Piha Beach and Rainforest Day Tour
From US$128.64
Travel with a small group on a guided tour to Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, including a rainforest walk and a stroll on Piha Beach. This day trip heads west from Auckland with a stop at the Arataki Visitor Centre for harbor views. Dig your toes into the black-sand beach pounded by large surf and walk to a cascading waterfall for a swim. Your knowledgeable guide points out native flora and birdlife along the way.
What to Expect
Your day will begin with a free 10am pickup from your centrally located hotel or airport. A 10am start will allow you to enjoy a bit of a sleep in and also ensure we miss morning traffic.
We will then start our journey out west through Avondale, where we will pass by New Zealand’s biggest spider! On Sundays only, the tour will stop at Auckland’s biggest markets. Travel through the village of Ttitirangi, stopping at Arataki Visitor Information Centre in the Waitakere Ranges.
Your guide will show you the views on the outside of the building then we head inside for a short time before we are back out again to see the start of the Hillary Trail and a great view of both harbors. See the silver fern and Kauri tree, soak in the scent of the tree before heading out to the beautiful Piha Beach. Enjoy this breath-taking black sand beach with big surf waves and volcanic cliff faces.
After this we will stop in at a local café to feast on a delicious lunch (at own expense).
After lunch we will walk through the rainforest to a beautiful waterfall where you will be able to observe native birds and trees. You’ll also have the chance to indulge in a cool swim at the waterfall, so be sure to bring along your swimmers!
Come join us on this awesome day out!

Thanks Terry for a fantastic and informative day out. Perfect day trip from Auckland, especially for two jet lagged travellers with very little time to explore NZ. Great views and scenery. Highlight was walking the black sand beach, wading to the base of a waterfall...More

Fantastic Tour

I was lucky enough to have the tour to myself on the day I went. Terry was a fantastic guide who know a huge amount of information on the local area and tailored the tour around the unpredictable weather on the day. Cannot recommend this...More

Even the locals loved it

Terry took us locals out on a trip and it was so much fun. He makes the whole thing enjoyable with a good amount of banter, information and entertainment. He needs to charge more!
