also saw so many things. Our guide, Tim, was absolutely fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and informative. For optional activities, he was able to provide details in addition to the printed itinerary.

Our Superlative 17 Day MoaTrek New Zealend Tour of North and South Islands
Feb 2020
My wife, Joanie, and I enjoyed an utterly amazing small group tour of both islands of New Zealand with MoaTrek. While I had never been on a group tour before and faced it with some trepidation, MoaTrek's itinerary, facilitated by our "Master Guide," Nigel, opened up places and experiences to us that we could never have managed on our own! I can't say enough about Nigel, who got to know each and every one of us and our personal interests and back stories," relating all that he opened up to us back to our personal interests. A true raconteur, Nigel, was a fount of background history and information of all we encountered. Our accommodations were wonderful, at times breathtaking, and we ended our trip feeling that we had experienced a comprehensive sampler of all that was singular, special, and extraordinary in New Zealand. It was a trip of a lifetime for me, and I now regard Nigel, our consummate guide, as a true Kiwi friend!! Thank You!!!

Kia Ora and thank you for this thoughtful and kind review. We know Nigel loves sharing the countryside with guests and everyone become friends in no time. You probably even got to share his famous beach BBQ or room parties, he's the true Kiwi host. Thanks and we hope to see you back again here in New Zealand one day soon. Ka kite anō.
