- Whilst experience riding an electric bike is not necessary (we'll provide an orientation and we'll do a test ride to make sure you're comfortable before we head off), you must of course be able to ride a bike! If you haven't ridden in a while, for your enjoyment/safety and that of your fellow riders, we strongly recommend you have a practice riding at home before your visit to Auckland. As well as riding on our wonderful cycleways, we will of course be riding in the road at times (to get to the good places!). Riding in traffic is a dynamic environment, so you will need to be comfortable riding in the road in order to enjoy the tour. And Auckland's volcanic past means that there a quite few hills to go up and down - the eBikes make going up easy, but you'll obviously need to be able to ride downhill! If you’d prefer a shorter, easier ride along Auckland’s beautiful waterfront - check out The Easy Rider, one of our other tour listings!

- The tours run rain or shine, you will be provided free use of a bright and comfortable rain jacket, if you need one.
- Our electric bikes are designed with a maximum weight capacity of 250 pounds (113 kg).
- We recommend you bring sunscreen - the sun in NZ can be very harsh.
- You may also wish to bring a bottle of water with you for the ride. You can store that in the bag on your bike. The is also a water fountain near our departure point - if you need to fill up your water bottle.
- Whilst we welcome solo riders, this experience requires a minimum number of riders booked in order for it to go ahead (2). If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll either be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s cancelled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
- This experience requires a minimum number of travellers. If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- suez7960 contributionsRiding around Auckland on a beautiful, sunny day!Had a great tour today biking around the city. Our guide Carson was fantastic and very knowledgeable about facts and information. If you had a question he had no problem answering it. Very concerned about our safety and had his first aid kit out to help one of riders! You don’t have to be an expert rider to enjoy this tour.Written 31 January 2025
- G5863BErichardp0 contributionsAwesome timeEddie was amazing . Great time ! Highly recommend! Electric bikes were fun and easy to operate. My wife who was hesitant totally enjoyed the trip as well .Written 27 January 2025
- bobbF9442UQ0 contributionsGreat way to get a different view of AucklandWhat an excellent tour of Auckland. Carson gave us a good introduction to get started and the radio commentary throughout was a nice touch to allow everyone to hear him no matter where they were riding. Bikes were in good shape and the route was very safe; mostly on separate paths, but always at least a bike lane.Written 11 January 2025
- winecouchon0 contributionsAuckland HoodsCarson did a fabulous job. He explained the areas. We stopped along the way. As you ride he tells you about the sights. Most of all he keeps you safe as you ride on the left. Would definitely recommendWritten 9 January 2025
- PrueTravels0 contributionsGet on your bike!Great bikes, made the hills easy. Knowledgeable commentary, with the perfect mix of information, humour and quiet. Loved the seasonal detour to see the street of Christmas lights. 100% recommend.Written 7 December 2024
- jamestZ2502DC0 contributionsE-bike for the win!Awesome way to get a feel for the city and the E-bike makes it so easy with the hills. Leave it off to burn all the calories you like or engage it to take a nice break and just cruise up the hills. Our guide Carson was fantastic and I’ll take the tour again if I’m ever back around this way!Written 8 November 2024
- Jennifer P0 contributionsAwesome way to see the city!Last minute booking was not disappointed :) Carson our guide was awesome . Friendly, knowledgeable and easy to understand instructions for someone who had never ridden an enoke before. We road out to the bridge and the up Mt Eden ( which was a tough climb made easier by the electric boost.) So worth it for the fabulous views. Easier ride back down and great overview of restaurants and cafes to Check out later. Thanks for a great afternoon ride.Written 24 October 2024
- Terry H0 contributionsExcellent!!Incredible experience. Eddy is the best tour operator/guide we have ever had. Extremely well organized and great communicator! Bikes were in excellent condition and a breeze to ride/operate. Best tour/excursion ever.Written 17 October 2024
- katrinao7050 contributionsAbsolutely amazing bike tour! This is one of the best tours I've done! Our guide Eddie was friendly, professional, knowledgable and took us to so many places I wouldn't have explored by foot. We received headsets so as we were riding we could listen to the history and local intel of Auckland. It also made it easy to ride as Eddie gave clear directions when having to veer right, turn corners, speed up/slow down etc. At the end we even received a handout Eddie had put together with all his rec's of the local cafes and restaurants. I'd choose to do this again in a heartbeat and have told all my friends and family about it.Written 8 October 2024
- vincepjy0 contributionsAuckland by e-bike. What a blast. This was a really fun experience and an outstanding way to see Auckland. Carson was a pleasure to deal with - knowledgeable, personable, great sense of humour, always upbeat and extremely focused on our safety. The e-bikes were great fun and the power function so helpful on the hills and when riding into the wind. We would do this again in a heartbeat. Well worth the price. - pkboov0 contributionsFabulous ebike tour of Auckland!Absolutely fabulous morning doing the classic bike tour of Auckland with our family group of 4. Carson was a delightful host - really made our morning! The ear pieces to hear Carson with the commentary were fantastic to keep the pace moving, but not miss out on any of the interesting stories and information. The ebikes were fantastic and comfortable as well. Highly recommend!Written 25 August 2024

- mikerY7244SS0 contributionsGreat experienceWas able to see a large part of the city. The bikes were the best I've used on this type of tour. Worked out very well as an "on your own" cruise excursion.Written 3 May 2024
- Wanderer7980440 contributionsSuch a great tour!Such a great tour! We went with my husband and one more person. Carson was was a phenomenal tour guide, who gave us quality instruction and guidance throughout the trip. We felt safe and the stops were informative. He gave us lots of picture opportunities. Excellent e-bikes, very easy to navigate. History, nature, water and lots of fun! Definitely would recommend for anyone in townWritten 31 March 2024
- Deb H0 contributionsGreat orientation to Auckland by e-bike!Eddie was a great tour guide/trip leader! We are in our mid sixties and felt safe as he was very clear with his directions and he let us know what to expect next as we navigated the bike lanes across town. Headsets and helmets were provided as was a place to store our bag/backpack on each bike. He gave a good orientation to our e-bike and safety procedures and provided time to get accustomed to it before we started out. We should have taken this trip at the beginning of our visit to Auckland as he was very knowledgeable about the neighborhoods we biked through as well as New Zealand history. Thanks Eddie for a fun adventure!Written 18 March 2024

Starting with the bikes in perfect condition, by the way more S-pedelecs by German standards, because there is no speed limit in NZ, via a cleverly chosen route, with Eddie, a super nice, knowledgeable and maximally prudent guide who has lived in Auckland for over 20 years and knows the city like his waistcoat, this was a super experience. We felt very well looked after and entertained. The small group was ideal for exploring the city in a group. And Eddie always chose the right speed for our group. Anyone who can cycle can ride here.
Auckland is definitely a cycling city, incredible the infrastructure for cycling here!
We can only recommend Eddie with Power to the Pedal as a top activity, especially if you have just arrived in Auckland and want to have an overview.

As far as electric bike tours go, this is up there with the best! Auckland is wonderful and there’s no better way of getting around. Eddie was the perfect guide and helped set up our bikes and gave clear safety instructions. The bikes are top notch and being able to hear his commentary through an ear piece was fab. This tour was the highlight of our visit.
Thanks Eddie!

Eddie is very responsible and takes care of everything meticulously. He even prepared windproof jackets for us in case we got cold. Throughout the trip, he paid great attention to our safety and highlighted the unique culture of Auckland. He is patient, polite, and very caring. Eddie loves life and spreads that love to others, making new visitors feel comfortable and welcomed. He balances comfort and responsibility very well, making him an excellent guide for experiencing Auckland's city electric bike tour.

Do not miss seeing Auckland by E bike! The E bikes are of top quality and Carson did a fabulous job orienting the group to the bike. I am an avid cyclist, but riding a e bike is new to me. Great for any experienced or beginner rider as you use different levels of power. They give you audio ear pieces as you ride to hear the guide. I thought those were so cool! Plus the guide uploads pictures of you to your email and gives a restaurant map of all the places he mentions! Carson was a top notch guide keeping us informed of the history of New Zealand and being personable. Well worth the money and got to see so many places in Auckland. Beats taking the bus any day! This is a must book. The Cafe that you meet at by the Hyatt is very yummy as well! I ate there as I waited for the tour to start. Five stars all around!

The bike tour was one of my most favorite things I did while visiting Auckland! It truly is a wonderful way to see the city --- much better than the hop on/hop off bus I did the day before!
Our guide Carson was fantastic --- easy, kind, knowledgeable. He shared a lot of information throughout our ride --- having earpieces to listen to him for info and safety instructions was extremely helpful. He took good care of us.
It was also my first time on an e-bike and it was easier to use than I thought. It made my ride very comfortable and achievable, especially when we went uphill towards Mount Eden!
Eddie was very responsive and provided great service when I was booking the tour.
I highly recommend Power to the Pedal!

Our guide was a great ambassador for New Zealand. We learned a ton about the land, the people, the culture and the sites. The E bikes were very easy to use. We highly recommend this tour as a way to get to know the city of Auckland.

Eddie took our, last minute, booking after contacting him via email. There was one spot left, for the two of us. He responded quickly, sure! Great 3 hour tour of Auckland multiple stops, excellent commentary both at the stops and during the ride. The tour provides headsets for the riders to hear comments, directions and safety tips. Nice E-bikes to conquer the hills of Auckland. After the ride, links were provided with pictures taken during the day and a route map, well done - exceeded expectations. Highly recommend this tour.

A great way to get to know the city of Auckland. The electric bikes are easy to ride up and down the many hills, and cover a good chunk of the city, with expert direction and commentary via an earpiece from local man Eddie. Viewpoints, history and tips on cafes, bars and restaurants included!

Carson did an incredible job of navigating us through many NZ neighborhoods and city center spots all while providing so much historical and current NZ information. We learned a lot about the Maori culture and history as well as modern day life in NZ. Carson was warm, friendly, and had a great sense of humor. We even enjoyed discussing our common love of winter sports. We would definitely recommend this tour to others!

Hi, is there an option to not pedal & just let the electrics do the work?
Written 16 May 2019
Yes. The bike does have a throttle so actually no need to pedal. However, I imagine using the throttle the entire time would use up more battery life so probably best to check with tour guide if battery life would be sufficient.
Written 16 May 2019
Half-day, four hours, morning and done by 1pm, but the vendor will flex with you if possible, my guess because he was very nice and accommodative to me.
