- E303ZBnatalieo0 contributionsAwesome City Food Tour!!I would highly recommend the Foody Tour- it was a great way to get to know the city and especially the suburbs. Much of the good food scene is in the burbs. El, our guide, was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the food scene. She made it interesting and fun, especially as I was travelling solo. Enjoyed a range of food and everything was delicious!!Written 13 January 2025
- Melicious07040 contributionsGreat Tour and lunch in the suburbsMy family booked this tour from the USA and it didn't disappoint 🙌🏽. We were greet with great hospitality from start to finish and ate very well through the suburbs. We had delicious pies, charteutere board, wine, beer, steak, salads, fresh coffee, chocolate and a bonus stop to buy some authentic perfumes from a local storefront. Absolutely a dream come true. Our tour guide Cath was magnificent ✨️. Please book it...you will not be disappointed.Written 27 November 2024
- robynmclean880 contributionsGold stars for Auckland experienceThis tour was named A Place at our table. Elle picked us up in Auckland and our first stop was coffee. Fabulous cafe behind K Road who roast their own beans and have great treats to go with great coffee. From there we headed to Elle's cottages in Kumeu - we stopped for a local chardonnay wine tasting along the way. We were re-aquainted with a wine easily forgotten. Aniother stop at Muriwai to see black sand coastline from high vantage point. Next to the local produce store to pick up supplies for lunch and then when we thought it could not get better we had a sensational lunch cooked by an award winning chef! Carefully chosen paired wine with each course just tipped the scales. It was sublime to say the least and exceeded all expectations. More than highly recommend Elle and her cohesive team. Well done!Written 22 November 2024
- Curious061665678840 contributionsPerfect Half Day Foody TourAlways looking for local foodie spots, particularly those not frequented by the casual tourist. During a cruise stop in Auckland, Kath created a half day schedule tailored to our palates. She picked us up very close to the wharf and we were on our way in a very comfy Mercedes van. Kath not only set up the tastings but she also provided the back story of the locally inspired foods as well as some history of Auckland. We had 6 stops including stopping first at the farmers market. Wonderful back stories by vendors and their goods and offerings. Can’t say enough about this tour. Loved it. Ask for Kath, but I’m sure all guides are great.Written 22 November 2024
- JayB8510 contributionsDon't miss learning about NZ foodHighly recommended if you love to learn about NZ food and producers. Kath was our fabulous tour guide giving us a history lesson in addition to educating us on the food production in NZ. Thanks also for the restaurant recommendations...a bonus.Written 8 November 2024

- Voyage3075260 contributionsExceeded Expectations! My husband and I did a private food tour with Kath in Auckland and wow was it incredible! We weren't sure what to expect but it more than exceeded our expectations. We got to meet so many wonderful locals, learn about their shops, about local food, and more importantly got to eat an abundance of it :) Our favorite stop was learning about the coffee roasting process and getting to enjoy a cup in the cafe. Kath was an incredible guide and it really felt like spending the day with a friend. 10/10 would recommend!Written 26 October 2024
- Elkay4610 contributionsElle!Familiar. Intimately familiar with Auckland. Confident. Comfortably confident. Zero pretense. Zero need for pretense. Articulate. Playfully articulate. Flexibile. Serendipitously flexible. Empassioned. Unrestrainedly fond of Auckland, its past and present, its places and inhabitants … Auckland. To whom do these descriptives apply? Elle Armon-Jones. P.S. Our tour included a visit to / tour of Giapo, site of a most delightful ice cream artisan. Also highly recommended.Written 23 October 2024
- absolutelyfabulous310 contributionsWellington tourWhat a great morning, walking through Wellington with our guide Tor (Victoria). So many little hidden gems found along the way. You would not know about these without our guide. Well worth the money and what a great experience. Our guide was fantastic with not only food knowledge but the local history of Wellington as well. - Tourist030017071220 contributionsTasteBud Tour in AucklandKatherine Moore was great for us on this tour. We did a TasteBud Tour which ended up just being my wife and I. Katherine was gracious and very informative during our tour. From the local Miller's Coffee Shop to the small deli and specialty grocery store to taste different items, it was all amazing and fun! At the end, Katherine was even kind enough to drop my wife close to Mangere Volcano since it was on her way home. My wife got to have a nice walking adventure afterward. We really appreciate everything Katherine showed us and did for us!Written 22 April 2024

If you want an interesting and informative introduction to Auckland on foot while sampling some yummy New Zealand treats, sign up for this tour and ask for Jen to be your guide. Over a three hour period in our first afternoon in the city we explored some interesting parts of the CBD and got suggestions for the remainder of our trip. Thanks, Jen, for a great tour.

Super thankful Elle was able to accommodate us even in December when most of the people are on vacation. She gave us a great tour of the city by filling our stomachs with awesome food from Auckland with some history of the place. We always start our vacation with a food tour so we get to know the area, the restaurants along with historical and cultural facts. You can also see she cares for her clients, asking for any dietary restrictions and also chose restaurants that are walkable even for senior citizens. My mother in law had a bad knee acting up the day of our tour and Elle kind enough to put her in an Uber going to a restaurant to ease her pain. It’s also a plus that Elle can get past lines in Giapo for some beautiful ice cream 🥰

We took this tour on the day we arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, and it was a wonderful introduction to the city. The weather was gorgeous and Jonno (Jonathan), our guide, was personable, knowledgeable, and very kind. We enjoyed our time with him immensely. The walking pace was just right, not too fast or too slow, and our guide made sure we stuck to the more flat (less steep) roads. As we strolled, Jonno pointed out features and landmarks while giving us some of the history of the city. This included mention of many more recent updates which show how the city is growing and changing, which was interesting in that tours often focus on older history and don’t mention the more recent happenings. It was nice to get both.
We had tastings at about four different restaurants, each with unique décor and food offerings. We enjoyed each one. We started with a delicious New Zealand cheese platter, followed by some nice appetizer bites, then hand-made chocolates, then lettuce wraps and sliders (that order of the tastings may not be quite right). We were quite satisfied and felt no need for a big dinner afterward, but of course that would vary with your appetite.
After the tour, we asked for a recommendation for a good pub. Jonno took the time to walk us right to the door of a really charming spot called the Little Culprit where we sat at the bar and had a couple of really good well-crafted cocktails. We were lucky too, because just shortly after we got there the place filled up with locals to the point they were turning people away, so it is clearly a popular spot.
I completely recommend this tour and would do it again next time we are in town. It is so much more than just food tasting – it is getting acquainted with a new city, learning some of its history, and making some new friends. Thanks, Jonno!

Do not miss this tour! Elle, our guide, was fantastic! As our small group of 7 people walked around downtown Auckland, Elle would point out the history of different buildings and share other interesting facts about the food and New Zealand in general. We stopped at 5 different venues and ate 8 different dishes and drank a couple of wines to accompany the plump oyster and the chicken slider at the end. All the food we sampled was tasty, and there was a good variety, from seafood to meat to chocolates. It was a very enjoyable experience!

We discovered food tours while on vacation a couple of years ago and find it’s a great way to get to know a city and its secret delights.
Our tour guide Kath was amazing and added so much to the experience with her historical knowledge of the city as well as the changes made to bring the sites to what they are today. Her personal recommendations were spot on and I tasted several options I otherwise would have missed.
My personal favorites were the charcoal coconut gelato at Miann, the bleu cheese at the Hotel DeBrett and the charred chicken at Gochu.
It was a perfect way to spend an overcast humid day in Auckland and the portions were enough that we didn’t need another meal.
There are so many activities to choose from here, but this food tour is worth your money and more importantly your time!

Elle was our guide - she met us in the port and we set off on foot through the city to our first stop. Along the way, Elle gave great insight and anecdotes on the city she now calls home. First stop was to sample local cheeses - all delicious! As well as some local honey. We also learned about the varieties and properties of Manuka honey. Next was a chocolate tasting stop at an award winning chocolatier. All superb and purchased goodies to take home. After more exploring of the city, we stopped at the fish market to view the morning's catch, and had lunch at a nearby restaurant. Food was delicious, and in abundance, and we enjoyed green lipped mussels, oysters, ceviche, calamari, and fish burgers, with a delicious local wine.

This tour was unfortunately lacking. I like to do food tours to try to understand the culture of a region. Learning what people love and what foods are unique to a region is one of the main reasons I travel. This tour didn't give me that. While there were 5 stops on this trip, I felt like they weren't very well thought out. We didn't get any history on what was regularly eaten by the locals or go to any local hangouts that had anything unique about them. We went to two desert stores, two places for appetizers and one Asian restaurant that seem to have only been chosen for being near each other. In addition to that, everyone in our group ended up going out to dinner afterward. I recommend looking for a different tour if you want a more complete Auckland food experience.

We had a great experience with our guide Colleen and 4 other guests. Guide was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. Good selection of food samples and plenty to go around. Every venue was prepared for our visit when we arrived and took good care of us. If you like food tours (or have never tried one), I'd recommend this one.
Just one glitch, if you're looking for the SIM card they offer on their site, they no longer do that. Need to update the website.

Mark was an absolute delight. A two-decade native of Auckland, Mark is incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s CBD history and hidden gems. The food tour was a blast, offering a fantastic selection of diverse New Zealand cuisine and wines! I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful group of fellow Americans from various states who were also in Auckland. It was an absolute hoot! I highly recommend this experience.

How easy is the walk? Does it include many hills? We have recently been in Sydney and it was hillier than we had expected
Written 10 March 2020
The walk for me was a gradual incline at the start in some places leveling off in others. I generally do little sustained exercise and was able to complete the tour with no problems due to the fact that you stop along the way to sample food.
